Arma 2's Great Physics Engine!

A while back a friend and I found a interesting glitch. Here was the results of the physics engine freaking out. Enjoy!

It's a beta feature, the next update to ARMA will feature space warfare (Strategic Defense Initiative, Almaz space stations, etc).

This video is old. This is not a fault of the physics engine, but an improperly configured custom addon. The physics engine is not the most complicated thing in the world but it's not that bad.

When you would post that BUG on cit they will make it a feature request. Because the way physics work right now is totally realistic and desired effect. Especially the flipping over rocks took the devs al long time to implement. Don't think you would see that changed in a short while ;)

The rocks in Takistan are an acknowledged issue AFAIK.

Legitimate criticisms of the physics engine are good but this is not one. The issues seen in the video are related to user content.

That was the old destroyed Trampoline Factory, which explains why you where bouncing.

thats not a glitch actually, it is one of the only exports from Cherarus, world class tramps : )

I thought the music was glitchy'er than the physics. Sounded like Amiga protracker tune with ST-01 and ST-02 :D (Sorry, couldn't resist :D)

The physics engine is not the most complicated thing in the world but it's not that bad.

It's not even a real physics engine.

One that does even just basic physics. Which the physics engine in BIS' games does not.

It's just something that kinda looks like physics.

Things in the air fall down, sounds like pretty decent basic behaviour. :p

Basic physics is picking up a skull in Ultima Underworld, throwing it and seeing how the skull sprite ricochets off walls and slides on the floor before stopping.

Pfffrt, i said 'in the air', someone holding on to the edge of a platform with only his toe clearly isnt in the air. :p

Something that moves isn't physics. That's just movement.

Sure stuff fall down, cars stay on the roads and helicopters stay in the air.

But it's not real physics. Planes hitting the ground rotates in random ways, cars landing on 2 wheels will slowly (like a feather) land on all 4 wheels. A bus with no wheels touching the ground, will still move forward if the wheels are turning, as long as any part of the bus is touching something. The wheels are not moving the bus. The wheels are just turning with the bus' movement. Eg. if you make a script you put a car in the air, and give it an impulse forward, the wheels will turn as fast as the car is moving.

No object in any of the games behave anything like they would in the real world.
