Col. Kurtz 0 Posted June 3, 2003 Been of a newer generation, my first video game experiance was in the early nineties. Can't pin-point a date or game, but I do remember back to 1994 when my best friend got a sega with Alex the Kid. In those days I was terrible and I was lucky if I made it past the first level. I used to prefer to watch my friends play rather than play the game, probably because they were so much better considering they owned segas. It was the Playstation that really got me into gaming. SpeedyDonkey 0 Posted June 3, 2003 The first game i played was probably mario, on nintendo. Im not sure about my first computer game but one i really liked was "Wacky Wheels" Alot of Animals riding go-carts. Kind of suits me well ;) Oh and you could play two players on that... damn fun {8^)
N.o.R.S.u 0 Posted June 3, 2003 Yeah Wacky Wheels and Slicks 'n Slide . Slicks is still a great game, a true classic atleast here in Finland . One of my first games was the original Battlezone for Vic20. I was only 6 years old and didn't understand anything of the game , but it was still fun. *edit* My 800th post . Blaegis 0 Posted June 3, 2003 Discounting the funky handheld LCD games (like the one Tovarish posted), the first true computer games I played were on C64/128. F-19 Stealth Fighter (hehe, that was before the existence of F-117 was declassified), Pirates and Power at Sea (I just loved pounding the crap out of coastal defenses with battleship guns). Then there were a few early (286) PC favorites like Death Track and the various Sierra Quests, which aren't that nice to play when you're only learning your English (Restore, Retry, Quit? anyone ;) ). P.S. Now that I remember, there was also some weird contraption before C64, where you had to load the programs from an audio cassette. You could play Spy Hunter, Frogger and Bruce Lee on that one. Gee, just how many man-hours I spent in front of a computer screen in the last 20 years...
Balschoiw 0 Posted June 3, 2003 I am a player for a lifetime: I wobbled around with some LCD games at that time also. Donkey Kong, Stunt driver, Race Pilot, etc. I also had a watch with inbuilt galaxian clone (made fun at school) I still own the LCD´s as I never wrecked or sold one of them. They now make good fun for guests at my bathroom with the age of 9-10 or something I entered some restaurants where they had Galaxian Centipede PENGO River Raid Space wars (Asteroids based on this one) Spy Hunter PITSTOP !!! Moon Patrol / Moon Buggy Zaxxon Frogger Pitfall (on C64) Q Bert Missile command Pole Position (who doesnt remember the start sound: bleeep, bleeep, bleeeeeeeeeeeeep ) Donkey Kong Monty on the run The soundtrack of Rob Hubbard was great. He was the magic sound man on the C64 along with Chris Huelsbaeck. Well that´s it basically. For sure there were other games for the C64 like Raid over moscow, Decathlon  , Dig Dug, etc but on my personal timeline they show up pretty late compared to the real classics mentioned above. Well having tears in my eyes I will have to stop now  EDIT: I need to add one ALL TIME FAVOURITE now: Played it with passion on C64 and arcade standalone. Who can sing the title that was played whenever a match started ? It was something like... Ah well if you want to listen it on your own follow this link, download the sid-player and download all that fanzy stuff done by C64 sound wizards: Tunes you have to remember
Supah 0 Posted June 3, 2003 I am a player for a lifetime:bla Frogger bla Me and a friend made that (for fun first and then we got a shitload of extra credit for it :P) in flash. go to Supah's page And look for the frogger button Dont mind the counter thing, its still broken after the webserver got hacked by some dimwit a month back Just saw i uploaded an old version, it works the same as the final one ...it just has horrible entry screens oh well its the game that counts
Skul 0 Posted June 3, 2003 One of the first games I can remember playing was some game on one of those ancient adding machines known as the BBC Acorn! I played a few games on that old bugger. Then the Mega Drive came into existence and once I played Sonic, I was addicted to computer games! Who's played a game called 'Streets of Rage'? And what about 'Streets of Rage 2'? One of my all time favourites on the MD. Not to mention Desert Strike! After that, it was onto the PC for the next leg of my gaming adventure. This time, Corridor 7. A futuristic Wolfenstein with some better graphics and such. Then onto the honourable DOOM series! I've steadily progressed through the gaming generations and, by hell, I've done a lot of gaming... but games today... it's all about death and destruction! In my day, it was two lines bouncing a square around! Much simpler! None of this 'Z to lie down' nonsense! No, it was fine and....... mr. Duck 0 Posted June 3, 2003 Oh my god, yeah I still remembered that streets of rage, I usually played that in multiplayer. Aah the times... (quick man kick his ass! shit wait for me! Dude, you already have much health, give me the damn food) But my first game... Darn, I can't remember, I can only remember when I made my first carrier landing. Was with this game where you could fly the F-16 or F-18, both we're very whit and you could land a plane with speeds over mach
