Archamedes 10 Posted April 6, 2010 I am getting to the end of my tether with youtube and their over the top policy. I yet again got an email saying one of my video tutorials could be eligable for revenue. Bearing in mind all the ones before i have applied for have been refused with no explanation and no chance to explain your case. Well Today i got another email prompt saying that another one of my tutorials is eligable, so yet again i filled in all questions and gave as much info as i could. surprise suprise it got refused. I then contacted youtube directly and sent them this I really don't know what more information i need to give. I am actuallly getting sick of trying to add or justify my videos on youtube now because of how stupidly tight the rules are getting. Unless its a person in a field wearing clothes with no designer labels, no music or tv in the background and not saying any words that may be related to something copyrighted its no wonder people are now using other sites to host videos. I guess its why closing down napster completly brought music piracy to a complete halt. Back to my video again I am a video tutor, my video is a tutorial explaining how to create a special effect in a 3d program. Here is the bit that i tiresomley have to try and explain to you people. The voice in the video is MINE! There is NO movie or TV Visuals, There is NO Performances from Concerts events or shows. There are NO photographs or artwork used apart from something you actually create yourself if you are following the tutorial and is therefore NOT copyright. There is NO copyrighted music in the video the opening logos were created by myself as i am a video editor if you havent kept up yet. There is NO video game visuals at all and the only visual included is the program needed for the tutorial called 3ds studio max. and by showing this i really fail to see how it falls under any copyright or anything as such, being as companies and other people alike make a full time living by making and selling dvd tutorials the exact same way i have in this video. so if these companies are legally allowed to sell these tutorial dvds then i cannot see how i am causing a copyright issue by hosting it on youtube. so in short i am not ripping of linkin park or hosting the next episode of lost at all for this video (but i can give you more than enough youtube links on tv shows you haven't bothered banning). so for once i would at least like to see one of my NON COPYRIGHTED Tutorials out of the 50 i have online be accepted for revenue as you keep refusing them all the bloody time when im not copyrighting anything except my own work which i can't copyright myself, and i don't think there is any jury in the world that will allow me to sue myself for copyrighting my own work. I now await your next refusal email because i may have mentioned the word "planet" that may be copyrighted by someone. I wonder what they reply with
JdB 151 Posted April 6, 2010 Google bought Youtube. It has been going downhill ever since. My guess is they won't reply, or will send a standard e-mail to you to inform you that such language is not tolerated (under the guise of "breaching user agreements"), and your use of their service is now terminated. sudayev 27 Posted April 6, 2010 Youtube sucks with their last changes that drastically forced us into a new layout and design. Not to mention their wicked policies and idiotic, hyperactive partners from sunny California, spamming the frontpage with their new 'vlogs' where they talk like after eating amphetamines on breakfast, that everyone is supposed to see and contribute and you cant do nothing to turn their stupid mugs off. I watch my subscriptions only on youtube because the guys I watch post their vids only there and when it comes to watching music videos documentaries or any other stuff i usually choose alternative video pages, at least they dont show that sophomoric morons from California and their vlogs or that damn Machinima with just another MW2 game clip on the front page. Youtube was great in 2006-2008, there were lot of positive buzz about it. It was more like a community channel with people discussing and exchanging thier ideas. Now it's commercialized like never before with record companies in it, google ads, and youtube partners who create dumb daily videos showing off their mugs or boobs - for a $ otherwise they would die in the normal world where you have to use your hands, brain and elbows in order to make money and live. It's easier to sit down at home, do stupid videos about trivial things and thats what Youtube has to offer and market. This situation reminds me a discovery main channel. In the past cool programs about the universe, mechanics, big machines, criminal science, medicine I used to watch .Now the main channel serves only - how to flame your farts, are pukes flammable, how much water gets into a condom, grease monkeys building another automobile with lots of "f words" in it and cocky bahaviuor or very average tattoers from Miami. Selling apes, gorillas, or chimpanzees for profit. That's it.
Royal-Killer 10 Posted April 6, 2010 The only thing than i dislike from youtube is how the community is full of COD MW2 players and haters.
Hans Ludwig 0 Posted April 7, 2010 Personally I hate the boring layout that Youtube has. I mean their layout before sucked hard, now they had to make it even worse. I remember when Stage6 by Divx was the best video sharing site, which was managed wrong and had to close. I could have sworn it would have killed Youtube and put it out of its misery. So for now there is no alternative, because all the competition sucks just as bad.
jakerod 254 Posted April 7, 2010 I'm just pissed because I now have to click 500 links to get to my playlists and because they seemingly took away the Randomize feature on said playlists.
jblackrupert 14 Posted April 7, 2010 Ever since the changes maybe 1 out of 10 videos I click actually play. Anyone else have problems playing videos there now?
sudayev 27 Posted April 7, 2010 Another great issue related with new version of youtube - In your subscriptions page each video has a small icon 'X' locted in the upper right corner, to close the video without watching it. Now this feature doesn't work! You click on the button and nothing happens. I was so pissed off when I had to click on every video in order to play it to make it gone from the subs box. There is a solution to make 'X' icon usable. You have to access youtube from: http://www.youtube.com/index_ajax Works well.

