Arma 3: Community wishes & ideas- NO DISCUSSION

Recommended Posts

-Several Large Sized Cities(every country has atleast one major city, no?)

-A substantial sewer system in said city, that would enable sneaking around under the cover of dark.

-Hostage Rescue

-Abseiling from any sort of a substantial drop(multistory buildings, cliffs, etc) with an ACE type interface(you need to ensure you are carrying a coil of rope, a "figure 8," a pair of gloves, etc.

-Vehicles in which you can walk around.

-Authentic Paradrops: passengers in back of C-130, stand up walk to back of plane then jump, not eject. Static Line requires Stand up, hook up, jump; Interaction required so if you don't hook up, you need to be scraped up with a spatula.

-Proper Ejection Seats

-Parachute malfunctions

-Landing in the water with a parachute should be very bad: Thus require players to quickly cut away the chute, or cut away just before hitting the water

-Proper Aircraft crashes: No magical explosion, but rather a wreck.

-Proper Aircraft Controls and Physics

-Aircraft Flight Surfaces move: Rotor blades tilt forward , elevators move, Ailerons move, Rudder Move. Prop Planes can have their blades feathered, Mixture adjusted for Lean vs Rich.

-Flight Surfaces make a difference: Major Difference between Take-off flaps and landing flaps...

-Individual vehicle systems: Hydraulic, Air, O2(in case of high altitude aircraft,) Control Cables, Tracks

-Damagable Components: Rotor blades can be destroyed if you hit a tree, Stabilizers shot off, Ailerons shot off, rudder shot out, Hydraulic System Failure, Tank tracks KOed, Turret Rings Destroyed, Sights shot out, etc. Engine Fires as well.

-Ability for things to burn: Chuck an incendiary into a woodshed, and the result be a fire

-Det Cord: Everyone remembers that scene from We Were Soldiers where the Engineer raps the Det Cord around the trees and touches it off inorder to create an LZ: We should be able to do that too.

-ACE Features

-Certain Vehicles be able to drive under water for shot distances: T-90 can realistically drive for short distances under water, that is with water over the top of the turret. Granted it cannot drive across the Pacific Ocean, however it can ford a river this way possibly.

-Bridge Destruction: Animated Bridge destruction

-3D damage to vehicles: Drive off Tracks, Tail Physically blown off, Ammunition Blow outs.

-Blood Effects, Wounds pop up where you were actually hit, Gore: Face it, a direct hit with a 120mm round will result in not much more than red mist; A shot to the leg with a M109 however should remove the leg.

-Diving Apparatus: Perhaps enable missions where navy seals infiltrate or destroy an Oil Platform.

-Weapon Malfunctions: Jams, Runaways, Barrel Overheating

-Walking into a Rotor should decapitate you, or remove the offending limb

-All Vehicle doors that can be opened in real life should be able to be opened. It always irritated me that you could not lower the Osprey's Loading ramp same with the Merlin

-Vehicle Buoyancy: If a helicopter crash lands into the water it does not instantly sink, granted it does rather quickly. Furthermore it does not explode in this process! However if a Chinook or similar aircraft lands in water it can generally float for a short period of time; As a matter of fact Chinooks occasionally land in water to enable Spec Ops to drive a Zodiac directly into the cargo hold.

-Co-Pilot is not a passenger, he should be able to take over the controls should the pilot take a bullet.

-Different Aircraft Loadouts: Similar to Mando Missiles; An A10 doesn't come in only the variant with 4 bombs 2 anti air rockets and 10 hydras, but rather might have 6 bombs one sortie, and none the next.

-Ability to climb cranes all the way to the top: No reason that a sniper cannot make his way all the way out to the end of the boom. Even better if we can also get abseiling, since then the sniper can hook up and abseil all the way to the bottom, assuming he has enough rope, lest he be in for a surprise!

-Terrain Altering with explosions: Bombs and other explosions should make craters. A Well placed demo charge should also be able to do this in a defensive manner, as to create a foxhole

-Tactical Ladders

-Rope Ladders on choppers(granted you have to take em separate) to allow for extraction from tricky places and such.

