LondonLad 13 Posted July 18, 2013 (edited) Working here for me - Just using the internal zip program within Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64) here to open the zip file and run from within. orcinus 121 Posted July 18, 2013 Working here for me - Just using the internal zip program within Windows (Server) x64 here to open the zip file and run from within. Not working for me. I used 7zip (tested archive first, 7zip reported 'no errors'. Extracted, ran the .exe, agreed to the install, & got the "1% is not a win32 application" error. Tried again after using the XP built-in decompressor - same failure.
=wfl= sgt bilko 10 Posted July 18, 2013 (edited) Installed fine for me on win7-64 ! Downloaded zip yesterday, right-clicked and "Extract All ..." - then run exe from unzipped folder. Downloaded the zip again 5 minutes ago and repeated the above (removed the previous beta folder first), still installed fine. Dwarden 1125 Posted July 19, 2013 1. need to know what OS the fails happen on 2. are you on limited rights account? (non admin) 3. what game type you have ? OA, CO, RFT ? 4. what game distribution is it ? retail, steam, sprocket ?
OMAC 254 Posted July 19, 2013 (edited) Installed fine for me on win7-64 !Downloaded zip yesterday, right-clicked and "Extract All ..." - then run exe from unzipped folder. Same for me. Install ran normally (non-Steam). A2 CO (A2 retail download + OA retail DVD) + PMC (Sprocket) + BAF (Sprocket) + ACR (Sprocket). crs24 33 Posted July 19, 2013 (edited) I have the same problem with "%1 is not a valid win32 application" error. I download, extract with winrar, run it,click yes to install, extracts, then gives the error instead of asking for final confirmation to install. And to the questions: 1.Windows XP 64-bit 2.I am on an administrator account, the only account on the pc,running as admin and compatibility settings make no difference. 3.Arma 2 CO,A2 installed, then installed OA to make CO. 4.Retail DVD for both A2 and OA. I also downloaded the patch onto a separate computer that doesn't have Arma2 installed that's running Windows XP 32-bit, and the same error occurs in the same order. crs24 33 Posted July 19, 2013 I've installed every beta since 102936, and never had a problem before now. I redownloaded a couple of the previous ones to test, they run normally. The previous,106400, works normally and installed normally as well. This is the only beta I've had a installation problem with. Vipera 10 Posted July 19, 2013 Game is broken in MP with the latest beta (not sure from which beta exactly). I start MP by LAN, Utes map, War welcome scenario on my first computer. Then I join to this server from my second computer and start the game. The problem is that the player on the host computer cannot respawn after death. The player from joined computer can respawn fine. If I disable beta on both computers then everything works good.
Dwarden 1125 Posted July 19, 2013 any errors in arma2oa.rpt ... more likely it's related to the changes which now classify the undeclared variables also in spawn etc. ... breaks our own scripts and modules too , they need to be updated
RastaFF 10 Posted July 19, 2013 Unable to install beta patch Same error "%1 is not a valid win32 application" XP SP3 32-bit Default admin account A2 CO 106400, A2+OA+beta 106400 Both DVD retail My screenshots would be useless due non-english localization
orcinus 121 Posted July 19, 2013 My system: XP Pro 32 SP3 Using 7zip Admin account A2CO from ArmA X boxed DVD retail set, currently v1.62/1.11 Imageshack seems to be down so there's a screenshot on Flickr The error actually originates from 7zip, whatever is used to decompress the download. Sorry, have to do some work stuff right now. Later I'll try uninstalling 7zip & see what happens using only the Windoze built-in decompressor. Oh, and last beta I actually installed was 106400 having been hors de combat for a while. Never had problems installing with any beta before this.
crs24 33 Posted July 19, 2013 (edited) I use winrar,it always says 7-zip,which I don't have installed. The error I get is exactly the same as the picture posted shows.I think that's more in relation to how the application description says "7z setup SFX" than 7-zip the .zip extractor as a separate program. I've also tried the default extractor with winrar uninstalled,no difference. Edited July 19, 2013 by crs24
orcinus 121 Posted July 19, 2013 Ah, seems I was too terse. I meant that it's 7zip that reports an error rather than Windows, also did not mean there's any problem with the installed 7zip. The error indicates that there's a problem at the self-extraction stage in the unzipped executable.
Bebul 0 Posted July 19, 2013 Does the installation report the "%1 is not a valid win32 application" error before the patching started of somewhat during it? Can somebody with this issue try to: 1. unzip the *.zip file to get the exe 2. rename the exe to *.7z and unpack it to get three other exe files 3. run the patch exe itself Does the patch exe complain about "%1 is not a valid win32 application" too? (Only to eliminate the issue is inside 7z SFX?)
orcinus 121 Posted July 19, 2013 OK, just tried steps 1-3 with a freshly unzipped copy. Windows reports that "...ARMA2_OA_Build_107882.exe is not a valid Win32 application". Doesn't even try to start the install. With the primary-unzipped exe, I get first the "Open file - Security Warning" box; hit "Run" ; "Do you want to Install the [patch details]?" hit "yes"; Then I see the extract window - last figure it shows is "84%" before the error box comes up with the "1% is not a valid win32 application". crs24 33 Posted July 19, 2013 (edited) Out of curiosity, does everyone with this error have Windows XP? Both computers I tried it on have XP, both have errors.Im suspecting something is wrong with how XP runs it. Unmodified, after extracting from zip,I click it,runs, click yes to install, extracts fully(or so it appears)with 99% the last number, like it normally does with the others, then when the extracting window disappears, instead of popping up the final confirmation window about patching arma,it gives the error. After renaming the exe to 7z and extracting it,attempting to run the extracted patch exe simply gives a not valid win32 error,it does not even start. It appears the patch application is bugged somehow, which is why it can run the unmodified exe, then fails after extracting and attempting to run the patch.
