TMR Modular Realism

Recommended Posts

Tao, can you confirm that just -disabling- the optics mod isn't enough? I have to delete your pbo for the optics to stop using them? That definitely sounds like a bug.

Correct. You'll need to move the PBO out of the folder or delete it. This is an effect of how the game handles mods made up of many PBOs. It's not really a bug, but it is confusing.

Thanks a lot!

I enjoyed the GIF in any case. It reminded me of some of the things my PCML guidance did when I was first working it up. My favorite dev bug: the missile would fly towards the target, stop, turn around, fly back, and hit me.

Hi great work and great mod

Since I have only included the optic pbo's, but I just wanted you to write about bugs:

The slant of the rear sight (if you lean out to side) does not work. Itis already horizontal.

Moreover, ARCO has the info "6.5 mm" at the bottom. Is this designed for 6.5mm ammo? Because I can indeed mount to the EBR and this has 7,62mm??

Do I have to activate the core keybindings in my expansion even if I use only the optic pbo's?

cheers and very nice mod.

Tao....have you found out why the optics are not working on multi monitors yet?

Tao... if you could get me a Schmidt & Bender Horus H58 reticle on a scope I will love you FOREVER. So much better then the Mil Dot CC type reticle. I know you are just modding the existing sights and systems but this would work wonders.

Also since this is the "future" it would make more sense to go to newer style systems and reticles then the good old boys.

Holy f, I'll need a master degree to understand that scope.

- Nevermind -

Yay!

Just tried v3.0.5 and 2D scope is broken for me. See pic below. My screen resolution is 7680 x 1440 across triple screens using nvidia surround. Not sure what the aspect ratio is.

Would anyone know how to fix this? Prefer 2D scopes =)

@Glip = Actually that reticle is really easy to use and learn. I will explain here.

The Horus reticle is a upgrade of the standard Mil Dot CC reticle. It is grided reticle with 1 mil marks vertical and horizontal with subtended marks at .2 mils up and down as well as left and right. Which makes for really accurate range and wind-age adjustments. It looks really busy I know, but when I first used one at the range shooting .338 out to 800 yards I fell in love with it. I wasn't leaving the wrong dope or settings on the rifle and I was mostly just doing holds to hit my targets. When you first use it you'll find yourself focusing on the reticle but after a little while you'll find yourself focusing on the target and using the reticle as a reference point so you just need to find the actual hold you need to hit the target. That makes it the only part of the reticle that you end up focusing on. You can use it easilly for observation, hitting movers, snaps, etc. There is really nothing to it, it's just another mil based system and you just don't have to dial anymore (or setting your BS zero anymore, THANKS BI).

So if you look at the standard Mil Dot CC reticle you have your normal heavy duplex and 1 mil marks on the vertical and horizontal crosshairs. Some also come subtended with marks at the .5 mils up and down and left and right. Now usually with these scopes I do what's called the poor mans horus rather then max point blank or the 500 hold over and hold under drill. These techniques are used to gauge targets at range without having to do the math. With the poor mans horus I can set my zero at 600m which will be at the center of the crosshairs which will put 100m roughly at the top duplex. So now I can easilly shoot targets from 100 to 1000 with ease without having to change the zero or guess. If I see my target is roughly at 300 +/ - meters I know I need to hold at 1.5 mils from the top, etc. Where the problem comes with mil dot reticles is wind-age. If the target it moving or your shooting at ranges where wind is effecting the bullet (again thanks BI from dropping the ball again) you half to hold out in space and kinda guess that your at the right point. With the horus you don't have to do that since all the mil holds are right there for you to reference. You can set the zero to 100m and have all of your holds out to 1000. With all the subtended marks for both range and wind-age it takes out all of the guessing when you take those precious saving your buddy shots.

Can you decrease the aimsway a bit. It's seems not realistic for me even I have never shot. When I try to shoot with 4x scope standing up, it is still not intuitive. Why soldiers in reality would have for example an ACOG 4x if it will not help them to shoot even at 100 meters?

Do you use the "hold your breath" key ?

I was just wondering how I can use this mod to play on Multiplayer servers, is there anyway? some servers allow it but main servers like AhoyWorld EU servers tell me i have to delete the TMR stuff, is there anyway to over ride it or am I just out of luck. Thanks!

We use TMR on our public server, and install it for all players that use the repo from our web page! :)

Oh yeah - triple-head screen optic errors I said a while ago I'd post some. Resolution is 5017x964, aspect ratio 12:3 - Triple Head

First let me start off by saying, this mod is awesome...must-have for me in ArmA 3 at the moment.

However, a couple of things I've noticed:

1) The PLoS with the PCML seems either bugged, or incredibly difficult to use. It took me several re-tries of the tutorial mission to get it to actually hit the moving vehicle. Most of the time it would fire far over the target, even though I had my reticule on the target, moving smoothly the entire time.

2) The actual reticule on the RPG-42 does not seem to be the correct one that is shown in the tutorial.

Not running any other mods that should conflict with TMR.

Thats an on-going issue unfortunately. If you went back some pages you would of seen me asking the same question XD

lol fair enough. did go back a few pages (maybe too many) and noticed that a couple of updates made the 2d scopes ratio independent. oh well, hopefully some new updates will address the issue for us =)

I don't think the tutorial is setting out to replicate what is in-game. Only to explain the concept to you. The concept works perfectly with the current IG reticle.

If you read the changelog, the new scope from the tutorial was temporarily removed.

I have a bit of a problem using your mod: when I do the tutorial missions, the key assigned to "Bipod Deploy", or to use the predictive launch of the PCML appear as "undefined". What are those keys and how can i bind them?

The key is unbound by default. You can find in in Controls > Weapons > Next target. I bound it to tabulator.

Horus reticle is a planned addition, along with the real reticle for the HAMR. (HAMR is currently using a different Leupold reticle which I felt more suitable for 6.5mm ballistic profile.)

RPG-42 tutorial isn't relevant right now, but I expect to redo BI's reticle before long. Freaking dust-covered, scratched up, dark-edged piece of ...

The PCML is hard to use because of the launcher aimsway. I am considering adding a 'self-deploy' feature to replicate the monopod thing on the NLAW. This would steady your tracking a bit and help get the PK up to real-life statistics.

I'm super busy in real life right now so TMR hasn't gotten much attention, but I will hopefully be addressing the triple head optics issue together with 0.4.
