    VCOM AI Driving Mod

well the effort was worth it lol. nice video. also didn't realise how broken vanilla AI is in that regard. so basically the idea is you make the driver think about can openers so hard that it numbs his intinct to sadistically kill them one by one?

    Faces of War [WW2]

now looking at it again i'm actually not sure if the normals are really well baked and ported or if it's just really high poly lol. the gloss shows the smooth edges well for demonstration purposes though

    Faces of War [WW2]

that stg44 is just wow. rarely do such good models and their maps and materials survive the port to arma this well. maybe the pictures are fooling me but man. i need that! everything else looks awesome too.

    Ghost Recon - Wild Lands

definately set difficulty to extreme and go to that area that has full skull scale (i know right?) of difficulty. it's the more west one. that mortar base mission i actually pretty hard. atleast with two people. you will die a lot. almost a little like hitman. but yea. overall i agree. most of it will be shallow and undynamic. i wish it was only those kind of bases with that difficulties and supply convoys between them. enemies feel to spawned in.

    Tanoa Trains

i'm going to force revolve so many missions around those trains man. i was thinking since you showed some interaction with cars in one of the videos. how would the train react to a bridge disappearing underneath it? i'm thinking since most, if not all, bridges can't be destroyed, they will require some hideobject hacks and stuff to blow them up. would this require care from your side, as in checking, if a rail segment is hidden, or would you think it would already react properly as is? i'm thinking not since you keep them in place via scripting and not collision. i dunno. just a thought i had.

    Ghost Recon - Wild Lands

guys. open beta. don't miss it. all you need is uplay. download that and you are ready to download the game. game will be in your list. they added a much higher difficulty and the province they added is much harder. that makes much more enjoyable, for me at least. AI spot and engage way further. probably still won't get it before it's half the price but i think people interested should definately check it out in this state. feels different from closed beta, IF you use the slightly new HUD options and set difficulty on the highest. maybe arma's terminator aimbot AI "ruined" me but i really needed all that to enjoy it at all. also wanted to balance out my hate post a little

    [WIP] No Cure

i like that UI stuff you are doing man. scroll menu is the devil man. great to see melee too. small suggestion though. make that swing sound way more quiet so it's more of a subtle complimentary thing. otherwise it sounds too much like an old kungfu movie lol. unless you want just that. nothing wrong with that of course.
  8. wow. as unexpected as it is awesome!

    Lost the ArmA 3 hype

to be fair on AI though. yes it has not been expanded. BUT, they finally fixed a lot of the issues and not it atleast works as intended for the most part. i have horrible memories from arma 2 coop with AI being totally useless. now they are atleast dangerous. so the devs who did that deserve some credit. but still totally agree it's the same old stuff just fixed up.

    Server monetization program

that's kind of what i said though. it's certainly a grey area. not 100% sure what you mean though. does not encrypting your files qualify as publishing source code to you? or are we talking commented github here? or are you advocating having the large part of the mission server side to hide it from people? because when you release an addon you are effectively releasing the source code. and modelers have the luxuery to binarize their models. that's another interesting but kind of different topic. code vs assets. copying parts or whole models is way more "pursecuted" in this community. it's a common phenomenon though. it's like how arts get seperated from design because design has function to it and is thus a mix between art and function which i guess makes it more of a product. it's weird and also interesting. but i don't' wanna side track too much. i think what you say is valid for the exact stuff you talked about to a degree but doesn't apply in the same way to addons imho. once released and never modified addons can be used by anyone. a server only has so many slots. it also restricts the way something is used. which i totally get from a game design point of view but it limits things for the user. i'd personally and especially as a player like to see a mission hosted as many times as possible, if i like it. the opposite has happened a lot where game modes i liked just disappeared because only one server hosted them. it can go both ways which goes back to the Alex Kozinski quote. but i guess if you see yourself more as an admin too, your bread and butter is having your server be the most visited and successful. i can totally understand it from a personal standpoint. is why i said just opening everything up can be destructive too because no one has to talk to each other anymore and creations become just things free to grab without any connection to the person who put all their blood, sweat and love into it. which is i think the main thing. it's not just products. it's projects of passion with emotional attachment. that should be respected to a healthy degree. and based on that the unwritten rules of this community have kind of naturally formed over time. so it makes sense to not want to touch a running system. atleast in my opinion. also worth noting that sharing with mostly strangers needs to be mutual. i've become careful with it. if you are too open people will take advantage. anyways. need to take a break from this thread. posts are getting longer each time lol

    Enhanced Movement

well this was bound to happen. fix one thing break another. story of my life. since the latest update seems to have broken Exile compatibility and since steam is updating my mod in the weirdest way which caused me to not notice eventhough i was testing on several exile servers with what the launcher said was the latest version, i'm afraid the spam is real. sorry foxhound DOWNLOAD---> https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5Y0VNgK9JXiNXV6VlU0d3FFWkU/view?usp=sharing (or just get it from steam) this update is irrelevant for any non Exile users. literally nothing has changed for you. so no rush. just making sure armaholic has the latest stuff.
  12. will most likely look choppy for others in MP though. it's too bad since attchto plus animations can be quite powerful.
  13. yea i had this issue in the early prototyping phase of enhanced movement. back then i used to attach teh unit to the object it climbed. looked real choppy in MP. i think the engine is updating the visuals of attached units less frequently for performance reasons or something. i'm wondering though why you attach stuff. can't this be achieved with normal get in animations?

STABLE UPDATE DOWNLOAD---> https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5Y0VNgK9JXieWN0bGdtWHMzTms/view?usp=sharing changelog - changed: initialisation moved from preinit to postinit to ensure player unit related settings (like stamnina) are applied after the player unit is created this can be mirrored (you'll do your thing anyways...just trying to prevent EM update spam on your sites lol) thx in advance foxhound and others!

