[MELB] Mission Enhanced Little Bird

This project is meant to represent the A/MH-6M special operations helicopter.

Features:

Current:
-assign a hotkey to helicopter gear up and down to activate and change camera modes on the FLIR MFD
-Most accurate models we can create (WIP)


Planned:
-Service Menu (Custom weapon load-outs, switch from attack to transport and vice versa, additional fuel tanks)
-Accurate Flight Model

 

Helicopter variants:

- AH-6M: FLIR/2xMiniguns/2x7-shot FFAR default loadout with a great variety of weapons to choose from with the dynamic loadout system

- MH-6M: FLIR/Benches, 6 passengers

- OH-6M: FLIR/Stripped MELB

- HE Hydra warhead

- Flechette Hydra warhead

- Illuminating Flare Hydra warhead

- MPSM Hydra warhead

- AGM-114 Hellfire

Hi everyone! Update's out on the SW if anyone's still subscribed to that! If not, click here. 


Note: Due to the addition of the loadout system, we've removed the preset Light, Medium and Heavy AH-6 classes from the editor. So now there's only 1 main AH-6M class to pick from. You can then choose a loadout by either using the dynamic loadout presets(make sure to select whether a gun/rocket is operated by pilot or copilot) or coming up with your own combination. For now the previously used classes are just hidden to avoid breaking any missions that still use them. In a future update we will be remo

- TOW functionality from guided rockets since ACE3 lasers work again.

  So now even when using ACE you can lock onto laser, cycle to desired rocket, lock on and fire!

   -Hellfire/DAGR Instructions:

   NOTE: To keep these weapons usable with ACE, we have made them work like TOWs for now. This means that if you fire without a laser lock, the missile will follow the crosshair regardless. They have limited maneuverability, so a shot 90 degrees off bore might not hit its intended target. Laser lock is slightly more accurate.

   1. Activate laser on helicopter.

   2. Cycle to Hellfire or DAGR

   3. Lock on to laser from Helicopter or laser from infantry/other vehicles using "T"(Lock Target) or "R"(Next Target).

   NOTE: On occasion, the locked-on hexagon does not move with the laser, but the missile WILL track the laser.

   4. Fire.

   5. Track your target.

   6. Keep it steady.

   7. Profit, aka watch it go boom.

Loving this Littlebird. One issue I noticed was that the helicopter's searchlight doesn't actually light up an area at night. Wasn't on the list of known bugs so I figured I'd post about it.

They fly like a dream, but it seems like they REALLY don't like hard landings too much. Not sure if it was just me, but it seems like the skid mechanics from vanilla don't seem to apply too well.

I'll talk to sykoCrazy and hear his thoughts on fast roping.

That "ghetto" sight will be fixed up a bit to make it look nicer. Interestingly enough, I read in a 160th book that they actually use it. As far as in game goes, I feel more accurate with it.

The vanilla mechanics are not the best, we'll have to raise the armor values to make it more functional for those harder landings.

Searchlights are cool, but as far as we know they're not used in the Little Bird. It has that fixed forwad-facing landing light. Copilots can use the FLIR to search for targets :D

Well i wanted to bring some light on the Stingers. It says dismissed but in the Wkik Link. It shows x2 Stinger Missiles. Possibility of 1x M320 also that is listed.

Dude, I love this bird!!! I LOLed when i saw the crosshairs!

Couple o' bugs:

1- the m134 burst modes don't change in the UI.

2- FLIR has no info, feel free to use the UI in my mod!

3- When using NVGs the airspeed indicator and the VVI are way to bright to read properly, same for the attitude indicator.
