=wfl= sgt bilko 10 Posted August 9, 2010 (edited) First try rendered a complete freeze of system. Dirty system shutdown (kill the power). Second try, all benchmarks run fine. Average FPS up by 5% which is a positive surprise. I did change ingame video setting (TexDet) and back again to force config save for second try - however it might not have had anything to do with it. No real play tests so can't say anything about that. Edited August 9, 2010 by =WFL= Sgt Bilko
Twisted1 0 Posted August 10, 2010 This may be a stupid question but seen I have OA with last (Working) beta I assume I dont need this patch to play Arma2 MP. Or do I ??????

lwlooz 0 Posted August 10, 2010 Hey Suma & BIS team, thank you for the beta. Haven't got the time to get OA and I am also a bit wary to get an expansion just to find out how the new features work, find all the bugs and then not play it at all, because the AI still can't be properly controlled (or so I was told). So I am thankful for being maybe able to take a glimpse at it if the AI is roughly the same. That would be also my feedback for this beta , although I admit I did not give it all that much time. As fun as the cover finding and buddy system is , disobedient AI simply isn't on. Whatever miraculous things the AI can perform , there needs to be a system gameplay-wise that the player can say: "Stop that nonsense immediatly and do this/move there". There always pop up solutions for this problem even on this forum now and then ("Haul-Ass" command for example) , but really any system that gives control back to the player in those situations is fine. Currently my personal idea is to introduce a new behaviour mode called "Cautious" replacing the current "Combat". Therefore: Cautious: Search Max.Cover , Medium Avoidance of direct enemy contact , High use of suppressive fire Combat: Some Cover Search , Low Avoidance of direct enemy contact , Low use of supressive fire, Listen to player commands immediatly Basically Combat would be like for Assaults and for times when you need Quick Action like in most dangerous combat situations and Cautious when you want to keep casualties down, take things slow if there is lots of cover avaible. Obviously Combat would the be choice for players. I think "5" is even free in the interface. But as I said , as long one can control AI , super! . Until the next beta. NoRailgunner 0 Posted August 10, 2010 I would suggest to make a simple additional command option were the AI will follow the orders by players much faster and disengage/"forget" contacts/targets - at least for x seconds/minutes. It is still strange + annoying that AI can't break from contacts and for example move quickly to another position or get in vehicles.
todayskiller 10 Posted August 10, 2010 Agreed...I was playing the Arma 2 Campaign yesterday...I was in a forest, and we were clearly outnumbered, So I told my guys to move oh idk 200 meters behind us so we could have cover. I ran back there, and noticed they were still shooting at the enemy...So, I put them on hold fire and disengage. And yet they still stood there until about 2-3 minutes later I was like wtf lol. This Fix would be much appreciated :)

Alwarren 2767 Posted August 10, 2010 Just to be sure about this: I have Arma 2 and Arrowhead installed, so technically speaking I have CO. Can I install this patch, run the ArmA 2 only binary, and not mess up my OA/CO install? Thanks :)

ast65 10 Posted August 10, 2010 Wtf... when installing beta patch it gives me: ArmA2 version 1.07 required, yours is 1.05! but it is 1.07, can play on servers fine. I even reapplied patch 1.05-1.07 (saying to me updating from 1.07-1.07!), still can´t install beta (it insists I´m running 1.05). Any known solution for this?
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted August 10, 2010 It's for Arma2 users, those with OA/CO already have these fixes.
ast65 10 Posted August 10, 2010 Yeah, since I´m running OA/CO most of the time it doesn´t bugger me that much, but if I want to run ArmA2 exe only I won´t be able to profit from the beta improvements. Anyway, this has something to do with the patch recognition system, it´s fucked up for ArmA2 since I installed OA (which is patching fine); you can see this too when connecting with ArmA2 standalone to internet and it says "patch 1.07 is bla bla available". Strange thing is, though that when applying the official patch it identifies the installation correctly as 1.07.
