Colossus

Japanese Self-Defence Force DLC might be in the making.

Recommended Posts

Japan DLC would be very great! :) I have always been Japan fan (after living in Tokyo mostly my first 4-5 years).

Possibly relevant is a May 19 article on the Gamespot website that says BIS will be releasing new A2 DLC in June:

He doesn't say they'll be releasing a new DLC in June though. Read the sentence again, he is talking about another expansion like OA :)

http://uk.gamespot.com/news/arma-3-armed-for-summer-2012-6314587

So if they got that from BIS, we likely won't have to wait too long to find out.

Sorry to bash in, but the article is from 2011... Probably talking about BAF/PMC?

Still, I have high hopes of seeing something for Arma2 this June. Heck, it might even be part of the 1.61 patch, just like Eagle Wing bonus content (BTW, on a related note, Rocket over there in DayZ forums said he will be releasing his mod's v1.7 fully once the v1.61 Arma2OA patch is official - and he did release DayZ v1.7 on a limited basis, which could be a hint the 1.61 is just around a corner...). Or a full DLC, be it Czech units, Japanese units or Inuit units, I don't care, I will get it :)

Wasn't TOH announced on April 1st too?

If this is real maybe BI were just using the date to fuck with our heads.

In case it's really about JSDF:

April 1st, 2011: Take on Zombies (FALSE) and Take on Helicopters (TRUE)

April 1st, 2012: Aliens in Arma3 ("Probably" FALSE*) and JSDF DLC (???)

A pattern emeging? :)

*I say "probably" because, you know, we don't have JSDF confirmed yet, it could be an easter egg in the final product and, we all know, BIS likes elaborate pranks.

WAIT, why the emphasin on FOG OF WAR? This really intrigues me...

Ok, each picture has three labels (is this the right word?), but the FOG OF WAR is in the exactly same place in all three. The right mark appears in two different places, and the upper-left mark in three different places.

Well, maybe I'm looking too much at it.

"Fog of War" is a military term to describe uncertainty of important strategic information due to varying circumstances which can lead to false conclusions regarding enemy forces and their capabilities, origin etc.

Looks like the FO recon team is a victim of heavy FOW ;)

But luckily we still have a mission control center with specialists

That's right. And it fits perfectly into what colossus discovered. I don't think it's an anagram.

There are reconnaissance photos of some units you can hardly see but still they are marked with names. These names are apparantly false, which is caused by the FOW, so their real origin is unknown. Colossus found out that they are in fact czech units which leads to the concusion the DLC is real (the new units are there) but the "JSDF" content is most likely the joke/caused by the FOG OF WAR.

Still, the position of the marks looks very suspicious.

If each picture was to form a letter, it would read lvl (lul?). And that would definitively be funny :)

Oh well you never know what they are up to :D It's certainly worth some investigation! ;)

Let me see if I can find something.

*turns on brain*

BINGO!

I checked the photos metadatas and there are very interesting things buried:

The first picture contains multiple layers made in photoshop.

The first text layer is

  • Fog of war
  • Isuzu Type 73
  • Komatsu Type 96

But then there is a second text layer which is

  • Visibility clear
  • Tatra 810
  • Pandur II

The second picture contains two text layers as well.

First one is

  • Fog of war
  • Kawasaki T-4
  • pilot Ichiro Ito

Second layer

  • Visibility clear
  • L159 Alca
  • pilot Pavel Houska
  • pilot FrantiÅ¡ek Bolfík

Same goes with the third picture.

First layer

  • Fog of war
  • Komatsu LAV
  • Howa Type 89

Second layer:

  • Dingo
  • CZ 805 BREN
  • pilot FrantiÅ¡ek Bolfík

There we have it!

To sum it up: New content in these few pictures:

  • Tatra 810
  • Pandur II
  • L159 Alca
  • Dingo
  • CZ 805 BREN

I like that! :)

So, we got 6 different positions, in 3 "moments" (the order of the pictures). I'm trying to order the marks within the picture they belong (so there's only six possible orders in each picture), but of couse there must be an obvious ordering (alphabetical ordering doesn't bring nothing too perceptible at least).

~~~~~~
Bingo? What you discovered? >__<
~~~~~~

So yeah, it pretty much sums it all. Thanks!

I actually think its not one army, but 2, maybe we get both the JSDF and Czech forces in one big DLC/ 2 DLC's, hopefully they will release them on disk like reinforcements with a map.

Also I told you so that this wasnt an April fools.....

So the DLC must be ACR, my god ,it's true. Great trolling, BIS!

All i can say - IT IS Czech army DLC :D

but sadly it is badly timed :(

It's hard to say, ArmA3 haven't been guaranteed to be release this year, cause until now there is no release date announced.

How so Robert? They stretched the development time for the DLC for more then 1 year, so they must have taken some financial risk into consideration, considering we are talking about an ACR DLC which wouldn't be as appealing to the general customer as a US ARMY RANGERS& 10'th Mountain Div. DLC.

I'm gonna buy this puppy :)

So far all expansions/DLCs have come with some engine upgrades/enhancements. I wonder if it will be the same this time. :D

As the ArmA3 dev blogs have mentioned something about addon compatibility/easy conversion, maybe it'd be compatible with ArmA3 right off the bat?

I hope it will be ACR DLC. If yes, I'm realy looking forward to use new vehicles and of course CZ 805 Bren (I hope it will be there :rolleyes: ).
