Guest DKM-jaguar Posted October 10, 2003 Command and Concuer gets me vote, but ofp sucks...the music is not at all atmospheric, and letting seventh or whatever thier name is do rock trakcs is a BAD idea (listen to the steriotypical rock shouting lyrics for no apparent reason, and the drummer who cant keep a basic rythm.) I can and have done better
ArchangelSKT 0 Posted October 10, 2003 For me it is : - The " Hitman " soundtracks - Rouge Spear - OPF ( only the orchestra meny music , Seventh..no way !! ) - Metal gear solid - Mafia

BoonieRat 0 Posted October 11, 2003 Can't remember the name of the game!(Apocalypse??) It was an Amiga classic though. It had a black woman singing and went: "War!, s'never been so much fun!" I got right down and boogied ... I actualy like the BF1942 intro music as well, and the guitar solo from VietCongs intro... Kingpin had some good tracks as well. A Cypress hill track that was later used in Matrix??...

Blake 0 Posted October 12, 2003 The Last Ninja (1987) soundtrack from C-64 times is one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard in a game. Defender of the Crown's was also very good. When it comes to more modern game music I think mostly of Medal of Honor, a real symphony orchestra as if conducted by Mr.Williams himself. Not to mention how great music No-One Lives Forever included. Both were excellent in creating atmosphere for the era and spiced up action nicely. OFP+Resistance come close behind as it also has quite unique soundtrack. Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear are also good but they get rather monotonic quickly and their music doesn't alter while playing (which is of course just good in a game like that). Still had to add It Came From The Desert and Lords of the Rising Sun from Amiga era ;) oh and Rocket Ranger I still remember wathcing the intro all over again because of the haunting music and great graphics. Judge Rabbi 0 Posted October 12, 2003 Meh, I like the MGS1 soundtrack. Nothing too bizzare (like MGS2.) I also like the music in MAFIA. Wow, who would have thought that music can get this good! And of course some of the tunes in OFP. The main tune is cool...hmm, may want to put that in a flash animation i'm making... I also like the music in Half Life. Surface Tention and Questionable Ethics sections in the game had some cool tunes. Hey, how about some classical music in OFP2? Wagner anyone

NurEinMensch 0 Posted October 12, 2003 I can't believe I missed this thread! My favourite music is from the old Lucas Arts title "TIE-Fighter", I really loved the dynamic in-flight midi music. In fact I even bought a wavetable soundcard just for that because fm-synth sucks. Oh those were the days, just by listening to the changing themes I knew exactly what was going on during the mission. Great stuff, later titles like X-Wing Alliance never could compete with that music.
Blake 0 Posted October 12, 2003 Well, there's a difference between redone movie music for games and new music composed for the game. So TIE fighter/Jedi Knight etc music are just John Williams film music fitted into game and in my view belong to different category.

The TIE-Fighter in-flight music wasn't redone music from the movies as far as I know, although it maybe borrowed a theme or two from there. Most of it was new. If you really want me to I'll search for the name of the guy who composed it.
