AIF_Infantrymen 264 Posted December 8, 2014 (edited) I like this sound mod better then JSRS, but can you make a sound replacement file for RHS: Escalation weapon sounds the mod would be great with the SoS sounds Edited December 8, 2014 by Aussie Digger

bigpickle 0 Posted December 8, 2014 (edited) Hi guys, seen there are a few issues with choppies and what not that slipped through the net. Will work at getting a hotfix out to address those issues this week so hang tight on that one as my job takes up most of my time. Those who are using a 5.1 system, thats what i developed the mod on so I've added some suggested audio settings to the main post that for me at least brings out the most of speed of sound pure. Finally with reference to volumes. This new arma engine is a funny old beast when it comes to audio and it seems VERY hard to pin a happy medium without loosing detail to volume, some testers stated too loud some too quiet, all had a full range of onboard and pcie soundcards, so I took an exceutive decision to try to meet a central area where its acceptable for all users without loosing the detail. That's certainly the only viable way to do it anyways. ;) I've got the feeling that the volumes of sonic cracks somehow depend on the map you're playing on. On Altis the cracks are loud and frightening (just how I like it), but on maps like Chernarus from AiA-TP they seem to be almost not audible.
JimiEZ 10 Posted December 8, 2014 Err, is my mod bugged out or something, or are the weapons really supposed to sound like airsoft guns?
Fushko 59 Posted December 8, 2014 Great, you're finally back :) I was wondering, does SOS still make non audio-related changes to the game? I remember stuff like different blood particles back then.
Gripfire 10 Posted December 8, 2014 (edited) MATE! So glad to see you back and on board. I almost squealed like little little pig when I saw you've uploaded a new version. My girl friend rolled her eyes.... pfft she won't understand. I played all afternoon. Testing them out. Loads of fun. 1. Explosions: Yes yes and yes. Frags - The "ping" sound when they leave the hand and thrown. Love it. The CRUMP of the round going off. Even the sound of the frag bouncing off the ground is great. Grenade Launchers and impacts all good! This is the ear porn that I love most of your work. :D (What are your thoughts on having them bumped up in volume "just" a little - especially large and at distance impacts) Mortar impacts - You used to have impacts that had a real "CRUMP" to them. They're still great, however more like a quick "Bang" than a slow "Crump" currently (Anyone else agree?) Vehicle Explosions - OMG - DUDE these are EPIC. The rounds cooking off at distance also adds perfect touch. 2. Ambience: Yep, sounds good here thumbs UP! Love the main screen mouse click sound effects. Love the rain and Weather SFX too. Night Time insertions are fun too. The walking/Running movement sounds I like, but again - "Just" a little louder would be perfect. DEAD BODIES: I am not sure about the instant sound of fly's hovering over all dead bodies. Perhaps after a few minutes? Shooting someone and then getting their gear 10 seconds later with the loud buzzing, I feel took the immersion out of it. (What does anyone else think of this?) 3. Guns Guns Guns. I like the style you've chosen. The echo/reverb off the walls and mountains is great and immersive. NEGEV is SEX MK200 also SEX VS-121 - SEX GM6 & M200 Nice! Sonic Cracks and whiz by's also very immersive... crap when a bulled cracks past I know it. As mentioned by Drakedge the audio levels are a tad low on all the weapons. BUT I love the re-load sounds and the "PING!" That goes before it when there's no round in the chamber Back on low sounds, currently .50 sounds more like 7.62 than 12.7. What do you think? Suppressors - Hmm not too sold on them just yet. They're nice, but "too soft"... in first person. I know here we go, interpretation right? Expect - Mini Guns. Mate they're good, but SO loud! Even at distance they're deafening out the rest of the firing going on around. HA ha. I mean I have to turn the head phones down. It's just Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!! Tank main guns! Weow that's cool too. 4. Launchers Love the SPIKE/Titan launcher SFX. Plus Reload sounds Tops. - RPG-42 - The rounds seems to have no "drop" - with the sights I have to aim directly at distance. ALSO a note to all AGM mod users... I found SOME weapons not sounding due to the fact of the agm_realisticnames.pbo file. I moved this aside and the mod now reverts back to vanilla weapon names however SOS pure works properly. Over all... Mate this has really grown on me. Your fire fight ambient sounds are something else. Edited December 8, 2014 by Gripfire
flex242 11 Posted December 8, 2014 There is maybe a Bug ..... most of the Tracks in the Editor get lost when the mod is running. But the Mod sounds very good !!