-Cave Networks

-Metro System: Walk along the track to get from place to place, but watch out for them pesky trains!(Assuming Populus implimented)

-Civilian Populus: Despite it being a warzone there is no reason that some of the cities cannot be populated. A populus should automatically be in place, but obviously scatter when the tanks come rolling in. Make life slightly fun for Covert Ops.

-Weapon Anti-Material Properties, extremely destructible environments": No reason a 12.7mm round cannot penetrate a wall. No reason some det cord cannot be used to blow a small hole in the wall for a sniper, yet not take down half of the building.

-Unexploded Ordnance: Nothing like a bomb sitting there sticking out of the ground right next to you unexploded to wake you up in the morning.

-R&R required: Instead of being able to go mission hopping, you should re required to sleep a little during the game; lest you suffer effects such as blurry vision.

-Insurgency Like fighting: Instead of charging in haphazardly, now that all buildings will be able to be entered, require buildings to be cleared.

-Certain Buildings should have locked doors, which must be breached via a good boot, or an explosive charge.

-Carrier Operations: Be launched off carriers by catapults, and land on the carrier. More so have accurate aircraft carrier models, featuring things like the 4 Arrestor Cables, LSO platform and safety room, Magazine where you can select ordinance, working Optical Landing Systems, so you can actually "Call the Ball," Furthermore the tailhook should extend visibly, and you should aim to catch the 2nd wire.

-Subtle Roles, such as requiring somebody to act as "Catapult Man" in order to launch aircraft off the carrier

-C130 Cargo Drop System: Ability to skid heavy vehicles like tanks, or airdrop lightweight things like ammo crates.

-Ability to interact with Vehicle interiors such as in TOH.

-Customization of weapons: Instead of having 100x M4A1s, why not have one? And then from there you can take attachments such as an M203, a Vertical Grip, a bipod, or a Masterkey, a Suppressor, a Red Dot, an ACOG, a Thermal Scope, or a Shortdot.

I am certain I will think of more, lol

-(Not many would think about this) but an in-game camera system for easier and better ability to make intros, outros, cutscenes, and movies with arma

-Ability to rest weapons

-Animated bipods

-(Anotherone people dont care about) But breaking the sound barrier in jets to add more realism when jets make fly bys or when you yourself are flying you can see the contrail and wind shear

-Urban prone and all around more realistic animations (http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5023/5601235240_fdc2254f82.jpg)

-Ac-130 gunship

-(even though its really good as is but if you can some how make it better) Improved mod accessablity

-(PLEASE!) Ability to melee enemies for those stealth missions and your just to close for comfort

-(most likely doing it) But improved AI. Example: Say under fire first thought in a mind of a soldier is down, return fire, and find cover. please make it to where AI should understand survival of himself and squad mates is a priority. Aswell as choice of cover

-Commading interface easier but still have the option to use old school like say a quick command radial for when if firefights and then the old school but improved for more detailed orders when preparing for an ambush.

-The ability to tighten soldiers formation up for more stealth oriented missions

-Improved drag and carry system

-might not be able to or might not matter but ability to storm buildings with AI and the AI BE EFFECTIVE INDOORS! say as in stacking up on the door then entering

-Tear gas and other chemical warfare weapons and animated gear to go with it that can be applied in game Gasmask.. ect

-Trip mines or any other contact orientated anti personel or anti tank weapons

-(Personal wish but not important and will probably not be added lol) But giving personality to each faction as in their tactics on how they fight determined by AI in game

-been said numerous times but ability to shoot from a vehicle

-(Havent seen any vids or pics or read anything that says it has it still so im gonna say it) Still have the ability to go into third person

Thats pretty much all that i wish and that should be added, other than that its good :D

Fully operational naval based platform would be awsome. Something like a carrier group, for launching landing and spec ops operation.

Hyperthermia is overheating, you probably meant hypothermia

Yeah right, I meant that :), thnx. for those who didn't follow this. I suggested colde weather, winter warfare.

