F.A.T.A. - Federally Administred Tribal Areas, Pakistán

First off, great map, really love the lay out with a great blend of elevation.

I'm having this recent issue upon starting the map (for Arma 3, the AIA compatible version but using A3MP). It was working fine until today (for unknown reason) with the error being "Cannot Open Object praa/praa_roads/roads/praa_dirt2_02000.p3d" and followed by "Cannot Open Object praa/praa_vegetation/praa_yuca.p3d". I've tried looking this up online to no avail.

With these two issues, the thing I notice immediately is that the base bottom left corner of the map is missing the HESCO walls, not sure if there are other things missing as I cannot recall.

Same problem as you Chucki92. I used the Ponds version (link is in first post) instead, it seems to solve it.

Is it normal that there is no water in river bed ?

The sing with the Water in the riverbed is the proof of the laziness of Bis :P ... because in VBS it works since VBS3. But Bis is way too cocky to ask BiSim for Help.

A3 is crying out for decent water implentation - ponds and streams, not just the sea. The thought of a beautiful map like FATA wih real running water brings tears to my eyes.

The strange thing is ... in Chernarus are some lakes on the map, so why the hell is for example Altis a desert...

I suspect that it is because is a drier climate.

I don't think that the absence of lakes is a limitation of the game engine.

Could potentially be due to a shader problem: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?158923-Podagorsk-problem&p=2547141&viewfull=1#post2547141

I've played A3MP maps with perfectly functioning ponds (eg Proving grounds), partially functioning ponds (Takistan), and completely glitchy ponds (FATA with ponds, Aliabad etc). There must be a solution in there somewhere...

Really awesome map. One of the best maps from community I ever played. In fact I hope that you'll bring us some updates or expands for this map or that you work on new project because I hate Altis.. There are so much options for scenarios and I really look forward to play some coop missions with my team on this map. Thank you. ;)

Coops not possible due to ai seeing through vegetation, still not patched.

Thanks for this awesome terrain. I haven't had the time to explore everything yet, but what I've seen so far is really great.

Hi guys. Once I got over the astounding visuals I noticed that the ambient sounds seem broken on both FATA and Afghan Village. Both maps are almost completely silent during the day, with loud wind noise only when near buildings. Looking at class EnvSounds in the config I see that many of the entries have the volume set at zero.

Is this a design decision or a bug? I've fiddled around the the config and eventually got the various ambient noises working again and it improves the ambience (surprise!) quite a lot.

I've encountered the same sound problem when editing these maps. Is there any way to fix it without unpacking the PBOs? Or is there any chance a fix was pushed out in the last 5 months that I just missed? Thanks in advance for any assistance, and thanks to the authors for these amazing maps!

How did you fix the sound? I tried, but lose the Map. I tried config.cpp and config.bin with A3 Tools. :confused:

Both make the Map not show up anymore. Whats the trick? Everyone raves about this one, wanted to give her a whirl.

The easy way is just to remove the sounds.pbo (at work so I can't remember its name sorry) and just click through the error messages when loading the game. This will just use the vanilla (or other sound mods such as JSRS) environment sounds.

The harder way is to remove the sounds.pbo and edit the config to remove the errors. I'm not sure if telling you how to do that contravenes the spirit of the release or the rules of the forum.

Tried but its still dead quiet. I have JSRS running as well. Removes the loud wind next to buildings though, which is good.

Anyone know why the Map disappears when you change the config? Am I using the A3 Tools wrong with .bin? Kooky.

Well, vegetation viewblock for the AI would be amazing. Could this be done with an external addon?

ACE Has a vegetation viewblock module.

You should be able to use that while making missions, and you can just unpbo and edit a mission to insert the module in there, you just place it anywhere and it (should) work.

There is a bit of a FPS decrease though, at least when I used it a year ago or so with my friends on COOP hosting on my computer.

Its not a view block module, it allows you to hide in grass, but it's up to grass if it can obscure you. This is a map bug, same in FATA, same in Sangin.

Sorry, should have mentioned that I use it in Arma 3. It seems like the author is busy, this is why I'm asking if it could be done with an external addon (without infringing on the author's rights). It's truly a magnificent map, and I would love would to play coop on it.

ACE viewblock module does block AI LOS however not all vegetation is configured correctly/supported by viewblock.. I'm assuming the grass in FATA/Sangin falls under this category.
