Latest beta and CTD - please read

If your new to beta's and think CTD's sounds like something to stay away from. Please remember that this is a beta and BIS is making new changes to the engine and therefor they stroke success sometimes, but also has to move into more uncertain waters when trying to perfect the game. So the more people that test the beta and then report back - the better BIS will be able to fix this game - and faster.

The beta is a 5sec-1minute download, and ca 10 second installation. It does not mess with the original game at all. You get 2 separate start icons. Your old ARMA2 start icon will be left alone and will start the game as it did before. The beta is installed as an ADDON and will be installed in a folder called BETA. It will get a SHORTCUT called Launch Arma2 Beta Patch and thats what you start it with. So you dont have to do anything at all but a fast install and then start it with its new shortcut.

I know most of you know this, but for those that dont, and still want to be cool peeps and help report if they do get a CTD or not, get good FPS or not. It helps BIS a lot.

***Write down your computer specs and when the CTD happened. Like in the beginning in the game or after long time gaming. What settings you run. This extra info would be superb.***

EDIT1: I forgot. Please for you that have Dev Heaven accounts - report it there. A ticket should be made soon if not yet. Easier for the devs to use DH. My little testings so far has not given me any CTD. Testing continues however.

EDIT2: Argh wanted to change the title a bit. Was in a hurry. Was thinking of getting people to read that was scared of installing a beta that people commenting it CTD a lot. If a mod can add some smart extra to the title it would be great. I can see people think i have some sort of fix for the CTD lol... Sorry guys.

Here too...CDT happens very frequent now, this never happend before.

Until build 60295 CTD happend very rarely...the only constant problem till this was freezing in MP. In fact I cant rember a single Warfare BE mission without server crash oder my comp freezing after a hour or so.

This is the first beta however which caused problems as this.

So guys, when did the CTD happen for you? How long into the game? What setting are you using like very high, high or medium. I think some of those things are necessary as well to pin point the problem.

Im still fighting like mad but cant get a CTD. Not yet that is. Ive just played a short time though.

Well, sorry to say this. but i also notice lot of CTD in MP... not in SP. I only play COOP maps on MP.

At this time i use original 1.04.59026 patch no beta... seems to be better.

EDIT:

Yesterday i got CDT almost every 2 hours.

And today, well... got CTD 20 min in game when i start up a truck.

Man i must be really lucky with my box, ArmA 2 has been running great on my box since release and still does on latest beta :cool:

But i feel sorry those pestered with CTD's and other major issues :(

I only play MP. Switched back to 141 beta patch and no more crashes. Before every few minutes a crash.

Ok so its the MP people get CTD's in. Thats "good" as that narrows it down. Ive tested it in SP only so far and there is no crash.

Well i hosted the mission i tested in but played alone!

Our Server crashed now 4 or 5 times after updating to 295.

And it is now also back to 141.

This is the first beta patch with such problems, so no problem :)

Confirmed. If I try and move a Utility Truck from base in a Domination game, it CTD solid. Only when I move a truck.

Update, yes, motorcycles crash me now too.

Put previous beta on and it's good. Put new one back on and consistent CTD on the utility truck and motorcycles.

That might be possible. I've just lunched a warefare mission for myself, bought 3 soldiers and ordered them to board a jeep... The game crashed the moment I was about to start driving. Though that might be coincidence only.

I drove a HMMWV in domination without any problems!

CTDed as I was setting off on a motorbike in Cipher, both times I tried it, same result.

Just played Domination without any problems.

We tried Domination too, no problems with Dom and funny enough, no crash during Dom (not a Dom version you can download anywhere). Next mission client crashes, server too.

There are some players who have no problems at all while others crash constantly. It seems to be related to vehicles or sounds like kju wrote.

Allmost like planes in MP. In missions with a lot of planes flown by players the same happens, CTDs. Sometimes you CTD when you look at the plane of a player who crashed a few seconds before (not related to the beta patches, happens in release patch too).

Some vehicles caused allready problems in MP missions before the current beta patches (boats, trucks). Though land vehicles only, choppers are fine.

Started Warfare BE on dedicated server with 60295 with most clients also on same beta. One person on BLUFOR crashed twice. Once when trying to move a Supply Truck and once with an ambulance.

I tried moving a Repair Truck on OPFOR and crashed. Switching back to previous build fixed it, even though it was still the same match and server was running 60295 beta still. We both have the same modset which includes VopSound with Tracked and Heli sounds.

Just tried getting into Russian ammo truck and had a CTD.

Random CTD's I get all the time but it is worse with the 60295

Seems it is in MP and when entering vehicles then. Good for BIS to know. Faster and better fix. :)

I've gotten CTD's twice today with the new beta. But it seems to be the NoBlur Mod. I changed back the bin file to use the BIS shaders and the CTDs went away.