jtec 0 Posted April 7, 2010 Hahaha good one mate! It is rather sad that they are going to those extremes, things will only get worse too!
Aeneas2020 10 Posted April 7, 2010 So hang on a sec...why are they being suck dicks to you exactly? I posted a youtube photoshop tutorial and got no such complaints *touch wood* they really should have a less random policy in place for this kind of thing but i am glad you got it sorted mate....in any case i agree with the other posters youtube has def gone downhill recently. Flash Thunder 10 Posted April 7, 2010 All I got to say is the new layout is Shit and the UI designer for youtube needs to be fired ASAP.
Tonci87 163 Posted April 7, 2010 Sig that,. I really don´t know how they managed to make it look even uglyer than before...
Archamedes 10 Posted April 7, 2010 (edited) overall i prefer vimeo it has a much better and easier layout, you dont get your music muted if there is a slight tone that matches that of a pop song. It was the first one to introduce HD (youtube panicked and copied them) and you are also able to download th videos you watch. Alough you cant do this directly from youtube but you can download youtube videos by adding the video url to www.keepvid.com but this is a hassle on its own Edited April 7, 2010 by Archamedes
Colossus 2 Posted April 8, 2010 (edited) What the heck just happend? I have to make a Google account to watch rated videos?! Apprently that's gone now. On topic: The new UI is horrible. Just adds more buttons to click to get to the actual features. Edited April 8, 2010 by colossus

Just adds more buttons to click to get to the actual features. I know right Why would you hide the authors videos in a small window at the top where hardly anyone will notice... Why also make the rating system like or dislike whats the point of that???? I dont rate anymore on any videos. wheres the favorite button unless im blind I dont see it anymore. Its flawed its wrong and It was a major waste of money and resource A) Switching to it B) paying that moron who designed it. Oh has anyone else just realized that Youtube wants you to download videos now? HA are you kidding me, go to hell youtube! im not going to pay 99 cents for a video while I just watched 30 seconds in damn Advertisements. GTFO

They only keep "artistic" videos and the rest are canned by their staff. As of last year tutorials, game videos such were deleted. If you don't believe me, email the staff or read the rules for posting. I know I said it once, but the only cool site, which isn't up anymore, was DivX's Stage6. Not only was it the first HD video hosting (2007), but they had a liberal regulatory policy when it came to user submitted video. I mean there were porn vids that were posted and beheadings. The only thing they took down were movies and new TV shows. I know rightWhy would you hide the authors videos in a small window at the top where hardly anyone will notice... kavoven 4 Posted April 8, 2010 The new design is horrible. And here in Germany nearly all the music videos I'm looking for are either banned because of copyrights or I can't access them because I AM from Germany... In most cases I just want to check if I got the right song. Now I just wanted to watch the preview of the next How I met your Mother episode since I can't watch it on CBS, but they start banning those PREVIEWS (its a 20 sec clip!!!) at once... Just stupid. SASrecon 0 Posted April 8, 2010 To me it just sounds like google scoffed their greedy faces by buying youtube, filled it with ads and a load a copyright-regulations, then to add insult to injury they buttf*cked the layout :p
SWT_Janowich 10 Posted April 8, 2010 You all don't get one thing: The previous year Youtube had an income of around 450.000.000$, while losing 720.000.000$. The advertising is necessary to pay the servers so you have it for free. Google just tries to make it profitable.
JdB 151 Posted April 8, 2010 The new design is horrible. Yep. Previously it used to be possible to display all comments to a video while continuing to watch the video. Now it goes to a separate page, directing you away from the video you were watching. Means having to go back and reload the video from scratch. This is the worst redesign in internet history.