I know I shouldn't bring this game up, but I just wanted to say that "Operation Flashpoint Red River" did something better over Arma.

Operation-Flashpoint-Red-River-Gameplay-Trailer-2_8.jpg&w=1276&h=717&ei=2hDKTvHdLo2YOrbp5cYP&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=659&vpy=158&dur=391&hovh=168&hovw=300&tx=184&ty=119&sig=107767557336457632961&page=6&tbnh=100&tbnw=158&start=81&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:3,s:81

They made all the equipment look worn and dirty instead of brand new like most of the weapons and equipment do in Arma. I think this is something that definitely will improve the feel and look of the game and can even bring some gameplay features with it like cleaning a gun and jamming. Maybe the player could get a brand new gun given to him at the start of a new campaign and then it getting dirtier and more battle worn after a certain amount of use/abuse.

It popped my mind that the skill system is far from being realistic but can be greatly improved to give both fun and realism.

It would be nice to have a AI skill based on the training the particular unit had. For example: insurgent civilian militia would move without any formation, in swarm-like manner, firing mostly from hip (like in Black Hawk Down somalian insurgents) while f.e. USMC would be highly based on battle drills, keeping formations and working closely with eachother...

Apart from typical hearing/aiming skills, different levels would have different tactical skills.

I can figure some basic training skills the AI can have (with fluid transition between them)

1. Untrained - civilians with guns, unacurate, no formations, swarm like mob, no chain of command, very low morale (easly pinned down), no fancy tactics usually charging in numbers.

2. Basic training - draft military or similar experience, know how to fire a gun, know very basic formations, low morale but effective chain of command (could be easly pinned but with officers and NCO present could act better). Very simple tactics - pin down and charge, holding ground but not too long and hard. Cant use support without officers and NCOs.

3. well trained - good shooting, well morale and chain of command, know some battle drills and using formations well, kind of standard unit. Holds ground well, using basic flanking manouvers. using moderate support.

4. veterans - good morale, well executed batlle drills, even without high rank officers and NCOs. good weapon handle, holding ground well. Using a lot of flanking, avoiding direct aproach, holding ground well. Using support well.

5. Elite - all kinds of very well trained units, very effective, high morale, using formations, battle drils, well use of equipement and tactics, self sustained, can whitstand even larger forces. Using sophisticated tactics like door to door cleaning, advanced suppress-and-flank manouver, artillery, air support, heavy weapons support, can use all kinds of weaponry and collect it from battlefield, use ambushes and sneaking etc.

6. specialists and special forces - commando likes, best at everything, uses all of above and more, can act singlehanded as well as in teams, snipers, spec ops etc.

A better soundtrack... Ondrej Matejka's music is alright, but it's not the best by far. Have a soundtrack that's on the quality of work by composers like Hans Zimmer, or Ramin Djawadi, or Harry Gregson Williams. Of course this is second to actual gameplay-related matters...

Another thing:JDAMs

The manner in which they work could be something like this:

The weapons officer or pilot flying on autopilot/don't-crash-into-the-ground mode (another thing I'd like to see) goes to a screen (could be either through Action Menu or via RTT which would allow it to happen without losing view of the outside) and gets an Artillery Menu-ish display where he can see effective range of the weapon and target selection. Clicking selects a target and an alert comes up when the weapon can be released.

Of course, if this sounds too arcadey and you know how those things actually work, that's always the better alternative.

Any kind of emotional state/morale system that would give the robot like soldiers some life!

Currently if you open fire at a group of soldiers (like in ambush situation), they just stand there for a while and then go prone and shoot at you (killing you instantly from 500m from AK with fist burst... yeah thats insane too). No reaction at all to the bullets flying all around them and their friends dying.

It should look like this:

For example - standard line soldiers without too much experience.

You open fire. The group first reaction would be to disperse to nearest cover or to get down, some should panic a litlle bit and stay in the open. Some would get shot, so others will react to their buddies been shot, so they would try to help, cry, swear etc. They should start to look around for our position, but if we keep firing they would be scared as hell and try to avoid getting shot doing that. Some more experienced would drag the panicked ones and wounded behind cover. After some time they woud start to lean from they covers to get our position and try to return fire. The whole action would then look like they were actually suprised!

