Nice, really nice. I like sky, it almost looks dangerously. Something is comming. TKOH :). Only 5 months to go, as MadDogX mentioned october, wow that is great and unexpected.

They call it teaser trailer, so possibly we get some real trailer. I'm eager to see some game mechanics, e.g. lifting.

How far BI are with game mechanic? Is it E3 build create only for flying?

added:

Rockpapershotgun mentioned:

The game uses the Arma 3 engine, and a fresh take on the dev’s helicopter handling and controls.

Journalist mistake, or how it is?

I see that I missed many things, maybe its all already answered, just now watching gamespot video. :)

It is definately the ArmA engine and the UI is exactly the same.

I just read this on the rockpapershotgun website

“It’s about commercial competition, and managing a helicopter firm in tough times.â€

I hope that does not translate to: “You have 1m30s to get the executive passenger across townâ€. Because races masked as completing passenger drop offs is not how real transport business is done!

I totally agree, please don't turn the transport mission into some sort of Crazy Taxi with helicopter. IMO there's nothing more annoying than restarting 10 times the same mission because you arrived just a few seconds late.

I don't know how will work the player progression during the campaign but please don't make "masked race" a standard.

Yeah. It isn't like the passanger will die if you'll arrive a minute later.

But overall Jay knows how to sell his game.

They may not be at that point in development. I am sure we will see more of that as the game progresses. 4th Q is still a ways out, and I wouldn't be surprised if that got pushed back.

I'm almost 100% certain that by "tough times," they mean struggling to stay in business during an unsatisfactory economic period, not actual time in seconds and minutes. I can see how that could be a confusing phrase if you didn't learn English in the States.

Gah, getting all emotional..I teared up, couldn't handle what would be seen of all three games and now I'm crying tears of joy from it all..eugh.. The Huey shows that there is attack helicopter capabilty...I wonder how much, a fire truck is visible so ground vehicles are possible, I wonder if it may be possible to extend this to into the military aspect that FSX cannot tread, while the base game takes care of the civilian (and I'm sure the community will donate to that as well)

Great point, well made. Currently, we're working on animations associated with the external areas of the chopper. Skid animations are part of this plan, including spread transitions and damage-state models.

The first thing we're looking at is damage, trying to properly detect and configure hard landings. Part of this process are the visual references, which also contribute to our planned pre-flight check and take-off gameplay.

Getting a sense of the chopper being 'light on its skids' can be fed-back to the player in a number ways, and we do consider the visual aspect of this to be important. We'll certainly see about including any progress in our future video updates.

Best,

RiE

With the walk around will oil checks/hydralics etc be possible?

Hmm, an interactive sobriety test for Take On?

Stop Everything. Priority one.

As for leaks, some degree of gameplay is currently planned, ideally integrated with our pre-flight checks; furthermore, we're endeavouring to design the systems in such a way that the community can potentially add more specialist features.

Best,

RiE

From Dwarden facebook, twitter:

Always asked question about how may look Take on Helicopters view over Takistan ?

Here is the answer:

20 Kilometers ViewDistance == Object DrawDistance, taken on 4 KM altitude.

Stay tuned for more news ...

Great! Does it mean that Arma2 world easy transfer to TOH (or TKOH :p) is confirmed? What about Chernarus, what does it look like? Dwarden should make another test. :) What was your fps? Max 1fps I think.

What? Take On Helicopters - Community Preview (Downloadable)

When? Target Launch is 23.06.11; periodic automatic updates thereafter

Who? Owners of Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead

How? Download from our website (section currently offline)

Comunity preview(beta) looks promising, new approach for BI. I can dream that we will get Arma3 beta in winter (only for TKOH owner ;)).

The Community Preview is only designed for compatibility with the Arrowhead terrains (I did try Chernarus, but to no avail). Frames weren't too bad, actually. Above 10.

We've opened up the other sub-category on the forums, so feel free to discuss anything about the com-prev there, and be sure to leave lots and lots of useful, proofread, well-adjusted feedback when you get your grubby hands on our delicate new flight model. ;)
