Bordoy 0 Posted June 12, 2004 I have to many questions to referees... Don't you think there were too many yeallow cards to Russia? But who cares? Spain was better anyway! No. ALL refs were told by UEFA to be strict and not be leniant, that probably explains the greek penalty.
Goodspeed 0 Posted June 12, 2004 Sure all of them arel unprejudiced... May be they are from Mars...? Anyway good game! They showed good-looking football!

B-2-0 0 Posted June 12, 2004 I have to many questions to referees... Don't you think there were too many yeallow cards to Russia? But who cares? Spain was better anyway! No. ALL refs were told by UEFA to be strict and not be leniant, that probably explains the greek penalty. I disagree, i would have given that penalty. If a player goes down in the box and there is contact made it's a clear penalty....whether there was intent to foul is a different matter. Â The Greek dude had a yard on Ronaldo and cut across....he knows if he is caught and brought down he has a pen, if he gets across he is in on goal....as i said, it was fair game. The Spain - Russia game was quite a good match....the Russians played well....maybe they should have brought a BMP on at half time ....Avon may have forgiven them for her missing Law & Order then Seriously though, the Russians played well and Greece deserved their win....a nice start to the tourney and a sign of how it can really go any way in the Euro's. COME ON ENGLAND!!!
B-2-0 0 Posted June 12, 2004 Just a note on the yellow card issue. The referees always give out cards early in the tourney to stamp their authoritah on things....once you get to the last 8 they seem to ease off a little.
Pathy 0 Posted June 13, 2004 Except when you really need a player NOT to get a yellow card, then its inevitable

-Ash- 0 Posted June 13, 2004 England 2 France 1 is my prediction for this evening... As for the winners of the whole thing.. My heart says England but my head says those dark horses Spain.....
laulau 0 Posted June 13, 2004 hum.....i think that England vs france will be a tough game, with not a lot of goals. My heart says 2-1 to france, but it can also be 1-0 to england or a draw. the players know eachother very well. It's really difficult to predict something. But who wins this game won't be so important, the most important thing is who will be in good shape for the next games. I saw that for english press it's very important that england wins but here, in France, we remember the worl cup in Korea and we support our team, we hope and think our team should win or at least not loose but if they loose it won't be so important. What i hope is that there won't be too many players injured because english team plays tough and that it will be the first great game of the tournament. at the moment, we didn't see great football games. ran 0 Posted June 13, 2004 it's funny to noticve that France wins all of its friendly games against England, but we loose all the games which have some kind of importance when playing against England
laulau 0 Posted June 13, 2004 you're right, ran, but it was a long time ago, before we learn to win. We could hope that nowadays it won't be the same.
denoir 0 Posted June 13, 2004 Half time 0-0. I must say that the Swiss are surprisingly solid. Good defence. Croatia did not get its shit together until the last 10 minutes. Pretty boring game so far. Though if the next half will be like the last ten minutes of the first half then it will be an interesting game.
laulau 0 Posted June 13, 2004 yes it was really boring. Maybe with the heat, players will get tired and some space between lines will appear and finally some action!!!! at the same time, i feel the pressure growing up in me about France-England and i'm starting to get too excited to be able to follow the second half of Croatia-switzerland!! To be honest I was more interested in the Croatia-Switzerland game. Not because the game itself but because of the group. England and France are given leaders of the group, but Croatia was the wild card. In case they had the shape like in '96 or '02 they could have been a major factor in the group. Deeming from the first half, that's not the case. And that means that England and France end as top of their groups, which again makes the game later today less important. Anyway, enough typing. Have to watch the game. Â Promising Croatian opening. EDIT: WOW, Red card to the Swiss.

Monkey Lib Front 10 Posted June 13, 2004 my god i now remember why i don't watch these games, BORING, the lack of skill or any effort by croatia is very saddening at least Ireland would have put some effort in.
