fkymplbo 5 Posted August 16, 2012 I dont see why they arent fully usable now? They sure are usable in the missions that come with the mod. No, I don't really mean they are not useful in current missisions. Just may be more interesting to 80s soviet troops. I'm glad they included these nice babies and give us more options of lots of scenarios. I like very much the fire anims of these IFVs. You could see the round shells flying up and scattering around. Really awesome anims and I never got such thrilling feeling from other mods or ArmaII original stuff.

stgn 39 Posted August 17, 2012 Thanks guys, looking at the picture from RHSs wiki of the T80A, the ERA layout seemed unusual to me. I see now that its a bit off. STGN
Corvinus 35 Posted August 17, 2012 Great mod, guys, but since you mentioned the transition of your units to Arma 3, I would like to ask a question: did you ever had a thought about making AFRF circa 2035 after you're done with modern troops? I mean, with "Boomerangs", "Armatas", new uniform, helmets with rails and all that jazz.
flv*venom* 83 Posted August 17, 2012 Just may be more interesting to 80s soviet troops. The following is just my understanding of what the RFAF mod is depicting (always remembering that this is ver 0.1!) first: This mod fits the ArmaII timeline just perfect as Harvest Red takes place in 2009, and for that period the units (from what I've read here) are realistic. Of course I use the vehicles in all of my 90s scenarios too! It's just that their use isn't limited to cold war scenarios (and believe me, I absolutely love the cold war :D) but the Gaz66 has markings clearly identifying it as a Russian vehicle f.e. second: Why green and BMP1s? well, the green sea region isn't exactly western Russia. So I doubt that moscow would have based a top category unit there. (see the ossetia war for example. Almost all vehicles I saw during the media coverage were solid green.) In fact, I'd love to see the most of the vehicles in the Russian faction getting a green reskin. Kamaz and Uaz and so on but that's a different story. I know that none of guys said that you didn't like what RHS released and I'd sooooooo much like to see all the new toys that the russians have, but these units here have a purpose too. Shadow NX 1 Posted August 17, 2012 Honestly? I doubt it but youll never know. So far this never was a topic in the team, there are still so many ideas for further upgrades fitting to the current timeframe of the mod so i dont think you will see much futuristic stuff soon. twisted 128 Posted August 17, 2012 the quality is as i said before amazing. One question, when it comes to assault rifles - are there any with scopes? i cant seem to find them in the ammo box or on your website documentation page. i've seen many cool RU scopes popping up, and was wondering if there were any here or planned for this amazing equalising mod.
Shadow NX 1 Posted August 17, 2012 No, at the moment there are noone but as mentioned before there will be some later, definatly a 1P29 as it is the standard rifle scope and a cobra too. Later more will surely come but for now i only know of these two being made.
fingolfin 1972 Posted August 17, 2012 To all complaining about the "out-of-date-gear": Take a look at these picture galleries to see that older vehicles like the T-80BV or BMP-1 are still used in many units of the Russian Army. Landing exercise in Kamchatka 2011/09/13 Training centre in the Vladimir region 6th Tank Brigade Landing exercise in the Khasansky district Airborne exercises in the Ryazan region Tactical manoeuvres on the Klerk peninsula Testing tanks on the coast As you can see most of the soldiers are wearing the new digital camo. So the pictures are not older than two years.
