Commander-598 0 Posted September 3, 2003 http://c598.20megsfree.com/Files/rifles.pk3 My modding of the rifle dammage. Having to shoot someone twice or more with a 7.92x57mm round, ain't realistic. Just so you know, it modifies the dammage of the BAR, K98, and M1 Garand.
sanctuary 19 Posted September 3, 2003 back on topic: its fun but that's it. OFP spolied me with mission editor. OFP is out of any competition , i cant think of a combat simulation game that is half as fun as OFP is (campaign, mission and editor). Call of Duty has to be seen as a Medal of Honor rival , as the 2 games are somewhat similar . Actually, from the demo i think Call of Duty has the advantage on Medal of Honor , on the single player experience and fun level .

hellfish6 7 Posted September 3, 2003 I think Ralph and Avon have the hots for each other. And to make this on-topic, I still don't think that the game is anything special.

I'm curious to see what MP it will have to offer.
SpeedyDonkey 0 Posted September 3, 2003 I agree with Avon. I bet that the MP will be really fun, if it runs this smooth!
shadow 6 Posted September 3, 2003 I agree with Avon. I bet that the MP will be really fun, if it runs this smooth! This another typical game that does not feature coop

I'm curious to see what MP it will have to offer. HAHAHAH! That was great... Anyway,I just played the Demo. If you say there is nothing special about it, you need to get some serious mental help Every second I was jumping to sudden bursts of well placed infantry. This demo also proves that special effects make all the difference. From Dust to explosions to smoke and Bullets, this is VERY intence. I agree it's like Medal of Honor, but like they say, it is 10 times better. Hopefully this comes out on a console. (running out of hard disk space)
theavonlady 2 Posted September 3, 2003 Every second I was jumping to sudden bursts of well placed infantry. Very true. Now play it again or a 3rd time and see if you jump anywhere near as much as you (and I) did the 1st time. The big negative on the SP side is low replayability. There's very limited room for a mission to play out differently every time. This is in great contrast to a well designed OFP mission that offers you numerous choices of tactics and attack routes. OFP's much more dynamic. COD is very staged. Once you know the script, it becomes no more than a rerun. I'm looking forward to COD's release. I'm assumimg it will only take up a limited amount of my attention on the SP side - 20 something missions. If the MP turns out to be good, that's a different story. DracoPaladore 0 Posted September 3, 2003 I whole heartidly agree with Avon. Anyways, if they pull it off right, they can make some missions priceless. Hell, with a realism mod, this game cen be 4 times as fun.

Bluesman 0 Posted September 3, 2003 I was dissapointed in the single demo. It felt more like those old fashioned arcade games where you shoot outlaws popping up in windows. I actually prefered MOHAA. Let's see how the mp version fares. BM

Longinius 1 Posted September 4, 2003 I liked the demo, had a great feel to it. Good pace, easy to pick up, and I actually felt like there was something bigger going on. Probably because of the fact that I wasnt alone on my side, others were moving with me, and people were still dropping all around. I really liked how you could see the AA guns firing in the distance, and then all of a sudden, you are looking down at those pricks from a slightly elevated church window. Niiiiiice ;)
theavonlady 2 Posted September 4, 2003 There's a new IGN article on COD, from yesterday. It includes 9 small videos, demonstrating some of the the game's details. For those of you who've thoroughly disected the demo, I recommend looking at the MEDIC and TANK ASSAULT clips. For fun, look at the 2 WAR HOLLWOOD STYLE clips at the end of the article. Is that Carry Grant?
theavonlady 2 Posted September 5, 2003 Another day, another IGN article, about COD's game engine, plus 2 new videos. Interesting read. In the first video, the paradrop is very nice. In the second video, those crouching Russians look like Pilsbury Dough Boys. Also, pity they're not actually speaking Russian with English subtitles.
Commander-598 0 Posted September 6, 2003 I'm more concerned with my Mosin Nagant. If they put a curved bolt on it like in Spearhead, i'll be pissed.
ralphwiggum 6 Posted September 6, 2003 seems like the IW guys wanted to go a bit more 'realistic'. When you have iron sight view, especially with thimpson, moving your view left and right with thompson will get you a delayed alignment between front and back sight.
