Will ALiVE create missions such like MSO side missions? and Is it possible to adjust numbers of mechanized infantry or something like that?

This truly is an awe inspiring concept and one I can certainly say I am looking forward to use. With Ai being a fascination of mine, I cant wait to try analyse and to understand this projects inner workings. (Something I shall probably fail in). I shall be keenly checking for any news and any info that will satisfy my craving in an attempt to make the wait more bearable.

Many thanks for not only offering your work to the community (which is fantastic in itself) but also taking the time to make it accessible and easy to use for us mere mortals. Thanks

Catching up on the Q&A:

Access to Test Version (Josan) - We will not be extending the closed testing to any other groups at this stage. However, we will be releasing a public alpha for you all to test in due course. We are following the well-known release schedule used by all addon makers in the community, and will release it "when it's ready" which will be "soonâ„¢". We have one or two final bits to do before we can safely let our creature into the wild :)

Side Missions / "Patrol Ops-like" Tasks (insan115 and others): Yes, we will be including an optional Player Task Generator for those who want more directed content within the ALiVE sandbox. This is in early stages of development but the intent is for OPCOM to provide relevant but specialist tasks for the player that will enhance the overall war effort, rather than just random side missions.

Headless Client (Numrollen and others): Server performance with Profiled Virtual AI is already sufficient, so there's been no driver to use HC yet. However, we will provide an option in Profile System to spawn on HC.

Dwarden - will do. As a general guide, we've had 12+ players with a full Altis map of up to 4k Virtual AI, and around 150 'Visual' AI at various places on the map where players were in range (1500m). Server FPS at its lowest point was around 35.

General performance concerns: Profiling or not, there is clearly a limit to what servers can handle with 'Visual' AI - lots of players in lots of locations across the map spawning lots of AI into the Visual World will of course have an impact and BIS is the only one that can do anything about that. However, note that ALiVE Placement (the system that analyses maps for objectives and automatically places AI groups) is completely customisable - for example, you can limit it to only a Platoon strength group and set a small Tactical Area of Responsibility (TAOR). Then place one for the other faction and watch them fight it out. Synch a Logistics module with unlimited supplies too if you want a perpetual micro battle. This would take about 5 mins in the editor ;)

Thanks for your replies and maybe someone watched the show, Thanks for that! Had to quit now as i have to code and fix some stuff!

Krem, yeah.... LOL, this happens when you let teammates choose your callsign....!

For those who watched, you can see how it performs :)

This was hosted on my local untweaked dedi, with default settings limited to one 3.2 ghz core, with a regular UPC upload bandwith, plus xSplit running and streaming.

- David, yeah we are on that, im curious about that too! Expecting to tweak stuff more with the results, for hardcore long term sessions. 4 days was our longest server session until now, with about 12 ppl at peak times.

- HC support --> for sure, will be in the first release!

For now, i need to code!

Kremator we are planning on doing a streaming-event at some point where multiple streamers will be on around the same time to stream live. This will be posted say a week before hand. Join our Facebook Page to get real-time notifications: https://www.facebook.com/pages/ALIVE-Advanced-Light-Infantry-Virtual-Environment/547638945305077. Once you "Like" the page, mouse-over it and click "Get Notifications" - then "Settings", "All Notifications". On the page under "Notes" you will find a list of our streamers - if you have a Twitch.tv account you can follow them and get notification-emails on when they are streaming - or when they go live. :)

We have a mixture of streamers around the world - there are a number in your timezone. :D

Just wanted to show the military placement module working on some of the Arma 2 maps, for everyone asking about ALiVE working on maps other than Alits / Stratis:

And a note about maps, we need to produce static indexes of existing maps to work with ALiVE, but we will have all your old favourites done for our release :) Will be moving on to user made made islands shortly!

This would be perfect. For regular nights the players can fight in the war while doing focussed objectives that actually contribute something to the overall scenario.

Just like other units in the profiler, can groups of players be given tasks?

I tried something similar on Chernarus with 3 HCs (don't ask), but new AI generation halted after I hit the group limit. But seeing this makes me happy. Very happy! :)

this is good to hear, have you played with the SVN recently <wink-wink>

ALiVE is breaking the bar and making a new one, a lot higher than the rest IMO.