BasileyOne 10 Posted August 17, 2012 Green RULE ! :P every single guy and girl will know that in Russia with mother milk :-)

megazogg 14 Posted August 17, 2012 To all complaining about the "out-of-date-gear": Take a look at these picture galleries to see that older vehicles like the T-80BV or BMP-1 are still used in many units of the Russian Army. Also, if you actually read the texts, you may learn that: 1. Kamchatka Peninsula is a peninsula in the Russian Far East, literally - ass of the known world. So there are no first-echelon army units there. 2. That there were a military examination in training center in the Vladimir oblast there servicemen-contractors were passing the skill approval exams in IFV driving, sniper and communications training using training equipment (which in Russia means that they were issued with outdated equipment, decommissioned from active service. 3. That in 6th tank brigade some old variants T-80s are used for training only which is very convenient because they do not have to withdraw tanks from the battalions. According to the brigade’s conscripts, they hold military exercises using their military equipment and ammunition, including guided missiles, on a regular basis, but the brigade is not provided with bullet-proof vests and helmets yet (typical for Russian MoD). 4. That in Khasansky district crewmen already were issued with fire-proof vests, have a lot of BTR-80s & 2S9 Nonas. 5. That VDV troops in the Ryazan region uses something looks like BMD-3 during exercises. And so on... Sooo I don't really seen any T-62(64) or other really outdated tech on those photos. ;)
fingolfin 1972 Posted August 17, 2012 Sooo I don't really seen any T-62(64) or other really outdated tech on those photos. ;) What you see are T-80BVs, BMP-1/BMP-2s and BMD-2s. Just what RHS has released. My point was that they are still in use in the Russian Army. I never talked about T-62/T-64s anyway.
Yyhrs 3 Posted August 17, 2012 (edited) Even in 8/8/8 war no T-62 or Bmp-1 was use in front line. This old stuffs are used just for escort or training by RF. Don't take it bad, I more than happy with your release it's just I'm hungry for more stuff to do more senario now. megazogg 14 Posted August 17, 2012 So am I. Please, understand me correctly - I'm not bitching here about bmp1-2, bmd1-2 and t-80 are in .01 release. I just don't like then people begin to request soviet-era helmets & uniform for troops and MBTs from the 60s of XX century, saying that modern RuAF should use them in game there every Bluefor non-fiction faction have state of the art equipment. We already have Cold War themed mod.
fingolfin 1972 Posted August 17, 2012 I was referring to the people who said that the released vehicles in AFotRF are not usable in a modern scenario which is not true. Of course I would be happy to see more modern APCs and Tanks released by RHS too.
Shadow NX 1 Posted August 17, 2012 As i said this is mostly because for 0.1 we mostly used projects we had already released as standalone or were workign on since a while, some things like the GAZ-66 are actually as old as A2, the BTR-70 even older, first attempts at new soldiers were for A1 and so on. In the next versions there will be old but still used stuff, yes but also many relative new things, for example something to replace the aged BTR-70 and so on. AFRF will never be the newest equipment shown on exhibitions mod but it will be something in the middle. :) Besides for the more modern stuff BIS already added some nice things to use like the BTR-90s and such.
Stagler 39 Posted August 17, 2012 If you have a problem with our stuff that is too old, use the default BIS vehicles until we can add our own in later version.
Corvinus 35 Posted August 17, 2012 About all this "forces of first/second/whatever echelon" talk: I thought that this archaic system is gone after the implementation of the reform, so older stuff is being used for training only. Just checked the Doctrine and "echelons" are mentioned two times - for infrastructure and supplies. Honestly? I doubt it but youll never know. Ok, thanks for answer. bars91 956 Posted August 17, 2012 Well, outdated or not, BMP1\2 and BMD1\2 kicks all kind of ass and is done to the smallest detail. Also I'm more a fan of "pure military green". Seen tons of pictures circa 2009-2012 where technicals are green rather then camoed up. Also BMP1s were part of 58th in 888(since 58th army was kind of an outdated unit even by pre-reform AFRF standarts)
gatordev 219 Posted August 18, 2012 Enjoying your fantastic addition to the Arma world, but one quick question... Is there a way to disable the RHS menu and go back to vanilla? Wasn't sure if it was as simple as removing a .pbo like a couple of other addons.
NeuroFunker 11 Posted August 18, 2012 any chance, for new DLC, based on that awesome mod? ;)
W0lle 1051 Posted August 18, 2012 hi sorry that i dont read the last 20 pages but i would to report a problem when i start your mod and CWR rearmed together i have up 2 game menus thats a litte confusing so on great mod hope for some russian choppers and jets like su 27 :) Not really confusing, means just your mind is not ready for such advanced stuff. :) Simply remove/rename one of the two UI pbo's. In RHS it's the rhs_ui.pbo (iirc) and in CWR² it's the cwr2_ui.pbo. Both (or one of them) can be removed without any impact on the Mod.
