konyo 14 Posted October 24, 2012 Konyo from what I know I am not colorblind but the Nightstalkers don't actually have a matt black color finish? Its not really matt, because the suns reflection wasn't on it in those pictures. Look at the UH in front of the MH, that looks Matt too.
Wiki 1558 Posted October 24, 2012 don't remember if you said whether we could lift and transort a boat under the chopper or not, and if yes, how would we do it?
nodunit 397 Posted October 24, 2012 (edited) Its always been a light brownish colour since its had Sand weathering on it etc? Kind of sort of but not really, the sand builds up but it doesn't change the color, washing the sand off might however that makes the paint job more greyish and reflective in spots. just check out these kiowa's for example just check out this kiowa that got sanded http://media.defenseindustrydaily.com/images/AIR_OH-58Ds_Kirkuk_Iraq_lg.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/9a/OH-58D_2.jpg/741px-OH-58D_2.jpg which is supposed to be an olive drab http://usarmy.vo.llnwd.net/e2/-images/2010/10/20/89273/size0-army.mil-89273-2010-10-20-171043.jpg Camera and sun setting also effect the color greatly http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/6822/mh47echinook160thsoar.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9e/Defense.gov_News_Photo_120320-A-JF456-076_-_A_U.S._Navy_SEAL_with_Naval_Special_Warfare_Group_1_fast_ropes_from_an_Army_MH-47_Chinook_helicopter_onto_the_aft_deck_of_the_fast_combat_support.jpg again here it's more about the sun that the paint, since normal daylight would look more like this http://i38.tinypic.com/nl4ydz.jpg But the lighting in OA mimics this very well, the sun set gives a reddish orange-y brown hue when rising and setting, and if you made the scheme grey as above, it would appear that way on a clear day, but change the weather to overcast and you'd actually get this http://www.patsyconstruction.com/sm/images/products/MH-47E%20conversion.jpg Edited October 24, 2012 by NodUnit
konyo 14 Posted October 24, 2012 don't remember if you said whether we could lift and transort a boat under the chopper or not, and if yes, how would we do it? Yes you can transport a boat by slingloading it (Only with RHIB's). Basically you hover over the boat you want to slingload and below a certain speed & heigh you get an option to 'Extend Cargo Ropes'. Now if your on multiplayer you can use the Loadmaster who's looking through the hatch to help you, by him saying left or right etc. If your on singleplayer though you have to line it up yourself. Once lined up you will then get an option to 'Attach Cargo'. & Thats it, then fly to where you want to drop it and press 'De-attach Cargo'. :D Kind of sort of but not really, the sand builds up but it doesn't change the color, washing the sand off might however that makes the paint job more greyish and reflective in spots. just check out these kiowa's for example just check out this kiowa that got sanded http://media.defenseindustrydaily.com/images/AIR_OH-58Ds_Kirkuk_Iraq_lg.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/9a/OH-58D_2.jpg/741px-OH-58D_2.jpg which is supposed to be an olive drab http://usarmy.vo.llnwd.net/e2/-images/2010/10/20/89273/size0-army.mil-89273-2010-10-20-171043.jpg Camera and sun setting also effect the color greatly http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/6822/mh47echinook160thsoar.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9e/Defense.gov_News_Photo_120320-A-JF456-076_-_A_U.S._Navy_SEAL_with_Naval_Special_Warfare_Group_1_fast_ropes_from_an_Army_MH-47_Chinook_helicopter_onto_the_aft_deck_of_the_fast_combat_support.jpg again here it's more about the sun that the paint, since normal daylight would look more like this http://i38.tinypic.com/nl4ydz.jpg But the lighting in OA mimics this very well, the sun set gives a reddish orange-y brown hue when rising and setting, and if you made the scheme grey as above, it would appear that way on a clear day, but change the weather to overcast and you'd actually get this http://www.patsyconstruction.com/sm/images/products/MH-47E%20conversion.jpg Yes i see what you mean with that, however I'm not good with texturing so i wont be able to get it that colour :( That's why VXR helped weather it etc.

gatordev 219 Posted October 25, 2012 [troll]Operation Red Wings*; and they all died, where as only three were killed in the MOH crash.[/troll] Classy. Complete with "troll" tags. One of the guys onboard that Chinook during Operation Red Wing I went to school with and was in the back of my helo about a year prior. We were too busy to chit chat, something I regret to this day. You'll forgive me for being a little sensitive to his sacrifice.

I apologize, I've read Luttrell's book, seen the videos, and I know what they all went through in those 2-3 days of hell. I pay homage to them where ever I can. They're true heroes in my book and I apologize again for my offence.

R0adki11 3949 Posted October 25, 2012 Just saying, I/we didn't mean to darken the mood of this thread. Sorry guys. Perhaps next time think more before you type such things, it wasn't very appropriate. Now back on topic, Konyo is your MH-47E going to include hidden selections, i would love to create fictional camo schemes for it. Perhaps a Nogovan or RACS scheme :)

singleton 22 Posted October 25, 2012 Is this going to be fully ACE compatible? I see you have your own slingload script. Will this be compatible with ACE Slingload also?
konyo 14 Posted October 25, 2012 Is this going to be fully ACE compatible? I see you have your own slingload script. Will this be compatible with ACE Slingload also? It's been written into the config, but hasn't been tested as I'm not an ACE fan. Will test it on tuesday with a few people online & let you know.
singleton 22 Posted October 25, 2012 Ah jeez, I am on my knees begging you to do your due diligence and make it completely ACE compatible. Youd be griefing alot of players who wish to play things a bit more 'sim-like' who cant have your awesome mod on their server because its not ACE Compat. Ill try my best :p You can still have fun flying it without ACE though. I personally dont see the point in ACE as i find it too "tacky" & dont see why its so hyped up for addons that are released. Sorry to the author or anyone who made ACE is reading this.. but thats what i think. Sorry!
singleton 22 Posted October 25, 2012 Yes I can fly it without ACE, but for those in a 30+ community which revolves around ACE, its a necessity that it comes ready to play with it. It is YOUR mod afterall and you can do what you want with it, but I would figure you would want the *maximum* amount of people able to utilize it from the start ya know? Vanilla ArmA is just sub-par as far as gaming standards. For a 'military simulation' its simply not enough as vanilla.

I would much rather prefer this have SOME ace compatability than none.

Well at the end of the day, its alot easier to make an addon first, then add in ACE compatibility after especially as making anything for Arma2 is alot more complicated than it was when previous making addons for OFP. Im sure Konyo will release a well polished addon, if the guys of ACE want it to work properly then perhaps they should offer to help in making it work with ACE. raptor 6 actual 13 Posted October 25, 2012 Well said R0adki11. @Konyo- everyday when I sign in, I love seeing more posts regarding the progress on the helo. I wasn't a big fan of the Chinook as compared to the CH-46, but you have definitely made me think about playing with this bird, simply due to all of the work you and a handfull of people have put into it. konyo 14 Posted October 26, 2012 Konyo did you play warfighter? How did you find it? 1st time playing it today & I'm impressed with it so far, the graphics is brilliant as always, glad i got it for PC & not PS3. The story is really good and gripping so far.. Carry's on from the previous one, However mine keeps crashing after every mission so i think I'm missing cutscences as its not making sense to why you suddenly change missions, or maybe thats how it should be. I dont know.
