therev709 10 Posted August 2, 2010 (edited) Update First I updated the addon list in my previous update post. I'm still considering cutting the addon requirement list by one or two addons, but the biggest thing I'm working on while I wait for the rest of my voice actors (some of home have 50 plus lines to record) is to immplement Mando Missile for Arma 2. The biggest features I want to include are the Air Support Console, SCUD missiles, and the javelin/at launchers. Otherwise, prepare for release in a couple of weeks. A few things to look forward to: Story driven campaign with high quality voice acting from a variety of players from the Arma community. Use of high quality addons such as McNool's Tier One units and Namalsk Island. Music from your favorite action movies and games (all Hans Zimmer ;]) Dynamic Weather. Bring the rain with LDL's AC-130 script. Mando Missile scripts that allow you to call in everything from CAS to Airborne paratroopers. OA Features such as thermal imaging and FLIR. High quality cutscenes to guide the story from mission to mission. You are the last line of defense between the free world and nuclear holocaust . . . You are Task Force 94 Edited August 3, 2010 by TheRev709

therev709 10 Posted August 7, 2010 Update: Beta has been delivered to the voice actors, but I'm going to open it up to anybody who would like to help me squash the bugs. I need people who can give feed back, and are looking for quality issues. Constructive criticism on how I structured the campaign is also welcome. FYI, the beta is NOT complete, and is missing 95% of the voice acting, so you wont really know what is going on, but you will have tasks and objectives in the briefing menu. PM me if you're interested.
sweguy96 10 Posted August 9, 2010 cant you add RobertHammers weapons as optional like Sick1 done to his campagin?? please :)
giuppo 1 Posted August 9, 2010 Hi USRanger709, I like your intention and agree to keep just necessary addons or really needed, we should use at maximum weapons offered by BIS before to add others (It's just my opinion): RH's weapons are good, but we have so much choice already... Or, as suggest sweguy96, add them "optionaly" only. Thank you too to have removed ace and the others addons.
therev709 10 Posted August 9, 2010 As much as I love all of the amazing addons the community has put out, I do understand that having unnecessary addons (such as a unit model only used for show, not actually a part of the mission) is just dead wait in terms of storage space. I'm doing everything I can to use the addons that are included as much as possible where appropriate. In terms of optional weapon packs, I'm seriously considering it, because I do love having as many options in terms of guns. While a 5.56 SCAR will work just as fine as a 5.56 TAR21 in the game, its still just fun to have the option. I'm weighing the options of having optional weapon packs, as most haven't been updated with OA features. I'll see whats available at the time of release, as finishing the campaign takes priority, and it only takes five minutes to add weapons and magazines to the descripton.ext ;) Irregardless, this campaign will be cockfull of guns, gear, and wicked features, such as Mando Missile's CAS Console and LDL's AC-130! Imagine calling in AH-64 gunships to suppress an enemy ambush then take control of the AC-130 to repel a massive tank assault!
Kommiekat 12 Posted August 9, 2010 Dude! You think you could squeeze in the L.A. Lakers cheerleaders doing some pole dancing? I mean, the extra boobage is not THAT heavy, is it?

therev709 10 Posted August 12, 2010 RH weapon packs will be added as optional. I'm still debating which ones however, as I hope more are updated for OA (HK416/17 and ACR especially :) ) However, the way some of the missions are set up, you will not always have the option to change your teams load outs, only the main character's. Fox '09 14 Posted August 12, 2010 not too many addons please, it's the number 1 reason i dont download most missions
therev709 10 Posted August 12, 2010 (edited) not too many addons please' date=' it's the number 1 reason i dont download most missions[/quote']All of the weapon packs will be optional, meaning at the beginning of some mission you might get a little error, just hit 'OK' and keep playing, it wont affect anything. Final campaign will require about 9 or so addons, here is the list so far: Namalsk Island Podagorsk Island Desert Mercs and Black Ops Tier One Operators SBJ SAS and SBS pack MRAPs NIMs Dynamic Weather AC-130 script v0.4 IED pack Optional Weapon Addons: RH HK416 pack (hopefully updated for OA once campaign is released [*hint hint robert hammer ;) ]) RH MK18 Pack for OA RH M14 Pack for OA RH Pistol Pack Max255/McNools M4A3 Pack Every required addon is used throughout the campaign as much as possible, so they're not pointless. It all helps craft a completely new experience you wont get from Arma 2 or OA ;) Edited August 12, 2010 by TheRev709
therev709 10 Posted August 16, 2010 (edited) UPDATE: The campaign is about 90% done . . . its just that this last 10% will take a while. All I have left to do is: Beta Testing Implement final voice acting The Beta testing is just a tedious process, but so far each mission is playable and beatable, just a few things to tweak. The voice acting is what is holding me back so far. While I only have a few more voice actors to turn in lines, its inputing the lines in the game is what has become tedious. The script has around 350 to 400 lines, my character (the main player) has 107. What really sucks is that I'm not happy with the way my PC recorded all 107 of those original lines, and that the Audacity beta was the culprit. Thus I'm reinstalling the non-beta and re-recording all 107 lines. Then all I need to do is put them in the description.ext, put them in scripts, play each mission to make sure the timing and volume is correct, fix errors, and repeat. With 400 lines, 9 missions, ~20 cutscenes expect a few more weeks :/ However, I must say that the wait will be worth it. This campaign will be epic, I promise. Expect the next update to include the release, Ranger out. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QoFM1cR1yP8&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QoFM1cR1yP8&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y749zX0JBQ0&fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y749zX0JBQ0?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> Edited August 16, 2010 by TheRev709

