In regards to NKSOF- I don't think I would do them because, like the Chinese SF unit's, there is little hard/confirmed knowledge about their weapons/ equipment/ usage.

Unlike most American, European or Russian, Special Forces groups there is little actual information that isn't pure propaganda around- even African groups are easier to find info and photographs of.

I don't like to do pre-existing OPFOR groups like the NKSOF (and the Chinese SOF, which I consider a failure, but will remain available) because I don't think it's possible to get them accurate enough for my liking- I would rather do something that is more of a semi-fictional group, such as Iranian Army/SF mod, as a replacement for European/Altis CSAT (something I plan in the future)

My current projects is the ADF 2nd Commandos, as part of Uncut, and Syndikate Overhauled, as well as some private factions for my A3 group.

However, South Korean Unit 707 is something I'm looking into, so they may appear at some point :)

Important note-

My Islamic State and Abu Sayyaf group factions have been pulled temporarily from workshop due to including the IS flag.

I will be attempting to get them re-uploaded without the 'disallowed content' (quote) but there is no certainty it will work.

I'll be updating this post if and when they are back on Workshop.

UPDATE-

They have been returned to Workshop now, but you will need to re-subscribe.

that's fair enough there isn't much on them part from these photos that just surfaced recently from the parade they had: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/606206/north-korea-special-forces-commando-trump-nuclear-missile-world-war-3-update-latest-news

Looking forward to the ADF mod, might finally get a completed mod. So many have gone under over the years unfortunately.

Shame about the islamic state mod, guess their flag is pretty much the new swastika.

Ok, just checked that link- that is the funniest 'grenade launcher' I have ever seen, it looks like an enlarged Bizon mag or steel tube that's been spot welded over the magazine.

You can see it covering where the magazine should be inserted into the gun. I suppose they think that the AK-74 (assuming AK-74 based on muzzle break design) doesn't need to fire bullets?

Also note how the article said they were "carrying a new type of rifle" Yes new...if you are reading this in the mid 1970's...Also-I bet you any money those NVG's are fake airsoft replicas :D

A North Korean faction would be pretty interesting. Definitely and under represented faction in the Arma series. Would make for some interesting scenarios.

Also, a shame about the Abu Sayaaf and ISIS mods. People need to realize that just because you use the flag for the picture doesn't mean he supports them.

You're right, I did a bit of reading it's a type 88-2. Chinese assault rifle with the bizon mag. Holds 35 rounds?

Yeah, looks like the AKMS= Type 88-2

I dunno about having 35 rounds, the Bizon has 64 (9mm Makarov) or 50ish (9mm NATO) rounds- I know that the 7.62x39 is much larger than a pistol mag but to only gain 5 rounds for something that large, compared to the weapon, seems like you would be better off and end up lighter if you just issued RPK 45 round mags to everyone. Maybe they just don't look as cool for the photos?

UPDATE-

It looks like the complaint/ problem was only related to the actual IS flag, which was in one of the screenshots on the Steam Workshop page, which Steam Workshop flagged as Racist/ inappropriate. Dwarden said that the problem could be fixed by just removing the photos from the DL page and re-uploading the mod itself (because it was locked and couldn't be viewed because of the complaint)

Long story short, they are both (IS and ASG) back up on the Workshop, and I have them the same address so there should be no need to re-subscribe, it should just direct you to the new pages for the respective mod.

Nope, type 68s are 7.62 and 88s are 5.45, if you said it by the look of the mag, you can't always understand the right bullet type, like there are 7.62 bakelite and 5.45 steel magazines.

I've read that these rounds can hold 100 to 150 rounds

nah, I was going off the muzzle device- looked more like an AK-74 one than an AKM's slanted one. I'm not very good at AK's. Really 100 rounds? That's pretty amazing.

Syndikate Overhaul released

Nx4zzgH.jpg

A1eotOd.jpg

uUvrFaH.jpg

This mod is a total replacement of the Syndikate forces, bringing them more in line with modern day equipment, weapons and uniforms.
It works in the official Arma 3 Apex Campaign and custom scenarios that use the Syndikate faction will be using the new faction as well.

