Andy Pipkin 77 Posted March 23, 2016 Thank you PuFu for the wip news! That's makes me happy! :) VSS and AKS74U with the zeroing feature looks great! Will the AKS74U have a 45 round mag or only a 30 round mag? Can someone tell me what the difference between the AS VAL and VSS? I see the difference how they look, but maybe the caliber or where is the difference. I ask, because I don't understand why the russian army/police/special forces have booth weapons in use and not one of them. Thanks!
mistyronin 1181 Posted March 23, 2016 It's the same weapon system family. The VAL is the assault rifle variant and the VSS is the sniper rifle variant. That's pretty much it. They use the same ammo 9x39. In case you are curious there's also the SR-3 submachine gun variant, without suppressor.

I reed somewhere, sometime ago, one of them have maximum range 400m. Is this right? Thanks for reply mistyronin!

I ask, because I don't understand why the russian army/police/special forces have booth weapons in use and not one of them. Thanks! it's a bit like asking why there are so many variants of the the same M4s out there: different weapons for different purposes all around this really cool 9x39 cartridge...VSS was the first one made, compact sniper rifle that could fit in pretty small briefcase. The VAL is the assault rifle version - both natively suppressed, SR3(M ) is something between a sub-machine and an assault rifle (that 9x39 does pack a punch) plus a removable suppressor this time. Regarding the magazines, until there is way to exchange some mags (making mag a proxy BI !) there is very little point making these... EDIT yes, the 9x39 SPP round has an effective range of around 400m. Again, these are special purpose weapons, meant for breaching and urban deployment, not for main field operations: 700RPM almost no recoil high effective round. The difference in range is almost nil, but effective range is based on the type of bullet used. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9%C3%9739mm http://content.foto.mail.ru/mail/photoshooter/1643/s-2446.jpg

I know now more about these weapons. And I repeat looking the short video with the zeroing and I see the VSS have a 10 round magazine but the AS VAL in RHS have a 20 round mag. Is this correct? And again, thanks for the fantastic work you do! All the weapons, uniforms and vehicles look's great and you can think it's real. :) edit: thanks for your edit PuFu! armyguy277 23 Posted March 24, 2016 will there be an all black version of the AKS74U?
war_lord 934 Posted March 24, 2016 will there be an all black version of the AKS74U? I don't think they ever made a "modernized" version of the AKS74U, the weapon already has seriously bad issues with overheating with wooden handguards.

Madbrood 12 Posted March 24, 2016 I think he's referring to the prevalence of sight mounting brackets on the left side of airsoft AKS-74U receivers! Further, the AK-74 wiki article does state that the -74U was indeed manufactured with black polymer furniture, but no idea how widespread it was.
war_lord 934 Posted March 24, 2016 Further, the AK-74 wiki article does state that the -74U was indeed manufactured with black polymer furniture, but no idea how widespread it was. I can't seem to find their source for that, and pictures of the weapon with no other context aren't reliable since there's a lot of AKS-74U parts kits in the United States. I'm not saying they don't exist, I'm saying there's no solid evidence online that they do.
bars91 956 Posted March 24, 2016 ?? what? I mean that airsoft aks-74u's almost always come with dovetail sight mounts and real 74u's are issued with none. Therefore, most game designers use airsoft versions for 3d meshes rather then doing some actual research and/or consulting people who deal in history/actual firearms. Thus we end up with Call of Honor: Advanced Battlefield's full of 74u's with red dots, PSO's and whatnot...
AKM762 4 Posted March 24, 2016 That's how original polymer furniture looked like (was never mass produced) - https://i.imgur.com/ACDaAqK.jpg http://imgur.com/LhfSUSb Anyway, I think "N" model with rail for night vision sight and "B" model with PBS will be nice addition even though that's kinda rare variants and not really used now. Memura Takahashi 690 Posted March 24, 2016 hello,RHS teamï¼I so love USAFï¼But the army combat uniform's body is so strong……I think...It makes the Russian soldiers and U.S.marines look very thin……( ̄ー ̄)
EricJ 763 Posted March 24, 2016 As a former Soldier the amount of gear naturally "inflates" the normal human body size as it protrudes more than Russian gear, which is fairly slim in comparison, so looking at the Russian soldiers versus US Army/Marine setups, looks pretty much on the spot.

EricJ 763 Posted March 24, 2016 I'm not sure what you mean, I'm 6'4" and hardly a small guy in overall bulk. Not so much fat but just a big dude, so yes there are some Really Big Dudes in the Army but really most either Big or obese Soldiers only have issues. Like one Soldier when I went through Basic (or in one of my units, it's been a minute) had to get size 14 Boots because his feet were rather large. So here's a picture of me in Afghanistan in 2008-09 and I'm apparently wearing an IOTV quite well: http://562.50megs.com/Eric/2780_68592444854_7022462_n.jpg So if my fat ass back then can wear an IOTV so can most others. But on the whole, if a Soldier is too fat in the first place, then he/she shouldn't be in a combat role, unless they have a documented thyroid problem. Other than that there are various sizes, so I'm not sure why this topic is brought up, other than to crack on the US Army. And furthermore, RHS uses the generic A3 body as a model for all their gear, like every other modders, unless they want to model small and Big dudes. Even the USMC has fat Marines.
