There's a need to take a look at these issues. Right now, they are a nuisance to commanding AI in vehicles, and the ticket has been open for a long time and received surprisingly little attention. Am I the only one driving around in vehicles together with AI?

I like the work "full control". If AI is not smarter than Forrest Gump, then make it a good follower.

Oh yes please. This is something I have been requesting since Arma 2

Simply make it an action menu entry. (Not the mousewheel menu, but category 6 of the AI command menu)

Funny thing is, that in OFP you could have ordered a seperate, subordinate tank to reload a different ammo. Not anymore since Arma 1 and it has never been fixed.

You can order it, but it is complicated. You need to select the gunner of that vehicle, wait until the commander orders to select the main gun, then open the action menu and tell the subordinate to change the ammo while he has the weapon selected.

In combat, not workable.

The AI should switch between HE and AP on their own anyways.

Also maybe un-related to AI but it would be nice if vehicle lights stay off when I exit a vehicle with AI still on board, Surely this is a bug that's from Arma 2?

This! Please, this.

On another note, is there currently a way to stop AI mate from scanning horizon or watching a direction once he has been ordered to do so?

The AI even still can't distinguish group targets and single target.

"No target" command should work for this.

Or if the lights simply "remembered" in what state a player left them before exiting the vehicle (if the driver seat is empty of course).

Does anyone else have problems getting AI vehicles engage infantry targets? I'm revealing all enemy units to a platoon of tanks that sits about 800 meters away from the enemy. They have a clear sight and so forth. I'm revealing the enemy with the max knowledge value (4 that is) and the tank AI just doesn't engage the enemy. I've tried all combat modes and behaviours (combat, free to engage fire at will etc...) but nothing helps.

Getting out of vehicle means turning off the engine and lights. Ejecting means letting both of them running. I would dare to say that there seems to be a possibility to handle that already :icon_twisted:

It doesn´t always work like expected though. Lets say you are the driver and you have an AI gunner. If you have your lights off and get out of the vehicle, the gunner will switch them on. Imho gunners shouldn´t be able to control Headlghts at all.

BIS please learn something from mainstream RTS game!

in the rev. 116121 I still can't force my AI team to follow me due to they found some targets! How dare the stupid AI disobey me and ruin my plan? Why they always never understand retreat forever?

Yes maybe you and others must say ARMA3 is not RTS game, but in mainstream RTS game AI are always obedient and effective.

IF AI in ARMA series are still keeping disordered and disobeyed and uneffective that's why ARMA can't rise to a new level since OFP:R.

Dude's got a point; even if A3 isn't an RTS. If any soldier (or sailor in my case) had disobeyed my direct order to hold fire and stay in formation, his ass would have been court-martialed.

On another, rather important note, please educate my AI drivers where the "reverse" position on the gear shift is. Might seem useless to some, but reversing in a tank to duck behind a building to dodge the AT soldier aiming at you can make all the difference, TUSK or not.

Put the vehicle crew in stealth stance. Presto, lights off.

Maybe they want to attract german gamers. The mainstream says "in a democtatic army, first think, then follow orders". Which is wrong. Either trust, or don't be part of. Its like with closed source software.

Yes, Arma Ai too often does not follow my commands.

Check out the way the AI fly the embarrassingly named wipeout, like a ship on rough seas, up down up down. Looks so stupid, i tried doing what they do and it resulted in an unrecoverable stall.

I'm hoping that there are massive changes to the Wipeout, as it really isn't fit for purpose at the moment. AI flight is hilarious - are they trying to jink and fool AAA?

DEVS thank you for your work to give us maps and campaigns, but there things that are missing let me list them for you.....

1) Fix the freaking AI Why is it that every patch messes something up aka AI.. I cant tell you how many times I have seen my Ai team mate stand up and get killed in a firefight or not use buildings like real people would to help from getting shot. I use Bcombat AI MOD to help with these problems, but every time there is a update it messes it up. This problem with the Ai has been a issue since Arma 2/CO please freaking fix this, people have just had it.which brings me to number 2 point

2) DEVS listen to the people that tell you whats wrong dont give us stuff that's useless to use,IE new maps and campaigns that most of us cant play because performance is crap low fps's..which brings me to number 3 point...

3) No one can play a game correctly if the FPS is crap fix the Performance this too has been a issue since Arma 2/CO...Thanks

1. Everyone has mentioned that

2. Environment/level designers have their own job, making islands and campaigns.

3. Everyone has mentioned that

4. Try to be more polite instead of acting like an asshat.

Look here its not just me saying this and, I have you know I have been patient about this in fact so patient that I help test ai mods like bcombat to help this develop so people can have a good AI to use because BIS can't seem to get it right since Arma2/CO days and the problems still exist. So that is like 6 years of being patient so you tell me who is patient. Not to mention the fps problems but I digress I already mention this thanks.

I have a serious complaint about the current state of the game.

The driving AI is broken!

They always try to cut corners, especially in right turns. In right turns they never stay on the road. This results in them ramming into stones, walls, bushes, wooden poles etc.

A very simple repro. Set up a SUV at Fotia, that is on the west coast, just north of Agios Konstantinos, and give it a waypoint in Oreokastro. I guarantee you that the AI won´t be able to drive 500meters down that road without busting the tires.

And it is not only that road the AI can´t navigate, there are many more. It has been like this since the alpha. Could you please fix this already? Just make them stay on the road if there is a right turn.

I know that the driving AI in Arma2 were never great but they have definately taken a step backwards in Arma3. Now that the campaign is now complete we REALLY need effort directed at the AI. Pathfinding is pretty bad. Do we (BIS) need another AI solution as the current AI will never be tweaked out of their current state. Perhaps a radical rethink, new technology or some wierd unicorn magic? Whatever happen we need a fix please.

@DEVS please just let us know what we can do to help fix this. I know that a lot of effort is going into server optimisation and that is absolutely wonderful, but we are willing to help test out any new solutions. Just ask.

This is just so frustrating right now...

All I´m trying to do is to make an AI drive from the north west part of the island to the Airport, but that moron can´t drive a single kilometer without wrecking the car. Every right turn is a disaster waiting to happen. I also discovered that the AI likes to take cross coutry shortcuts even in cars and with aware status.

What just happened:

The AI drove into Galati from the south and should have turned east towards Athira.

It decided to ignore the first major crossroad and went into the second one.

When turning south to get on the road to Athira it crashed into the wall at the corner of the street and destroyed the car.

I consider a driving AI that can´t navigate more than 25% of roads on an official map to be utterly broken.

EDIT: Let´s not even mention what happens when here is another car parked somewhere on the road inside of towns...

EDIT2: The AI can´t drive through Selakano from north to southwest. They always ram into the garage at 2077 0667. I´m so disapointed right now..

This happened literally every mission in the win episode. Sometimes one guy, sometimes three or four.

I cycled through as many commands as I could and nothing seems to "unstick" them.

This has been a problem since OFP to varying degrees (including Iron Front). At one point does this get fixed or at least a good explanation given? Or even a work around?
