Tex -USMC- 0 Posted July 23, 2003 Oh God- what are those things? Are they tanks? Artillery? Figments of the developers imaginations? It's like DICE is trying to destroy American military history one war at a time- what's next? Battlefield: Civil War with jeeps and machine guns? Kill me now. -TU--33ker 0 Posted July 23, 2003 LOL don't expect the makers of BF:1942 to bring out something realistic! Noticed the M16? It's the M16A2! and the island on those screenshots is a pacific island from BF:1942. (don't ask me which, they look all the same)
Gollum1 0 Posted July 23, 2003 $33ker @ July 23 2003,19:53)]Noticed the M16? It's the M16A2! I was just about to post that! And it´s silver to boot! But they´ll probably call it realistic, just like Novalogic...
Milkman 1 Posted July 23, 2003 Ugh, god, this is going to worse than BF1942. I bet every kid is going to think that vietnam was a fun little battle with bunny hopping, those shiney guns and the poorly converted islands. Â This game is going to be a disgrace. Edit: And why the hell does the T-55 look like it is made of silver?
FatNinjaKid 0 Posted July 23, 2003 cause the textures aren't done yet ?
FSPilot 0 Posted July 23, 2003 This had better be a very, very early alpha. What kind of tank is that?
Gollum1 0 Posted July 24, 2003 Ugh, god, this is going to worse than BF1942. I bet every kid is going to think that vietnam was a fun little battle with bunny hopping, those shiney guns and the poorly converted islands.  Yeah, both sides are almost equally balanced and rush at each other on an open battlefield with no civilans in sight I agree that this is going to be a disgrace. And what´s this on the site: "Man-portable" Machine guns are going to be available. Oh, just try to bring some REAL military terms into your little Lego wonderland. Shashman 0 Posted July 24, 2003 LOL...I just thought it'd be a bit of fun after a long serious OFP game that's all...I didn't expect this reaction from everyone..LOL
CosmicCastaway 0 Posted July 24, 2003 Yeah, both sides are almost equally balanced and rush at each other on an open battlefield with no civilans in sight I think you'll probably find that a balanced game is what they are aiming for. Being on the American side and being able to napalm the enemy to death from great heights before they've even managed to stick there undies on and grab their AK's, wouldn't make for a very entertaining experience. Longinius 1 Posted July 24, 2003 I'm not sure the M16 is silver, I just think they fubared the light reflection bit. Many of the weapons look partially silver, partially colored. Like they were extremely shiny or something.
Nathanz 0 Posted July 24, 2003 These are very early screens and there loads to be done  http://www.gamesdomain.com/gdrevie...._01.jpg (From the site) EA AND DIGITAL ILLUSIONS ANNOUNCE DEVELOPMENT OF BATTLEFIELD VIETNAM REDWOOD CITY, Calif., June 19, 2003 – Lock and load your M-16 and grab your flak jacket, it’s time to hit the jungle in Battlefield Vietnam™. Electronic Arts (Nasdaq: ERTS) announced today that Battlefield Vietnam for the PC is under development and expects to debut in early 2004. The title will be published and distributed by Electronic Arts under the EA GAMES™ brand. The Battlefield franchise is entering a new era with more firepower and beautiful yet ferocious new combat settings. Staying true to the over-the-top, action-packed multiplayer style that gave Battlefield 1942™ its critical and commercial success, Battlefield Vietnam will drop players into some of the Vietnam War’s fiercest battles. Fighting in theatres from jungles surrounding the Ho Chi Minh Trail to the city streets of Hue, players will choose from two well-equipped forces, the United States or the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) and Vietcong. Offering an arsenal of weapons and vehicles authentic to the Vietnam conflict, players will battle in first-person perspective. The workhorse vehicle for the U.S. during the conflict was the helicopter and it will serve the same purpose in Battlefield Vietnam. The NVA will be outfitted with many Russian-made vehicles including the T-54 tank and Mig-21 jet. Taking a step forward from its franchise predecessors, Battlefield Vietnam will allow passengers to fire from moving vehicles and players will have the ability to airlift other vehicles via helicopter. The game will also deploy new rendering and sound engines that will help take players deeper into the 1960’s mindset. Battlefield Vietnam, like its brethren Battlefield games, allows players to join forces on teams in games up to 64 players over the Internet, or jump into single player action. Battlefield Vietnam is being developed by Digital Illusions Canada, a subsidiary of Sweden-based Digital Illusions. I also herd it possable to transport jeeps by helis.