Historical Information-

Following a major earthquake in the Pacific island chain of the Horizon Islands, Tanoa's (formerly known as Lihir) small government police and military forces have been in escalating conflicts with the Rebel group known as "Syndikat', who are a sizeable insurgent force striking from the depths of the Tanoan Island's jungle regions, making them hard for COIN Tanoan or the NATO peacekeeper force to hunt down. The Syndikate are commanded by the gun runner known as Solomon Maru.

The Faction-

The group's equipment varies from Soviet era AKM's and AK-74's to the modern AK-100 series chambered in 7.62×39mm, which gives them considerable stopping power.
The AK100 and more advanced equipment are only used in large numbers by the better trained veteran forces, who can be distingished from the regulars by their Tiger-Stripe uniforms, with some veterans acting as team leaders for militia units. The Makarov and PP-2000 are the sidearms used by the Cartel forces.

Specialist Elements-

The Cartel is split between regular Cartel members, with ex-Tanoan armed forces and Paramilitary forces, who can be identified by their Tiger camo uniforms and improved equipment compared to the regular Cartel members.

Supports-

As a drug cartel, Syndikate have extensive supply lines, and transport illegal cargo via small aircraft such as Cesnas and small helicopters and boats. They lack heavy weapons such as mortars, relying on their ability to melt back into the thich jungle for avioding larger engagments with peacekeeping forces.

Faction has full Editor, Zeus, Task Force Radio and ALiVE support (faction name IND_C_F ) Also supports ACE3 Medical system.
It totally replaces the INDEP Syndikate faction in editor, Zeus, ALiVE and all scenarios played when the mod is enabled.

Downloads-

Steam Workshop- http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=906538619

Armaholic- http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=32669

Obviously requires Apex, and RHS Russia for other equipment.

Unrelated news, I seem to be making the first post on this forum topic incredibly large, so I may be cutting down on the images and such a bit, or not adding the new factions to the main post, instead just doing the release post and simple links to the downloads for each. The release posts will be staying in this ^ format because I like it.

I'm interested how you tell if something updates when I have no changelog posted here?

BTW- Changelog for 75th Ranger Regiment and PMC Contractors-

Bug fixes.

Also I should be have some bug fixes for the CAG and SFF vehicle pack soon, as the A3 update broke the MP7's (used by Delta/CAG Direct Action units) in Arsenal- Units are still functional from Editor or Zeus, but the MP7's have reverted to Vectors in Arsenal/

Yes, all factions will get replacements- the only exceptions will be unique campaign units like the (Altis) CTRG squad, Miller and his mates.

Tanoan CTRG will be getting replaced but because of the Apex Campaign's loadout/spawn system I do not know if it will work in the Apex campaign, it might just work in scenarios/ editor/Zeus.

What are people's thoughts on the PLA SF faction I did?

My post on the Steam Workshop page-

"The purpose of the mod when I originally made it was for a rather simple, easy to use faction using similar mods to my main SFF factions.

I did contact VME for permission to use his gear as a dependency for the mod and I never got a reply- I will NOT use someone else's gear without permission.

This faction is NOT of the PLA regular Army, but of one of their Special Forces units, which is why they are using some Western gear like Opscores- the few photos I have of Chinese Army SF have them wearing Opscores. VSM was chosen to keep the faction in line and make it easy to use for people using other SFF factions.

I've started to consider this my worst faction, as I was unable to gather proper sources on Chinese Special Forces equipment, or even some interviews with SF troops like I did for some of the Western groups, and it seems like none of the actual feedback I get here is positive, so the mod may be pulled from download if I feel like it's not of high enough quality."

TL-DR - Does anyone actually use or like the mod, or should it be pulled from download?

@jarrad96 PM inbound regarding PLA stuff.

'US Navy SEALS' to 'US Navy SEALS and USAF Pararescue' updated-

EPp3GFy.jpg

Added SFF logo to mod.
Added USAF Pararesue units.
Code clean-up, removed redundant files from download.

Name change from 'US Navy SEALS' to 'US Navy SEALS and USAF Pararescue'

Note- I added the PJ's a while back but didn't have any description text, photos ect of them. I also cleaned up the mod a bit, removed some redundant text files and such I had left in there by accident. Also added the SFF mod logo.

Added some already-released factions like SFF-R CAR to the main page, they were missing links.