Die Alive 0 Posted June 3, 2003 It's not a video game, but the first game I played was a pinball machine, I was 5 years old. Then I went onto arcade machines, all sorts, pac man, mrs poon tang, errrr, pac man, elevator action, pole position, that first star wars game that had sticks made tie fighters... so many. Then I played some atari at a friend's house, really crappy games, and this C64... wasn't that much fun really. Then i got Nintendo Entertainment System, and I played Legend of Zelda, Duck Hunt, and Gyromite. Then I got Nintendo Baseball, 10 yard Fight, and lots and lots of other games to follow, RC Pro Am, Ikari Warriors, Operation wolf, Ice hockey, Alpha Mission, skyshark, .... skip a bunch... the last game I got for that was Tecmo Super Bowl, and I played it for 2 or 3 years afterward, I was just so good at it, I won the Super Bowl with every team there. The first PC I got, an 386, it came with a few games, but I don't remember which one I played first, might of been a motorbike race game, wasn't all that fun. Then I got other games, like Space Quest, Kings Quest, Police Quest 1, Wing commander, Sim City, etc... My first pentium was a P1 100, that was around Christmas time, and the first game I played on that was NHL (forget which year). and so on and so forth... -=Die Alive=-
Mister 5 0 Posted June 3, 2003 Silent Hunter(?) Silent Service. I loved that one, but I must've crashed into Cuba some 50 times... My memory is too fuzzy to remember my first videogame, but I can recall most of my favorites. Mario 1-3, Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Duck Hunt, and why hasn't anyone mentioned GAUNTLET yet?? digitalcenturion 20 Posted June 3, 2003 Hey skul, i remember that game! I played it on the Sega Game Gear tho, but i rocked. I dont remember wich part, maybe it was the third game? Anyway, so THATS what the guy who gets it in pic2 looks like. I always tought he was a old lady on the game gears small display. Oh well, beating up old ladies was fun too  Also, Desert Strike, Jungle Strike and Urban Strike for the Megadrive were absolutely killer. I loved those games. I still play them sometime on a emulator. I too moved to PC after that. My first game was that Top Gun game by Microprose. I loved it.
Jamesia 0 Posted June 3, 2003 I think the first games that I ever played were... dizzy games on the old spectrum, (GREAT games them) Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade on the Atari, (made most annoying because of the lack of a save feature) & Midwinter on the Atari (took a good 5 mins to load every time you changed vehicle or looked at a different map or ANYTHING) & HUNTER on the atari (GREAT game), that was operation flashpoints dad I think. Silent Service (for the NES at least) was set in the Pacific during WW2. There was also Wolfpack, also set in WW2. Gauntlet, ah good ol' Gauntlet. Red Warrior shot a food lol -=Die Alive=-
sanctuary 19 Posted June 3, 2003 HUNTER on the atari (GREAT game), that was operation flashpoints dad I think. I cant believe it Someone remember this masterpiece game , in advance on its time : Hunter on Atari ST !!!!! Always when i talked about it to my friends as old as me , no one ever remembered this game that was comparable to OFP (but where you were alone versus all) with all the drivable vehicle (i always liked the surf between sharks ;) ) Here is a scan from the back of my original box containing the game , it has screenshots

Mister 5 0 Posted June 4, 2003 Silent Service (for the NES at least) was set in the Pacific during WW2. Oops. Well, knowing my lack of skills at that game, I'd still say it's entirely possible that ran aground in Cuba Quote[/b] ]Also, Desert Strike, Jungle Strike and Urban Strike for the Megadrive were absolutely killer. killagee 0 Posted June 4, 2003 A hot summers christmas 18 years ago... My parents hid my big X-mas supprise on the dining room table. I never noticed it (my talent at spying camo'd positions was undeveloped). Not until my ma said "Can you clear the table for X-mas dinner..." OMG!! A Commodore Amiga 500!!!!!! With F/A-18 Interceptor game!! I was launching off that carrier before the roast had cooled. I remember the elation of my first Carrier Landing that night... My Dad cheering me on ( he never had the oppertunity when I played soccer, apart from one unfortunate own-goal...) Next morning I woke up a 6:00am, and fly my hornet under the golden gate bridge... Now, 18 years on, Although I have achieved much and have a job some people would give their left arm for, it has devolved into a serious addiction. Quite a few bored(boring?) ex-girlfriends later and here I am...Staying up until the wee hours often to give that mission one last go... P.S. I have a confession. I have never finished either Campaigns in OFP... Bad I know but I just love making my own missions... Pity I use too many addons to spread them around! And I make them sooo long and the odds sooo far against me that they are a nightmare to finish.