sick1 13 Posted August 16, 2010 (edited) If people don't want to download addons, its there own mistake in my opinion. People make them for a reason, and eventually when this game is sitting like the first arma, addons will be what makes the game new. So stop being lazy and understand that mission makers need addons to create a unique experience. I have played the beta, and if you don't want the thrill of using these great addons don't even bother downloading his campaign. Play the stock campaign and move along. Also, i will get you the voice overs today hopefully;) Man this campaign is going to be epic. Thank you so much for putting quality into a campaign. I started making campaigns a little over a year ago, because no one was making anything with any real quality. Except for a few that lacked any custom audio, this one is beyond great. Guys like us will hopefully inspire others creators to release works of art rather than unfinished projects that they never had the time to complete. They will understand what I mean when they play this masterpiece. Great job buddy!! Edited August 16, 2010 by Sick1
Devil Dogs SF 13 Posted August 16, 2010 I agree with Sick1 on the addon subject. Anyway, this really looks good and high quality, can't wait for the release.

therev709 10 Posted August 21, 2010 any news mate? can't wait ;) Just released the second and final beta to all of the voice actors today. Otherwise I'm just waiting on the last voice actors to finish recording and get back to me, once I have all of the voice lines and all (if any) major bugs fixed it will be released :)
Florklin 10 Posted August 21, 2010 I can´t hardly wait! Names like Sick1, USRanger709, Zipper, Bardosy, or Specialist (and please, forgive me if i don´t mention all the good creators out there) are truly inspirational for people like me trying to make our first steps in the mission creating world. ArmA will be alive and kickin´ as long as there are people like you (and scripters, addon makers, map creators...). PD: Excuse my english, i do my best
RSharpe 0 Posted August 21, 2010 (edited) Help! I'm having a great deal of trouble with these missions. I think I have ACE installed, and activated. When I run the Combined Operations in Steam, I get the ACE screen. When I run a mission it tells me that all sorts of ACE components are missing and the mission won't run. I bought ARMA2 and ARMA2 OA separately on Steam, but I thought I figured out how to run Combined Operations with the mods activated through it. I'm obviously doing something wrong however. In Operation Cold Harvest I first get an error about a missing missile guidance something files (too fast for me to catch), then in the mission map I get: "No entry 'bin\config.bin/CfgWeapons.ACE_M249Para_M145'. I can't even get Jackle Hunt to run at all either. After the intro, I get the following error: "You cannot play/edit this mission; it is dependent on downloadable content that has been deleted.acex_c_men_usarmy, acex_c_veh_gmv, acex_c_veh_styker, acex_c_veh_mah6, acex_c_veh_uh60" Edited August 22, 2010 by RSharpe

Try installing Ace2 for Arma 2 and just run Arma 2, not CO or OA as the Ace2 mod for OA/CO is different.

grub 10 Posted August 25, 2010 following error:"You cannot play/edit this mission; it is dependent on downloadable content that has been deleted.acex_c_men_usarmy, acex_c_veh_gmv, acex_c_veh_styker, acex_c_veh_mah6, acex_c_veh_uh60" That can also occur if you are trying to continue a mission you saved previously running these mods. Make sure they are all still in your target line and that you haven't forgotten a semicolon or an @. :) After testing only the first few missions of USRanger709's SoVTF94, I can say that he's really aiming for a story driven campaign. I was impressed by the amount of time he's spent working out the the script while at the same time not skimping on the overall quality of each mission. Each character has really been developed well and you really feel like your an elite solider who at the same time isn't a completely unrealistic Rambo type . And with A+ voice acting.... :p Good work USRanger.
