Heatseeker 0 Posted May 27, 2005 My worries about size is because i notice some serious performance impact with FDF, im not sure if its because of its size and me only having 512 mb of ram or something else, hopefully a ram upgrade will help and csla2 will run smoothly . jotte 0 Posted May 27, 2005 Yes, latest version of packed MOD is cca 270MB big (unpacked cca 570MB) as Raedor wrote.@Beta - Testers: New beta will be available in Monday or in Tuesday. Sorry for delay but I'm very busy in real life... All known bugs are fixed yet and few new things are added. I will implement FFUR 5.0 effects by thunderbird84 too (thanx ). What kind of effects? Not the Hollywoodish explosions I hope?

jotte 0 Posted May 28, 2005 grrr , I think you should watch a bit more the news , especially those of Irak "Don't ask me why" btw please avoid to judge something that you don't have any clue about . And that would include that judgment of me from you. ;) I have a good clue and the version of FFUR I tested (4.2) had overdone explosions. It's the first "flash" from the explosions that are to large and lasts to long. Look at the GMR explosion mods short, sharp flash, thats more like how it "should" look. It's especially evident on the handgrenades.
Thunderbird 0 Posted May 28, 2005 Yeah maybe , but I've military advisers , mainly US... GMR effects are pretty nice but a bit old...and don't offer different explosion effects , APC explosions are the same than heavy tank ones with GMR config... however they are totally different in real life. I don't use FlashFx effects as they were before , I carried out on them a lot of modifications in the goal to have something balancing between realism and gameplay . plus a lot of people like FFUR/FlashFx effects . ps : the last version of FFUR is the 4.5 not the 4.2, and you should try the incoming one (v5.0).sorry for the OT CSLA. Best Regards Thunderbird84
CanadianTerror 0 Posted May 28, 2005 I've just tested the newest version of CSLA and the effects add tons of atmosphere to the mod. I'm very happy with the effects.

Best Regards Thunderbird84 My experiance is military too but that is beside the point. I like it on the whole but as said, the first flash from a grenade going of etc is the part i feel is to large and stays to long in the versions I've tried. That's the part I was refering to as Hollywoodish. (unclear of me in the initial statment) For me personally that little detail unfortunatly is to annoying to overlook. I like the smoke, debries and "fireball" parts, these parts are like crosses of GMR and FDF, which is good. I'll give 5.0 a spin once its out. And this is not really off topic as Maa was going to includes these effects, hence it is a fair question for the topic.
Thunderbird 0 Posted May 28, 2005 yep I see what do you mean... I agree with ya that FFUR grenades have a kind of flash , but it has been introduced for gameplay though . It gives a kinda nice atmosphere while combats and it makes FFUR/FlashFx a bit different than other mods Best Regards Thunderbird84
MAA 127 Posted May 28, 2005 FFUR effects was added to new beta version of Update1 and I must say that they looks great and they are working fine on my computer (nForce1+AthlonXP 1.7, 512RAM,32MB GF3TI200) I'm thinking that testing of Update1 is nearly to be definitely done. We need only: a)add few little things (command menu icons, splash screens, stringtable translations...etc) b)add new effects for Mi-24 by Raedor (and MapFact team) c)test all new effects d)end testing of campaigns. ... and then will be Update1 released

Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted May 28, 2005 The FFUr effects indeed add a lot to the game. I didn't use FFUR before. I allways used FDF so I had their effects, but since FDF and CSLA can't be used together I was stuck with the normal BIS effects. These FFUR effects are really nice. Airbourne Alchaholic 0 Posted May 29, 2005 Whoops, I've been gone a bit too long (again) Regarding to the pics on pages 101-103, let me just say the attention to detail is amazing! If all of your vehicles... or everything is as detailed as that then I think I won't bother with armed assault. Seriously tho, extrodianry work! I'm mindblown. Oh, and Thinderbird, looks like you've got some serious competition.
CanadianTerror 0 Posted May 29, 2005 I dont think you can really compare the two.
Thunderbird 0 Posted May 29, 2005 No competition with CSLA bud As canadian terror told , the two mods are totally different.
Airbourne Alchaholic 0 Posted May 30, 2005 Well I guess so, I really was commenting on the quality of the vehicles/units made. But then again, FFUR borrow units from other addons mods, right? Oh and I will be downloading both mods upon their release!
DB-ERAUPilot 0 Posted May 31, 2005 to be honest...I wasn't really excited about this mod for sometime but everytime I come back to see how things are going I'm like and can't wait to try it out...keep up the good work guys...