    Lost the ArmA 3 hype

i have seen some recent videos doing coop. not sure if that particular mission supports it. what i like is that the guy also tweaked movement speeds and all kinds of other details. feeling like i'm stuck in the mud was also a reason i was put off by the game intially. we should make a PM thread and try to organise some coops so we don't have to spam this thread.

    Lost the ArmA 3 hype

i think i'll give it another shot too. turns out i even own the red river expansion. muste've gotten them on a sale. recently found out that there's mods to fix the horribly stylised lighting. and there's apparently some dynamic whole island missions and AI mods too. as superficial as it sounds but the main reasons i couldn't really get myself to play it so far, aside from getting i way out of its prime, was the weird colours. i hope there's some sound mods too. with normal and full color palette it's actually pretty beautiful i think this guy made both AI and lighing. not sure though. read the description for more info. i wish they would've skipped the name/brand stuff and kept working on it. looked like a real solid base for sequels.

    Zombies & Demons 5.0

@ryandombrowsky you are really good at making these dude. loving it! always liked how you use the arma 3 voices too. please enter this into the video contest. i have two votes left and i'd definately give this one of them. already gave one to a friend (also his video was awesome) but there is so many videos and many of them bad (no offense to anyone) that i jsut can't look through all of them. so this way my votes don't go to waste.

    Server monetization program

agree that encryption is bad too. for the following reasons: hinders learning process any encryption will be cracked (afaik has been so far) hurts the wrong people general anti cooperation move that not only people who are trying to fight their free assets being used to make money by others but also EVERYONE else will use just mirroring Taro's post kind of because i feel it's an important point since this whole money dicsussion is not only about money itself but the effects on an open community. i feel with everyone being frustrated with not getting credits. it's so damn easy to do and the only reason to not do it, aside from being careless and inconsiderate, is mostly trying to take the credit for work others have done. i have been a "victim" of this myself a lot. BUT, i always try to give people a second chance and lettign them know why exactly i feel it's important. i still feel it's something an open community has to suck up and go against in other ways (for example moderating) than locking down files. because then you are doing a similar thing. you know how there is this "share alike" license? i feel the same should apply to knowledge. now if you think all you ever did, you did entirely on your own, then mostly (if not always) you are wrong. i feel that even goes for anything in life. a key thing to advanced civilisation is recording/collecting of data. without that everyone starts at zero over and over and over and...without that there is no point to a community at all. so many things could be solved by simply asking. that's why i think, while open sharing is great, having everything open source is not the solution like some people suggested in the past when similar things were discussed (i think it was about blastcore, not sure), because it eliminates the social factor, which imho is very important. i feel all this goes deep into human nature. like open market vs communism. none of it works per say. it's the sweet spot inbetween that creates the magic. sorry for long post, just my personal thoughts on this. fully subjective.

Ephiphany: Project Orange may be Commander DLC

random question. was there ever an official Zeus mode that was TvT with each team haaving a zeus on their side (with limited resources of course)? i remember some zeus vs zeus but i can't remember, if there ever was one with a team of boots on the ground players on each side too. i imagine that being a lot of fun, if done right.

thx guys. update tonight on steam. the rest of you already has what they need. @Crielaard yes you are correct. this ensures not only that people can use mouse keys but also double strokes of keys. further more it takes care of double binding through the engine. i can't count how many times confused people told me they ejected vehicles when changing fire mode (F key was default for the interaction part of the mod) or used scroll actions when jumping (Space was default for jump/climb). it's overall a much cleaner and more future proof solution. if you need help setting up the keys refer to the short guide video in this thread or on the steam page. sorry for the confusion. but you seem to already totally get it and only to be looking for confirmation anyways.

    Enhanced Movement

do these likes mean that it works for you guys? was kind of looking for confirmation. seems like the stamina thing works fine now too. i think i was still messing with old saves. if all is good for the SP people, i'd like to officially update to finally get this off my shoulders.
  23. yea you can easily create your own config classes and have them have parameters you made up. works great. and then you can retrieve stuff ingame using the configfile command. i think he means you would gather the data via script ingame, save it to file (copytoclipboard for example) and then make it a config. i wonder if you can put that stuff into the mission configfile. never tried that. EDIT: hm. looks promising. https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/missionConfigFile i wonder if file size matters

or the arma/ofp modding community for that matter. worked just fine forever only fueled by pure will power lol. not even necessary to go outside the armaverse to find an example. it's fine, if people want to make money with mods. everyone has the right to have an opinion. it gets sketchy however when there is a personal interest involved and arguments don't hold up 2 seconds of examination. like when it comes to this topic, having been a member of this community forever, i kind of think the bigger picture is more improtant than the personal interest. i have well over 150 k subscribers on steam i think (haven't checked in a while) and at some point i was a little bitter that i only received donations from very few people who were almost all beta testers/friends or people i gave extensive individual support without the intention of getting anything back. but when i got frustrated about not even ever receiving a donation of 1 buck, thinking with that subscriber count it's all it takes to make something, i realised it's tainting what made me start this in the first place. me wanting that feature myself and just passion for the thing itself and conquering the challenge. sure i would love for people to be more grateful for ongoing updates and fixes. but you can't force them and that is good. that's not what a donation is. and if you get one it makes you appreciate it even more even if it's from a friend and not some entitled stranger. also, something cool for free is a beautiful thing. look at blender. projects like that make me believe in humanity. now i know i sound like a hippie. but maybe that's just because i am one lmao!
