Grey Wolf 0 Posted April 13, 2011 A while back a friend and I found a interesting glitch. Here was the results of the physics engine freaking out. Enjoy!
kireta21 13 Posted April 13, 2011 That's not glitch! You just discovered another "haunted house" from Animatrix :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4AfCH5AfQA I wonder why Agent Smith haven't shown yet?
rangerpl 13 Posted April 13, 2011 It's a beta feature, the next update to ARMA will feature space warfare (Strategic Defense Initiative, Almaz space stations, etc).
mrcash2009 0 Posted April 13, 2011 This is BI's homage to GTAIV Swingset :)
ArmAriffic 10 Posted April 13, 2011 thats how people go to heaven, god picks you up in his pimped out apc then destroys a building and drives into it
max power 21 Posted April 13, 2011 This video is old. This is not a fault of the physics engine, but an improperly configured custom addon. The physics engine is not the most complicated thing in the world but it's not that bad.
coopr 10 Posted April 13, 2011 When you would post that BUG on cit they will make it a feature request. Because the way physics work right now is totally realistic and desired effect. Especially the flipping over rocks took the devs al long time to implement. Don't think you would see that changed in a short while ;)
andersson 285 Posted April 13, 2011 Its very realistic. Numerous documented situations like that in the balkan war and desert storm. [/fanboy]
max power 21 Posted April 13, 2011 The rocks in Takistan are an acknowledged issue AFAIK. Legitimate criticisms of the physics engine are good but this is not one. The issues seen in the video are related to user content.
4 IN 1 0 Posted April 13, 2011 Guys, as an april fool joke, I think you all have been some 13 days too late.
Rough Knight 9 Posted April 14, 2011 That was the old destroyed Trampoline Factory, which explains why you where bouncing. thats not a glitch actually, it is one of the only exports from Cherarus, world class tramps : )
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted April 15, 2011 I thought the music was glitchy'er than the physics. Sounded like Amiga protracker tune with ST-01 and ST-02 :D (Sorry, couldn't resist :D)
MulleDK19 21 Posted April 15, 2011 The physics engine is not the most complicated thing in the world but it's not that bad. It's not even a real physics engine.
NeMeSiS 11 Posted April 15, 2011 It's not even a real physics engine. And what makes a physics engine a 'real' physics engine?
MulleDK19 21 Posted April 15, 2011 And what makes a physics engine a 'real' physics engine? One that does even just basic physics. Which the physics engine in BIS' games does not. It's just something that kinda looks like physics.
NeMeSiS 11 Posted April 15, 2011 One that does even just basic physics. Which the physics engine in BIS' games does not. It's just something that kinda looks like physics. Things in the air fall down, sounds like pretty decent basic behaviour. :p
celery 8 Posted April 15, 2011 One that does even just basic physics. Which the physics engine in BIS' games does not. It's just something that kinda looks like physics. Basic physics is picking up a skull in Ultima Underworld, throwing it and seeing how the skull sprite ricochets off walls and slides on the floor before stopping. froggyluv 2136 Posted April 15, 2011 Things in the air fall down, sounds like pretty decent basic behaviour. :p Unless that thing happens to be a dead body hanging rigid in midair with only his pinky toe touching a platform :p
NeMeSiS 11 Posted April 15, 2011 Unless that thing happens to be a dead body hanging rigid in midair with only his pinky toe touching a platform :p Pfffrt, i said 'in the air', someone holding on to the edge of a platform with only his toe clearly isnt in the air. :p
MulleDK19 21 Posted April 15, 2011 Things in the air fall down, sounds like pretty decent basic behaviour. :p Something that moves isn't physics. That's just movement. Sure stuff fall down, cars stay on the roads and helicopters stay in the air. But it's not real physics. Planes hitting the ground rotates in random ways, cars landing on 2 wheels will slowly (like a feather) land on all 4 wheels. A bus with no wheels touching the ground, will still move forward if the wheels are turning, as long as any part of the bus is touching something. The wheels are not moving the bus. The wheels are just turning with the bus' movement. Eg. if you make a script you put a car in the air, and give it an impulse forward, the wheels will turn as fast as the car is moving. http://www.arma2.treesoft.dk/videos/BadPhysics1.wmv No object in any of the games behave anything like they would in the real world. Defunkt 431 Posted April 15, 2011 LOL, did you witness the physics in OFP:DR? fHdU9v05wqU And it uses Havok, so much for real physics.

MulleDK19 21 Posted April 15, 2011 LOL, did you witness the physics in OFP:DR? fHdU9v05wqU And it uses Havok, so much for real physics. That's simply a bad implementation. There is always dragon rising or red river for you. Oh, yea, because Dragon Rising is a physics engine for ARMA 2. Retard...
