Campaign Episode 3: WIN - Feedback thread ** SPOILER WARNING! **

Recommended Posts

Actually I don't get the endings

If you stay with NATO, NATO won, but if you helped Miller and his "super weapon", NATO loses.

How does that make sense? Unless Miller was using it against NATO(like wipe out Sixth Fleet so CSAT could counter attack)

And how does this machine actually work as a weapon? it has zero impact as far as Kerry could see.

They're different endings.

And from my point of view it seemed to be implied that it was an earthquake generator.

I'm in the last mission, the epilogue. I found a Kuma with several red areas. I have a explosive specialist with a tools package, but I can't get him to repair it. Is it normal?

Maybe because he is not a repair specialist. Those are the guys with the tools. It might be coded for only them. In real life your explosive guy might not know how to fix even with tools.

I'm glad to see that you included the

submarine

after all. I didn't see anyone talking about it since alpha. Why can't you make it accessible in editor?

First Mission

When approaching the final objective, Kerry gave the all clear to crossroads and the game autosaved. The hill wasn't clear and I lost a bunch of guys. Got stuck in a save-death loop for a bit.

This. Feels a bit weird to be engaged in a firefight with several enemies while saying in the radio that the hill is clear.

Oh, and please please do not slow this mission down, like it just the way it is.

Guys, game crashing on the 5th mission "Preventing Diplomacy" on any attempt to save. Auto-save crashes the game too.

Sorry about this. FPDR

Fix will be available in the Development Branch at around 15pm (CET).

We can suppose CSAT involvement was because the superweapon, in first place, like Miller. If you don't help Miller, the little enemy CSAT squad that is there takes the weapon just before their forces retreat in secret. If you help Miller, the secret truck is gone and CSAT chooses to do a second invasion this time in force to find it before Miller can extract it by sea or whatever.

Of course, no idea of what the hell was the super weapon and earthquakes. At first I thought it was some underground nuclear tests, but it seems another thing?

Yeah, it better be companheiro :torture:

The campaign so far has been enjoyable,

except for the first mission where I got killed so many times by the armor coming from the airport :D

Oh and on the planes:

1. The interior and extended functionality of the MFD's are nice :).

2. I don't suppose we can get a little more spread for the Wipeout's GAU?

3. It's the near future and there aren't any bright neon lights in any of them... what up with that?

I agree, why not include it in the editor? I can't think of a good reason why. I had to go into the mission.sqm and tinker with the classnames to get access to it -- which isn't hard to do, but it would be nice to have editor access.

Fifth mission Paradise Found - NATO path

Crossoads instruction are a bit too confusing. He talks about Echo, Delta and Golf without explaining which is which, and in the text briefing and goals in the map view isn't also explained. It isn't very clear what you have to do, for example the map have marked a hill but Crossroads didn't mention it. I mean, I know already what you are supposed to do after doing a pair of tries, I'm putting myself in the skin of a more noob player.

edit: And I started the mission with two uav terminals, one from the previous mission? and one new. You shouldn't add it if the player already has one.

Tremor device? It seems like, and it's very heavily implied, that that is what the device is for.

Yeah, but it's a scifi concept as hell. The Earth is very big, if you haven't noticed :P, a human made device with the enough energy to shake an entire region, in 2035... pfft.

In Preventive Diplomacy, after securing the Solar farm (Gamma), Crossroad tells Nomad and Charlie 2-3 to dig in at Gamma, but then he tells Delta 2-3 and Nomad to attack Kappa. He tells Nomad to do two different things.

Also, the above dialogue occurs even if Delta 2-3 gets wiped out. There should be a contingency for that.

I guess there is a body clean-up thing because I had all the dead AAF bodies disappear in front of me after the solar farm is secured.

Btw, also in Preventive Diplomacy, once you regroup with the IFV to attack the town... is the IFV supposed to fight along you, like in the previous missions? He stays in the same point all the battle.

In MORAL FIBER, when in the vehicle, Crossroad is speaking to Kerry.

However, instead of "Crossroad", the name is "@STR_A3_Corssroad".

Same for SERPENT group - it's "@STR_A3_Serpent".

Fix needed here please.

This episode was pretty short and disappointing, the storyline was stupid:

-An earthquake device! BIS scrapped the railgun but added an earthquake device instead? Makes no sense

-If you end up helping miller, he just screws you without explaining anything but the fact it's an earthquake device. Why is there no closure?

-How did british intelligence know about the device while the US didn't, plus they essentially fucked the US/Nato by creating a second CSAT invasion. Why did they not tell the US about it and spare the losses of many

NATO servicemen due to the second invasion.

-For such an important device the protection for it was shoddy. Most of the CSAT soldiers in the base were killed(by who? James was in a checkpoint far away, no way he could have ramboed and killed them all)

-How did NATO not even notice a biodome or an existing and obvious CSAT base within its captured territory.

Well, it was nice of BIS to add the big submarine to the game, it's clear that it bigger purposes before the whole campaign/story direction shifted.

Where do you find the Sub?!

Where do you find the Sub?!

In the mission Paradise lost, if you choose to help James, you eventually go to a ruins where Miller is. About north-east of there you should see a submarine, probably the one from which Miller's team operates.

You can spawn it as an object in the editor using some trick, see here: http://www.reddit.com/r/arma/comments/20ec2a/big_sub_from_the_old_screenshots_is_back_howto_in/

I checked out the submarine, it's not functional, just a static prop with some buggy collisions. But hopefully some modder might make it functional.

So, it's not only in "MORAL FIBER", but in lot of missions.

Need to be checked and fix before release.

Ok, so if CSAT special forces failed their mission, they launched a second invasion.

But how could they pull a full scale invasion in such short time? And how could NATO not realize a full scale invasion is underway?

It was fine , just too short

also they didnt said anything new about Miller , about his mission , who send him , how they knew about csat weapon etc

same thing about CSAT and their device - whole earthquake thing looks like from The Dark Knight Rises which Bane used in the movie :D

It more reminded me of the microwave emitter device from Batman Begins (supposedly invented for desert warfare, to cripple an armies' water supply when besieging something), where it's then

stolen by the League of Shadows on a boat and used in Gotham city.

Regarding the actual device thing in the campaign, maybe

Maybe the British, or some higher-ups in the western world, want to use the earthquake emitter device to invade an area which is a part of CSAT? But from the looks of the earthquake device in the campaign, it doesn't really do much. It may do more against a target with significant infrastructure though, like a city. Are we going to go to an urban environment in the expansion, which has suffered a massive earthquake? Doubt it, but ArmA IV? Who knows
