Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted July 1, 2003 awesome this cover isnt it. Please remember that Berlusconi has zero to no opposition in Italy, media-wise. During the last years it was pretty hard to find a single critical article in an italian newspaper, report on the radio or documentary on TV. Freedom of press? Yes but not comments directed against your owner, and he is the owner of pretty all of them!. And Berlusconi is very vain...he hates being criticised or to see his image being harmed. Seeing him in trial and listening to be speech he held there reminds me of Mussolini. He might be considered as a great politician in Italy but on a international level he can do what he wants, everyone sees him as a typical italian mafiosi. Seriously, I dont know what is wrong with the italians but they seem to love corruption, and Mussol... sorrY I mean Berlusconi is one of Italies best specialists in this area!!!!! Quality rules! sanctuary 19 Posted July 1, 2003 So , you can use corruption on justice , and if you dont want to go in jail for this , just create an immunity law it will be accepted. The result of that nonsense will just lead you in europe presidency , And my frenchy country is a part in that masquerade that can produce such a stupid an incredible event in the "european union" , what a shame .... but i know too that we are not the only country responsible in that nonsense I watched some days ago a TV doc about Muss....herm Berlusconi , it was very well done and very instructive on his "i sue you for obstruction on the government action" method to say "shut up" to all opposition in italy. And people has no confidence in their politicians , i wonder why

NurEinMensch 0 Posted July 1, 2003 It is really a shame that this guy takes over presidency. One more reason why we urgently need to reform the EU and make the people of Europe actually chose who leads them. The italians might love Berlusconi (i think its more love/hate tho) but if the european "voters" (i wish) had any say he'd be kicked out of the EU presidency. What do you guys (and avon ) think, should the people of Europe elect their president or not? And why?
ale2999 0 Posted July 1, 2003 dudes he is a leader of a huge coalition of parties, and that is how he got in control. Just because he is the owner of all tv, he cant be negated from having a shot at being prime minister. EG it the owner of AOL Warner Cnn wanted to be president of the US would u say no just because he is VERY influential? If u say no is that freedom?
PFC_Mike 2 Posted July 2, 2003 Hahahha it's good to see that Americans don't have a monopoly on leaders with interesting background. Bush needs no explanation, but it should be mentioned that several of Miami's mayors had popular nicknames involving the words "crazy" and "loco." Also, the leading potential canidate for the governorship of California is a noted car thief (Darell Issa) who previously ran a car alarm company. That's politics in general. Although that immunity law was a bit absoid. What kind of regulations on media ownership are there in Italy? In the US anyway the widespread subscription to cable/satellite TV means theres a news channel for everyone.

cam0flage 0 Posted July 2, 2003 I think the whole idea of a presidency for EU is very stupid, so there's no need for me to tell you what I think about Berlusconi being a candidate for it It's very interesting how Berlusconi actually manages to do his thing with the media - a little word and all the editors roll over on their backs like weasels and expose their softest parts ... well, that's the price you have to pay for keeping your job :P
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted July 2, 2003 Hah, but the story continues.... Today, in front of the european parliament Berlusconi said about a german representant that he: knew that there was a film being made in Italy about the concentration camps and I would propose you to play the camp-chief . I think you would be perfect for this job. If I would be the german representant I would have gotten up from my seat, gone down onto the stage and knocked the head of this 1.68m italian dwarf against the lectern. cam0flage 0 Posted July 2, 2003 The pizza could have been invented by the Phoenicians, the Greeks, or The Romans or anyone, in fact, who learned the secret of mixing flour with water and heating it on a hot stone.
