antoineflemming 14 Posted June 4, 2012 It just seems so empty, and the villages seem small and desolate.Arma II's map is amazing, this just seems... Meh. Is it possible to port Arma II's map, or maybe even TakeOn Helicopters' map to Arma III? Yes, you are the only one lol. Why do you think they are so desolate? I mean, the island is huge for one thing. Really huge. So, it may seem desolate. But, if I remember correctly, there are more villages and towns on Limnos than on any previous ArmA map. That was said at last years E3 I think.

maturin 12 Posted June 4, 2012 You haven't even seen more than a few kilometers of Limnos. But anyways, nothing could be more empty and desolate than Takistan, and there will be oodles of playermade maps, probably using all sorts of ArmA 2 assets.
Craig_VG 20 Posted June 4, 2012 Are you talking about stratis? Because yeah, the villages are small and desolate there, because the map is supposed to be like Utes, a place to test stuff. Limnos, from what I've seen at least, is going to have much larger towns/villages.
nodunit 397 Posted June 4, 2012 There will be plenty of small towns and a few large ones I'm sure. You have to remember that Arma 2's map is much smaller than Limnos, http://arma3.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/limnosvschern.png The road network is far thicker in certain regions, stating that there is civilization nearby (hence the need for traffic solutions). Now if you are referring to the videos then that is not Limno's, that is Stratis, it is to Arma III what Utes is to Arma 2. And even then..yeah http://arma3.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/stratisvsutes.png
james2464 177 Posted June 4, 2012 BIS can't create a 900km2 map of the amazon jungle... so with Limnos there are limitations, the map will be balanced. Computers just can't do it yet. It is what it is
instagoat 133 Posted June 4, 2012 I think this map will be one of the most alive and densely populated ones by object count, even without large forests. The largest settlements will probably be around the size of Zargabad... that´s only a rough estimate from what we´ve seen so far though. Maybe we´ll get detailed info at E3. So, you´re probably not the only one. But on the whole, I think BI made a good pick with the setting.
nodunit 397 Posted June 4, 2012 Yeah, Chernarus kind of bugged me in that no matter where you go there are no remote area's like there were on OFP maps. Every where you tried to have an armored or air battle there was always a town around. Not against towns and cities at all, but you do need large, wide open spans of varied terrain to have more kinds of battles along with.
max power 21 Posted June 4, 2012 I don't think we have seen enough of it to make a judgment about how full it is. If anything, this is a criticism about the way they BI is presenting their WIP material. Perhaps you are right, maybe at this point, there is a lack of detail. In all likelihood, they may be either withholding the detail of the maps, or they are not finished yet. But, the stuff in the villages in the promo vids seemed pretty detailed to me, and the scrub in the wilderness areas seems to have some unprecidented clutter- at least from what I can tell. So basically I think you're missing something rather integral, and I figure we haven't seen the half of it.

CameronMcDonald 146 Posted June 4, 2012 Nah, there was at least some guy complaining about lack of forests, so you might have a partner in crime.
EricM 0 Posted June 4, 2012 Yes. Nothing beats Chernarus in my book (including Takistan, and TKOH maps). Limnos clearly lacks forests in that respect, but it still looks pretty. Hopefully we'll have it ported to A3. It's already looking promising in Take one : rearmed.
sith1144 10 Posted June 4, 2012 If we're going back to chernarus, I want all of it, not just south zagoria (remember that the part of chernarus we have played in so far is only a part of it)
Maio 293 Posted June 4, 2012 (edited) What Limnos lacks in forests it compensates with bushes, rock formations, deserts and lake's :) Edited June 4, 2012 by Maio
Gradient 10 Posted June 4, 2012 i like that mediteranian style! but i love that IF poland and ukraine maps! i had a really nice performance even on laptop and the colorfull setting is really enjoyable. i hope A3 gets also more colorfull than A2. btw i guess IF is much underrated but this is another story :-)

Is it possible to port Arma II's map, or maybe even TakeOn Helicopters' map to Arma III? My answer to you: pt9W09dnYNQ NA! ;) The coastline of Limnos is just amazing for underwater spec ops. metalcraze 290 Posted June 4, 2012 Arma II's map is amazing, this just seems... Meh. Is it possible to port Arma II's map, or maybe even TakeOn Helicopters' map to Arma III? When I asked about Chernarus being allowed to be ported into ArmA3 in 2011 the reply was "if someone will have what it takes to finish the job". When I asked the same question this year it was "no comment" :/
mrcash2009 0 Posted June 4, 2012 Arma II's map is amazing, this just seems... Meh. Play Arma2 then is my answer :) No doubt map makers will slowly drop some forest based maps into the mix after release.

Dingo8 1 Posted June 4, 2012 What Limnos lacks in forests in compensates with bushes, rock formations, deserts and lake's :) Forests are overrated FPS-limiters anyway. ;)
k0rpen 1 Posted June 4, 2012 Chernarus was just forests so to fill the empty areas. Very annoying map and uncreative.
NoRailgunner 0 Posted June 4, 2012 Chernarus was accurately recreated from geographical data of real landscape and so will be Limnos - just a bit more performance friendly at release.
