Hello, I'm quite new to Arma II, and i appreciate the immense job that modders do to add incredible content to this amazing game.

But when it comes to problems, i'm an specialist :P

When I'm in the Editor and i place a MagicBox, it does not appear in the game later on.

All other ammo boxes appear in the game, only MagicBox doesn't.

Is there a way to solve it?

Thanks!

Quoting myself, still no solution :(

Srsly? All you need to do

1. look at mortar table, pick your basic elevation

2. Calculate difference between basic elevation and elevation for you target distance. ((basic table elevation - (elevation at basic distance +100meters))/100)*(basic table distance - real target distance))

3. Calculate elevation change coused by height difference. ((table elevation change per 100m height)/100)*(height difference)

Sum all and you are done, not that hard.

degrees to mils convert = degrees*6400/360 - so hard..

I didn't say it was hard. I use the mortars all the time effectively.

I'm just saying that IRL they use the MBC, meaning that fire missions would come out at a much faster rate.

No need to be a dick.

Any reason there hasn't been a Friday update in 2 weeks?

Seems strange, as it's been clockwork for quite some time.

Hey guys

An error message is returned when trying to slingload vehicles (an HMVV and a CH47).

Were allowed to attach sling to vehicle but when we attempt to attach sling to CH47 we get an error message and slingloading fails.

Any help would be great ???

I would reinstall ACE.

Hey, what mod is included for bullet dispersion in ACE?? The accuracy of the AI is unbelievable. All you have to do is fire once and the AI immediatly pinpoints you and kill you in the first burst of fire. Do you recommend any additional mod to sort of like complement ACE??

Sorry fot the gripe guys...

ACE increases the bullet dispersion of most weapons, but only effects mechanical accuracy, not AI shooting skill. Install ASR AI.

As for them spotting you, if you don't fire while they are looking at you, you should have a chance to duck behind cover. At range, they will lose track of you when you stop firing, and at very long ranges they won't ever see you at all.

Quick question.

Has T&E mode been permanently removed for the light mortars or will it make a reappearance in some shape or form in the future.

Having to use aiming posts to provide close range mortar fire is too cumbersome and time consuming atm.

Deploying the mortar on anything other than perfectly flat land also makes this difficult.

IMO T&E was perfect for the light mortars as it gave the mortars some complexity but with a little practice you could provide your squad some support in a short amount of time.

No, T&E is not going to be coming back most likely.

Aiming with aiming stakes and the sight unit is not hard, and very fast if you know the steps. Just because its not instantly intuitive does it mean its slow.

Really guys it isn´t that hard to use the mortar.

Stuff you need:

Map

GPS

MapTools

Compass

Range table

Set up the mortar. While you do that your officer can already measure distance and bearing to target.

Prep your rounds

Set the elevation according to the range table

Turn the mortar towards the target by using the compass.

Fire

A good team is able to do this in less than a minute.

Really - just simple search for M224 +handheld videos! You will see how quick the 60mm mortar can be deployed and fired without the need of maptools, aiming stakes, gps etc. Those man-portable light mortars aren't in the same league like the heavy mortars (which are usually deployed further away from the combat line).... ;)

I have a problem with the EagleWing single player mission on ACE. I am to the point where I am looking for the Russian officer codename Icarus who is about to flee the area in a helicopter. The problem is I only have 30mm no sidewinders left as they were all used on the frogfoots nailed 2 out of 3 of them. My instruments are also lightly damaged in the longbow, anyways there are at least 4-5 Tunguska sams, 3-5 APCs with heavy machine guns around his chopper and I have no way of destroying or even getting close to the area without getting shot down by Tunguska sams far away at the airport in VYbor. Even en route to this location is cars and other armor that shoot at you hiding in the town of pogorevka. I am flying 10 feet above tree line and ground even and still being detected and shot down. I think this mission is impossible running ACE as the AAA was probably shilkas and easier to sneak by in ARMA 2 w/o ACE. Anyone have any tips?

Not to do with the mission but...

-The Longbow should have selectable 30mm ammo AP and HE.

-The AH-64A Apache used mounted sidewinders the D Longbow now has wingtip mounted stingers in pods of 2.

-Also not sure if the Longbow has hydra rocket cluster munitions but did in the 90's, where you shoot the rocket over a target and bomblets come out of the rocket. They are called MPSM hydra rockets, they are shot over the target and thats when cluster munitions are released.

The HEI 30mm ammo of the Apache already has a shaped charge in it.

ACE makes no effort to be compatible with existing missions, and it should be easy to enable the mod later in the campaign should you choose.

The API 30mm Armor Piercing Incendiary uses DU (depleted uranium) maybe that's it is not used anymore?

I hope not, since we've sprayed it over every inch of Helmand and Fallujah

It is slightly more complicated that this if you actually want to hit a target. Also anything in the first charge range is simple but anything further out becomes much more difficult to put rounds on.

If you use the aiming sticks, it isn't much harder putting rounds on target at 2000m than it is at 100m.

Besides, if you want to use the easy compass way, it really shouldn't be possible to hit things if you actually start using charges, as you're trying to replicate the direct lay (hand held) way of firing mortars, in which you can't really use charges or fire very much as the barrel would quickly become to hot to hold.

The main problem with aiming sticks is finding the damn things in your optics for out-of-traverse fire missions, then correcting for parallax error. The basic employment of mortars isn't so hard, but expertise and practice is needed here. Aiming sticks also don't work on uneven terrain, which means you need a team at base.

Not really sure where to post this so here goes.

I can't get over 25fps with the ACE mod enabled, even on the lowest settings at 1280x1024; even though I can run vanilla ArmA with 40+ at the high setting.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this? I've played ACE before and I've never suffered such a hard hit on performance. Then again, the last time I tried to play ACE I was using my Nvidia 9600GT 512MB, whereas I'm now using a 7850 2GB OC@ 975MHz. I do have an old Q6600 running at 2.9GHz which I know won't be helping but, like I said, I can set vanilla to the high preset and still get 40+ fps avg.

There is your Problem.

ACE has some scripts running that need to be processed. If your CPU can´t handle that....

I've run ACE before with higher frames than this.

ACE has been optimizing like crazy in recent months, so maybe the problem is elsewhere.

I am running a QX6700, about a 5 year old quadcore... ACE runs fine for me, almost the same as vanilla...

Like Tonci said, the problem might come from your CPU... I had a xeon x3350 before and I was not able to run Arma + ACE on high settings. I recently change my mobo, cpu and ram and now it's fine.
