Just hopping by to say I love what you've done with the Osprey GNAT. I'm glad you could make use of my basic model

awesome shots of that tree with the water Killagee. Especially the 3rd one @ 10mm. What lens is that, the Sigma 10-20? And g00b, I really liked those (crossprocessed?) portraits from a couple of pages back, that's good stuff man. getting connected (bigger)

I'm thinking about replacing the kit lens with the 17-50/2.8 lens made by Sigma. Just seen it for 399.- € in town today (didn't look for online prices yet). I have yet to find any (affordable) zoom lenses with a better f-value. Simply the fact that it offers the same aperture over the whole zoom length (and much better than the 3.5-5.6 of the the kit lens, too) makes it perfect for any indoor/low light photography. Anyone tried this lens (or the respective Tamron equivalent)? Is there an equivalent Canon lens, and what would that cost? From what I've heard the Sigma has a lot of Colour Abberation. The Tamron 17-50 is said to be very decent and about the same price as the Sigma. However Tokina will soon release their 16-50/2.8 so I'm kinda holding back till that's available and see how it performs and how much it'll cost. The Canon equivalents cost quite a bit more EFs 17-55/2.8 IS: about 870e EF 16-35/2.8L: about 1400e (a second hand 17-35/2.8L is also an option, still expensive) EF 24-70/2.8L: about 1100e (a second hand 28-70/2.8L is also an option, but again, still expensive) And to finish with a photo, my first time trying night photography bigger/sharper

nope, same here.... guess i should buy a 50 f1.4 lens for it... or maybe "just" a 50 f1.8 lens as that is a little cheaper..... you got any recomendations for a replacement lens similar to the kit 18-55 lens? someone told me that the Sigma 17-70 lens is quite good... but it´s expensive.... (atleast i think it is) I use Canon's 50/1.8 for concerts at the moment. Settings I use: Aperture Priority mode: f/2.8, ISO800, -1 exposure bias Manual mode (if the lighting is really crap): f/2.8, ISO 800, 1/60s or 1/80s At f/1.8 you get a very shallow DOF, so I doubt an f/1.4 lens would be very useful given the even narrower DOF. That's one of the reasons I use my 50/1.8 @ 2.8, just gives a bit wider DOF. I'm looking into getting a fast zoom lens for concerts though, as 50mm is often too narrow and sometimes too short. Thinking of getting a 17-50/2.8 or 28-75/2.8 (Tamron) or something similar. (The Canon equivalents cost about 3 times as much) And regarding your previous post, yes I was refering to the Sigma 70-300/4-5.6 DG APO Macro. @ supah, the 70-300/4-5.6 IS USM only costs about 600 or so, not 1499 :P [edit] I should talk less and post more photos

I may have been chuffed with my 70-300 a while ago, but the SLOW autofocus and quite soft images at the long range are bugging me. Same story as your old 170-500 basicly Not using that lens much anyway, only bought it for aircraft photography, which I don't do much, if at all

'homemade' F/9 disc? Did you put some chewing gum inside the F/8 disc? Interesting picture though goob, polaroids are always fun. I was hoping I could post some reasonable photos of the Razorlight gig I went to last Wednesday, but I was 'stolen' from good pictures as there was a monitor right in front of me (on an allready high stage). That wasn't the only factor though, I was playing around too much with settings instead of just using the settings I normally use for gigs. Also somewhat photography related: I'm currently hogging the mailbox, the flash unit I ordered should be arriving today

Lovely shots AimPoint, I never seem to get colours right (or wrong, depending how you look at it ) when I'm tinkering around with cross-processing effects. Pic from last Friday bigger My cam seems to have developed a slight hotpixel problem though. I can probably get it fixed under warranty, but it'll mean I'll be without a cam for weeks

Over at E-Racing we drive most nights, either practicing for the race on friday on our own server or just doing some small races on Redline Racing. (Redline Racing is a recommended server if you are looking for good racing) Flashpoint Racing's server seems to be up, but the FpR guys never seem to be on.. and their forum is a bit dead, unfortunatly.

Haha excellent vid!. I think I held on pretty good for the first few laps, but my car became very unstable after a few laps (either the tires or suspension got borked). About 8 laps into the race I couldn't even put down half decent times anymore because the rear would just break out at the slightest turn. Was a great race though. Unfortunatly I couldn't make it to the real race this night, as I had to babysit my nephews (I probably wouldn't have lasted long anyway, heh)