mikey74 186 Posted December 8, 2014 (edited) Sounds are pretty good Bigpickle. I was wondering if you can help. When I have SOSP running none of AISS modules nor the category for AISS show up. Other than that Its great. Thanks for all the work you've put into this! :) CHANGE that: Reloaded everything again and AISS category and modules show. Not sure what happened there, but its working now! Wierd.. lol BTW changed my settings for sound and WOW even better!!!!! Thanks BP Edited December 8, 2014 by Mikey74
bigpickle 0 Posted December 8, 2014 (edited) Mod is client side only and effects sounds so it shouldnt affect anything else unless another mod changes the same sounds. No effort has been made to change fire rates, recoils, blood or any other visual effects. I'm reading and taking note of the bugs too. The only adverse effect on ammo/fire rates etc would come from class dependecy changes made by BIS and not updated by me or mistakes made by me. I will spend a little time going over those things to make sure inherencies are all correct. The DLC helicopter PBO's & BISigns have issues, BIS still havent released the configs so I cant get the proper inherency trees, it seemed to work so I left them in but now appears to be sketchy, will let you know if i find a solution or to delete them. And oh course thank you for all the praise guys its really appreciated and makes me glad to share even though its been a bit of a bumpy release. It was very much spur of the moment or I'd never get it out this side of Christmas. Sounds are pretty good Bigpickle. I was wondering if you can help. When I have SOSP running none of AISS modules nor the category for AISS show up. Other than that Its great. Thanks for all the work you've put into this! Thanks BP Thanks for checking that out and glad that change to 48000Hz made the difference for you, on my system it truely "opens up" the sounds. mikey74 186 Posted December 8, 2014 ohhh here is a video of a small rifle battle. Ignor the AI movement. I'm experimenting with suppression. lol
soldaten 0 Posted December 8, 2014 Hello guys, Love the MOD and I am a big fan!!.. I did notice that when using some units the sounds do not work. Is this because the mod is not made for all Units/Addons?? or am I missing something?? Plz help
taumargin 13 Posted December 8, 2014 Hey, I eventually got to play this mod and my first impressions are it's very different from the last. It feels more like a modern theater of war soundscape (if that makes sense) that we're used to seeing from the likes of Afghanistan through a gopro type cam (thats no reflection on audio quality, but realism). The distance cracks and pops sound more distant to me if that makes sense, they sound spot on I love them. There are problems with some small arms near/mid distance effects as mentioned. At one point I could hear a rifleman unloading his clip and could not see him, he was on the other side of a building (100m+) but sounded in close proximity. Love the fact that suppressed weapons have a subtle reverb indoors and like the new suppressor sound effect. The explosions are great nice and meaty, will sound great through a sub I imagine. Pleased to see you haven't changed the Comanche too much, I absolutely loved that sound in SOS  Great ambience effects, nothing to repetitive and no obvious loop points. The character movement sound effects sounded very low IMO when compared to the ambience effects etc. It almost felt like I was stealthily sneaking around even when sprinting through grass and on concrete. Just my first impressions, but this mod is staying in my modset. Great work
jumpinghubert 49 Posted December 8, 2014 Many thanks at first for the soundmod, bigpickle! I tested the mx-rifles in first person mode at first because thats my key-test for soundmods. Sad to say it: sounds like paintball......sorry for this short and negative feedback :( My soundrig: high quality hifi headphones, headphone amp, x-fi-extreme music in cmss2-headphone mode. dark_spectre 2 Posted December 8, 2014 does this make the DLC choppers dissapear for anyone else? Both myself and another friend were mission building last night (I have the DLC pack, he does not) and he can confirm that along with myself enabling SOS_Pure makes the HURON and other DLC choppers unavailable when on. Is this behavior unique to us, or is this happening to anyone else? thanks all

soldaten 0 Posted December 9, 2014 I think is because the Mod only Client-based and some mods are not designed to run with this Sound Mod. Someone correct me if Im wrong.
devilslayersbane 28 Posted December 9, 2014 I think is because the Mod only Client-based and some mods are not designed to run with this Sound Mod. Someone correct me if Im wrong. No, the gunshots actually sound very similar to their closing sounds.
