I've been considering expanding the Taliban (RHS version) slightly to include some of the lighter Ex-Soviet kit-

Static weapons like HMG's, Podnos mortars, ZSU-23's and perhaps some vehicles like the Ural truck, UAZ cars and maybe a BTR or very early T-72, if people wanted to represent the access to heavier assets such as during Operation Anaconda (2002) dug into the Shahi Kot Valley the Taliban had.

I was also considering as instead of 'SF' they would have some Taliban allied 'Warlord' troops, would would be  equipped with slightly better gear, perhaps body armor and more AK-74's rather than the almost 100% AKM force of the main Taliban- if anyone has better ideas for Taliban 'elite' forces, I'm all ears.

If people want the Taliban expanded like this, or have other ideas, post them below.

For the Taliban "SF", I suppose they could be made up of Foriegn fighters. Like Chechens or Saudi's and such. They would probably have better equipment to bring up as opposed to local fighters.

As for other ideas, maybe the Santa Blanca Cartel and La Unidad from Ghost Recon Wildlands?

Yeah, I've been talking with some people and will be using 'Red Unit' who are a force of Taliban and foreign fighters who were established around 2015 as elite forces who were focused on night raids and convoy ambushes on the ANA troops, and they are equipped with better gear like night vision scopes, body armor.

The new uniforms are coming for the NIA Spetznaz, it will just take a while as I'll be adding more units, like the SSO, to that faction to bring them both on par, rather than just the SURPAT units.

Canadian JTF-2 / CANSOF released-

Special Operation Forces Faction mod [SFF] that adds the Canadian JTF-2 from CANSOF to Arma 3. It is mostly based on domestic (within Canada itself) deployments of JTF-2, but also includes units in other camo patterns for other environments.

Historical Info-

JTF-2 is one of the more recently formed SOF groups, being established in 1993 after the disbandment of the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) Special Emergency Response Team, and instead forming a specialist unit within the Canadian Army.
Initial members were drawn from the Airbourne and Light infantry units, and JTF-2's first major missions took place in Afghanistan, notably during Operation Anaconda in 2002. JTF-2 forces have been deployed to the Afghanistan and Iraq area since then, up until the modern day. They are known to have worked with the U.S. Navy SEALs, the SAS and SBS in Libya, NZSAS ,the German KSK, Norwegian SOF, and ODA.

The Faction-

The JTF-2 in the faction are based mainly on domestic (within Canada) and international Afghanistan deployments from 2009 onwards. They are equipped with green furniture M4A1 Carbines (as a C8 stand-in) as their standard weapon, with small numbers of Daniel Defence Mk18 Carbines and supported by HK417's and SCAR-H's for 7.62 rifles. Standard launcher is the AT4 and the autorifleman carries a Minimi/SAW.

The JTF-2 uniform is Canadian CADPAT (Temperate Version) with Tan equipment, with small amounts of Multicam used in conjunction for some units.

Specialist Elements-

CANSOF specialist units are a dedicated Sniper Team, armed with a 338. Lapua Magnum and a HK417 for the spotter, and a Multicam equipped 'Recon' element, who are fully supressed and given Multicam uniforms, more suitable for desert fighting when compared to the CADPAT equipped main force.

A fireteam with an integrated demolitions expert is also included, originally planned to be a small Canadian Joint Incident Response Unit (CJIRU) Chemical Warfare team, but due to the lack of easily functional chemical warfare and gas masks in A3 they were converted into a demolitions team.

Supports-

A command and HQ element with an officer is part of the faction.

Faction has full Editor, Zeus, Task Force Radio and ALiVE support (faction name CAN ) Also supports ACE3 Medical system. JTF-2 are a BLUFOR faction.

Armaholic-

Note-

Gasmasks included in one of the pics are from Cunico's Hidden Identity V2, and are not included. The CADPAT uniforms are included in the faction mod, donated by VSM. Thanks to 'M' for equipment info about CANSOF forces 2016-2017.

@kecharles28 Would I be able to get PW6 mirrors of the mods set up?

@foxhound can I have the last few weeks of updates and releases posted on Armaholic?

@miller can I have some mirrors up as well on A3.de? You posted the first 2 factions or so and then stopped.

I think Steam Workshop, Armaholic, PW6 and Arma3.de covers all of the larger A3 mod sites, if anyone knows of others just say so.

Also, is there a way you can release some of these packs only using VSM and RHS? I don't want to use SMA in my group as it is old and updates haven't been released in almost a year. I would greatly appreciate a few of these factions with less dependencies!

The reason behind the SMA/NIA Versions is for smaller groups. Some people don't want to deal with RHS or CUP. Smaller file sizes, and all that jazz.

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing another uniform mod being used for the factions. I like VSM of course, just wouldn't mind more variety. However, I understand the need to keep file size and dependencies to a minimum of course. Overall, the quality of the factions is very high, and I'm very satisfied. Keep up the good work!

@Fros7bite

I do- Look for any SFF-R tagged factions, they all use RHS weapons instead of SMA. I usually work on both versions within a days of each other for newer factions, and I do plan to go through some older factions and offer RHS versions of those as well. Also, SMA does have some updates unofficially that fix the sound attenuation problem :)

Factions that use weapons RHS doesn't have usually won't get a RHS version though, for example anyone with bullpup's, SCAR's, G3's and such- in some cases, like the Abu Sayaff RHS version, I just removed those weapons and used more RHS AK's instead though.

Considering doing Slovakian 5th Special Forces Regiment

As an opportunity to use Project Honor camo, which seems to be closest to the correct camo. Thoughts?

EDIT- My image links seem to not work anymore? I usually use Discord for pictures, but Imgur for ^ seems to work fine. Should I re-upload everything to Imgur and host from there?

If you were using photobucket, they have changed there policy about using images on other websites. You now need to pay to do it. Imgur or Flickr are good hosts.

Well that's just great. I'll try and spend today transferring them all over to something that'll be visible.

EDIT-

327 Images later, it's done- all photos here have been re-hosted and should now work.

@foxhound

Thanks.

Canadian JTF-2, Tanoan Defence Forces and 2 versions of Taliban Insurgency [SFF and SFF-R] also released a page back, and there was an update for the British SAS.

I've been busy in the month you've missed :)
