Blastcore A3

I tried running A2 WarFX Particles in Arma 3, mostly works but it seems that the any larger explosions kick up a huge square of dust kind of like what you'd see from a GBU-12 in Arma 2. Probably just a config issue.

I almost wish people would stop being so excited for this now. We've had a 60 second video teaser and nothing barring words since, yet 20 pages of discussion about how awesome the features will undoubtedly be! I keep seeing the thread bumped, and instantly begin hoping that it's going to be new content (or at least videos of) and instead finding its another well-wisher. Curse your collective happiness for deceiving me once more! ;)

Well honestly if that 60 second vid is anything to go by its very promesing. Besides I'm sure Opticalsnare knows what he's doing now a lot more then when he released the first WarFX on Arma 2. But I somewhat agree, people shouldn't expect things to be working and smooth from the start. There will always be problems, besides its not fair to put Opticalsnare under too much pressure, he's good but he's not a miracleworker, no offence...

You clearly never used Blastcore in Arma 2 then. He did one helluva job, honestly even though there are some bugs with porting the A2 version to A3, it it's already leaps and bounds ahead of what BIS had in place.

That should be more than enough to hold people over until Optical is ready to release. You can't expect community members to work on a community timeline. They are doing this for no compensation, let him work at his own pace.

Its worth the wait. I want to finish the effects so they arnt half-finished but it almost there, id say its about 70% done.

PLEASE increase the bullet splash/blood splash like you did in A2. That is one of my favourite parts about blastcore. I hate not being able to see where my bullets are landing.

He did, but he still had to work within the restrictions of the engine. Something only BI can really improve on, so what I'm trying to say is that people shouldn't expect BF3 or Crysis like explosions...

I tried to run A2 Blastcore WarFX on Arma 3, it's actually working with lot of issues. But really the grenade explosion is gorgeous ! this smoke, dusts and sparks ! that alone put vanilla effects to shame :)

wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a lil speechless..... Gorgeous looking!!!! I think I messed myself, and I have drool foaming out my mouth!!!!! lol wow.... Just wow. I think jsr sound mod, with tpw's mod and yours == completeness in the arma 3 pack. I cant hardly wait!!!!!! I want to beg really really bad. BUT with that I'll stop my fingers and go back to testing. Looking forward to your release. :)

what the hell guys, stop talking about these hollywood effects.

The best effects are reallisitc effects, screw bf, crysis and blood splatter shit this is something you never see in real life.

If you have really good realisitc effects and sound it is enough to get a powerful feeling in the game, nothing could beat it.

Actually BF3 effects are quite representative.

JDAMs? Pretty much hollywood in real life.

Bofors guns (switch to 1:10) Pretty much hollywood too

Leopard 2 shooting a bus - Hollywood much?

Despite this its not that Armas effects are not hollywood enough - they are simply very very badly made.

Even in Red Orchestra Rising storm the mortar/artillery explosions look better and that game is OLD.

And the wrecks we got in Arma 3 are from the last century. Black textures all over? That is plain laziness. Even world of tanks manages to show off impressive tank wrecks with fire out of the tower etc. But not so our all realistic Arma 3. No it goes with black boxes.

So for the record: We are not looking for hollywodish effects (even though explosions DO look hollywoodish in real life) but for finally some GOOD ones.

Ps: Oh and hollywood much??!?!

No. Particles do not interact with objects only the terrain.

hmmm, maybe one could script some helicopter downwash under the roof when explosion is detected, should force smoke out the doors instead of it going through the roof (at least it works with smokeshells, haven´t tested with other smoke types)

*being that silly idea guy posting workarounds for bi´s laziness* :D

I can't be borthered to try new things out anymore. 98% of the time u just end up wasting your time and the result is just a pile of poop. I once spent 2 whole days trying a new method of making a explosion look better and in the end it still looked like crap and even worse.

Can fully understand that. When most of the time spent working on ArmA stuff is not actual development time but some sort of bugfixy,workaroundish,messcontrol to get your idea working in the engine, it´s becoming more & more hard to motivate yourself sufficiently.

Still holding fingers x´ed for blastcore :)