And the more experienced the troops, the faster they will return fire and pipoint your position, but the initial confussion is a must have!

Below are some real life references of soldiers, insurgents, and non armed observers under fire that shows what I am talking about.

caution strong language here and graphic footage:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwtT35TuB4Y&feature=related

this one is especially interesting as the guy was actually shot by sniper but body armour saved him, watch his reaction after he stands up and seeks cover:

3D scope sights! I don't know if that's mentioned already but I did search and didn't find anything. I think ArmA needs 3D scope sights now especially since many other games have it.... and I think 2D scopes should become obsolete.

Yes, was asked for A1, A2 e now A3. Hope we can have it, but after seeing a huge FPS drop while using it in Insurgency, Red Orchestra 1 and 2 I really doubt we will have it.

Your first picture is a little over of the 100kb limit, but is one of the best pics to serve as example for this.

I would like a nice naval addition for each major faction in game I think that would expand so much more although im sure we wont see it but my hopes are still high as we still have a year til release....I would also like a full armoury of weapons because in arma 2 in the factions they didnt have every weapon that certain factions actually have, of course im not really an unhappy person about it but still would be cool if they had the time too

Since the anim system is getting an overhaul, a module that activates more random animations for idle, alarmed and injured states.

Also, microphone leakage (or whatever it's called) - when you're in a chopper and you give out a command, the chopper's engine could be heard in the background. It was discussed in the old wishlist thread once.

Also, animation-wise, some entering animations would be welcome as well. TKoH proved it could be done.

Working body armour is a must although they stated that in the feature list. They mentioned 3 things: Improved wounding system ( no specifics for now ), Headgear will offer different levels of projectile protection, balistic vest and backpacks. Those hint that a lot about working body armour but still nothing directly saying "Working Body Armour" But if they don't include that I think it's pointless then to be able to choose a body vest or not other than to look "cool" Since they said Headgear will provide some protection I hope that they'll make body armour work so if you get shot in the chest you won't bleed and you won't shake uncontrollably as if you were injured obviously a person would shake a bit but not as if they were shot without body armour. Also It would be nice if you get shot in the body armour you don't just stand there as if nothing happens you fall down but get back up again. It may be abused though as a feature but if implemented correctly it could work nice. Also A feature I'd really like is survivable helicopter or plane crashes depending on height and speed yes we have it already but not exactly realistically as a helicopter touching a tree makes the helicopter blow up? I don't think so.

Currently AI cannot place indirect fire on you without scripting. The ability for AI to have mortars, Howitzer or MLRS and use it against known enemys would be awesome.

Insurgency and Guerilla tactics are different from Fire-and-movement. The AI should be able to perform some of the more standard guerilla tactics like inverted U and feigned retreats ambushes.

So i am currently on a server and of course im shot up... so my buddy loads me into the LAV... and lets me bleed in my seat while he clears up takis. and it made me realize. that a nice touch to arma 3 would be the ability to load a wounded soldier in a vehicle and medic him inside where its safer. cause he just had to pull me out to do the medic work. now i will go back to terrorizing zargabad. peace all!

What about some working ballistic defense missile systems that could be important to all A3 factions? + Something more advanced to use/intercept than those old SCUDs from Guba. ;)

If they ever decide to have ArmA 3 on consoles it must NOT be ported to the PC instead it should be the other way round as no one likes a toned down console game on PC it'll just ruin the franchise.

Shooting out of vehicles and walking inside of vehicles depending if you can IRL then it should be implemented as I find it really boring how you're static in an AC130 or a truck etc... Ok it may be weird having a bunch of guys walking around in the back of a truck but that's where being able to sit on any seat you're looking at should come in.

I wish the MP server browser would have an option to filter servers that use mods from those who don't.

This would be seperate from the server filter utility.

Gameplay/Engine - micro destruction (ability to chip away at walls and fences with high calibre weapons like GMPG).
