Military rifles of the world.

Recommended Posts

Ok, we all know the m-16 is the standard wepon of the U.S. military, atleast for now. Maybe its just me that does not know, but what is the standard issue rifle of other countries, and what round do they shoot? Also do the Swiss still let the serviceman take the wepon to his home? Another thing, do most countries use the 9mm pistol?

Most eastern block and asian countries use the AK-47/74 and modifications of it. They shoot 5.45 caliber rounds.

Sweden: The AK-5 is the standard rifle. It's a modification of the FNC and uses standard NATO 5,56 mm ammunition.

Before, we used the AK-4 that is a modification of the HK G3 (7,62 mm). It has been more or less completely phased out.

The standard service pistol is the 9mm Pistol 88 (Glock 17).

I thought about getting an Ak-74, but if do get an AK it will probably be the 47, like the 7.62x39 better than the .223. Great looking rifles Denoir, did you like the HK3? Just another rifle I looked at getting.

That poor AK4. Bad PR. Sure the AK5 looks like a much better weapon. All clean and shiny. The other little guy looks like he's been to hell and back, and now kicked to the curb. sad_o.gif

China PLA are changing all their type 81(another modification of AK47) into type 95 using 5.8mm rounds.......

personaly i heard that (from those active duty boys) they are not bad but still need to improve (not big improvment, oh well at less better then those SA-80s)

but their little brother type 88(which is a sniper rifle) is like crap, someone even said that they are designed and made by those dumbass who dunno what sniper rifle is

Australia uses the F-88 Steyr Assault Rifle as it's standard rifle.

And the M-4 as it's special forces weapon.

We did have M-16's. But we sold those to our poorer Pacific neighbours.

We also used to use a localised version of the FN-FAL, the L1A1 SLR.

The British Army used the SLR, it's not a localised version (by 'localised' I suppose you mean Australian? ).

Yeah. I did. Canada and Britain and other commonwealth countries also used the weapon extensively. Each country had it's own modifications to what was essentially the same rifle. I know that all of ours had wooden butstocks, and handles as illustrated in the pic below.

SLR01.gif

Australia made its own and New Zealands L1A1's. Canada made it's own (known as the C1 and C2), Britain made it's own as well as Indias.

Agreed, our guns look more suited to parade duties, the Brit's version looks more suited for fighting in style tounge_o.gif . Our soldiers complained about the wooden features during Vietnam and only selected units were permitted to camoflage their weapons.

Greece uses the G3 for conscripts and standard infantry units.

Border units (esp at Turkish border), special forces (paras, seals, marines etc.) use the M16/M4 variants.

Norway still use the AG-3 (G3A3). We also have some MP5s here and there. Officers usually carry a Glock 17 , but some SF also have the SOCOM/Mark23 (thank god). Our SF also has some G36-versions too (I think its G36, G36C and a few AG36 to go with the G36).

Very funny pic, Balschoiw. Have any more? biggrin_o.gif

imo the price for the most futuristic looking standard issue rifle has to go to South Africa:

Quote[/b] ] good to see you back Bals how was your time in congo?

Thx. I am currently checking what I am allowed to tell wow_o.gif

I´ll make a comprehensive post when I get clearance.

Congo is an extrodinary african country. The vegetation and landscape is great and they have loads of mosquitos.

On the other hand we have a country in permanent state of civil war fueled by the countries neighbours who are eager to get control over the diamond mines and such.

Well and there are kidsoldiers. More on that later.

I had my first command on this mission and it worked pretty well. Noone lost, only minor injuries.

Had some scary experiences with AP mines, refreshened my doorgunner knowledge and did some Hussein - fishing with Semtex.

It will take some days until I can post a complete story (I hope so).

To sum it up it was a sucessfull mission that still needs to be continued for a very long time.
