Arma 3: Confirmed features | info & discussion

Recommended Posts

They might know something we dont know.

well there have been no official statement on the exact date when the game will be released.

It's rather "Q1 release date" than realistic date. Game is still on alpha stage, even BIS developers want to know when ArmA III hit the shelves.

I have a question about movement animations and human model in Arma 3, i saw somewhere the motion capture article in BIS forum, so question is was it used ( motion capturing ) for Arma 3 purpose ?

And about the human models will be those models more "fleshy" just like real trained soldiers or just some 80 kilos spiders ?

And in addition the "damage model" on human bodies will be something like in Red Orchestra 2 ?

Yes Mocap has been used for ArmA 3.

No idea for the second question.

There will be a bleeding system, but that's about all we know about the new player damage system. There will be no dismemberment.

More specifically, Smookie did most of the mo-cap while Rocket (pre-DayZ) did about a third of the moves, according to Vespa's bistudio.com interview on animations.

According to InstaGoat, body armor and the helmet (and maybe eyewear) also affect damage taken if those are struck, while the Field Manual mentioned that hits to the extremities will already deal what in other games might be called "status debuffs", i.e. being unable to stand if sufficiently wounded in the legs or accuracy reduced if shot in the arms. I know that the term is right out of MMOs, but it fits -- this isn't COD/Battlefield 3/MOH where shooting someone in the legs simply means -10% or so damage (compared to a torso hit).

We have the same thing in ArmA 2. I was hoping for something similar to the limping system in VBS 2. That would be an immersion/gameplay bonus.

What the hell is a fleshy soldier?

Maybe one that don't appear to be a robot with flesh glued to it?

As long as the soldiers don't look like they're all on steroids - why not? :D

Why are you guys asking questions about the appearance of models when you can see them in screenshots and video..

Ye, they need to be definitely more fleshy, especially on thighs and arms though. Currently they look like after hunger-strike.

That's like asking for a ranking system for LEGOs. :p

ArmA isn't round based, competitive, ladder style game where "ranking" would matter. You have full access to anything your heart (and the mission designer) wants you to have from the start. There's no "unlocking" anything or any of that arcade stuff thankfully.

It certainly can be turned into one, but by default it's not, it's a sandbox you can do whatever you want with, so global ranks just don't make sense. Communities will probably come up with something like that and I guess keeping track of stats might be interesting, but a lot of stupid things can happen in the editor so please don't track that like DCS does! heh

Dr_feelgood, stick that list in the community wishlist threads instead please.

Pretty much what matters is that it can be "turned into one", but fortunately that is mission-specific so that no one is stuck with it if one doesn't want to participate... although depending on how Arma 3 "persistent mission" architecture is handled by BI if at all, we may see the capability to create "mission/mod-specific" rankings, something that might be usable for not just PVP matches but also for Arma 3 incarnations of the Life RPG mods/missions. ^This and..

Most of times even the existing "score system" makes people NOT focus on objective/s ..and adopting a "playstyle" that most of times negates team work and organized movement/tactics.

* Those last posts regarding this matter worked as a "reminder" for me-to shut-off this feature ("I" key) from our team servers permanently :j:

Do anyone know if ARMA 3 will support 6-core CPU`s please ?

It is unknown to what degree A3 will support more than 2/3 cores and or hyperthreading

LOL ?

So no chance to get 10km view and all maxed out settings without lag-fest ?

Raptor90 we honestly don't know if ArmA III will support more cores than two.

Everything else would be speculation. So no need to troll, like in the post above!

Well that's more than possible, in fact it happens all the time in the less optimized Arma 2.

However that's saying if you don't have anything else on the map, which then means that your ultimate settings might not mean much when you actually play.

Will the islanders still pay in euro's?
No, i think with stones and sticks.

Don't be silly... everybody knows that in the future, there will be only 1 universal currency conveniently titled "credits"... that or beer and soda can rings...
