Well it wasn't long after that we were allowed to wear black jungles. :)

Yeah, the black is a little too blue, otherwise nice job. Also I should have some info today for you.

You must have some trick for making that city run. Most people can barely handle Chernogorsk.

I think the trick is having very low poly objects spread like every 50 meters.

I mean, you can think the Chinook has as many polies as the whole western part of the town+stadium.

I even doubt that the map has as many objects as Chernarus got, and as Snake Man said, he is aiming for performance.

Obviously that's not the finished map. I'd assume when its done, there will be a much larger FPS hit when using this map.

Not sure if anyone posted these, but these are videos from the actual battle of Mogadishu:

The second video has the Target building, although it is low quality.

Hope this helps...

In my oppinnion big cities that you reconstruct are more fun to play with if you can play the game without major lag. Even tough the poly count is low, the quality of the building does not need to be low. You can make it look very good with a small amount of polys :)

Those people in the video are crazy.... Like I would just stand there and talk with my friends when you can hear gunfire everywhere. Nope, I would run until I could not run anymore.

Well the people on the first video would have been

stoned, so they would have been a bit desensitised,

plus there would have been enough people on their side

that they would not feel like running

I think that's more because they don't have the same feeling about death than we have. they don't really fear it. And I think after years and years of war, they're used to this kind of situation.

By the way, I'm suggestin the idea to make somethin like two maps. One with just small villages ((like Everon)) that would represents the "countyside" , yeah I know Everon is a bad example but I'm focusing on the main idea. And an other one that represents the cities "mogadiscio etc..."

thanks kiki for the edit on the helmet!

i know, i know, i think i overdid the dirt on some spots , and the waist strap or whatever is wayyy too light, but i haven't got to fix that yet. And yes - i'm aware of the arm holes :(

snake man and I have been working on the units for a while , and I really think they're starting to shape up!

This is absolutely true. BIS screwed up with chernogorsk, as the huge baghdad iraq city in arma 2 gets amazing fps compared to chernogorsk and looks very detailed for its size. Its all about the effort you put into it and custom buildings that dont have glitching problems/high poly count.

Search for yourself. There are several links on the forums and on Armaholic etc.

another little thing I noticed is you have the wrong chinstrap on the helmet of the rangers. little detail, I know, but it cant hurt pointing it out. it looks like you have the 4 point ACH style straps as where pasgts then used a simple 2 point olive green chinstrap.

Any updates on Mogadishu? The Baghdad map might be the biggest city I've seen in ARMA 2 but as for detail, it's lacking.
