Shift left mouse click on map equals.. donut?

Recommended Posts

I noticed if you hold down shift and left click on the map that a little donut-like icon will appear.

It's not really a donut, I'm just trying to describe it

I was wondering what this was? Can people on MP see it? I did not see it mentioned in Dslyecxi's or the game's manual.

Its a self created waypoint you can see on screen.

I personally use it for easy LZ identification.

So it is... thanks..!

The way I use it is to set the waypoint. Then if I want to send my troops to it, I then hit #1,#9 Which means goto next waypoint.

Neat part is if you suddenly want a detour go ahead and send them someplace else by left clicking on map, leaving the waypoint to original spot. Then when you want to resume, hit the 1,9 again.

This only works if you are squad leader though.

There's a lot of stuff in this game that isn't documented.

Take the High command tutorial that will teach you everything you'll need. :)

You can also hold left control and set multiple waypoints!

Lol, never knew this. Does it also work when you have no group? (only yourself in a group as TL) cant test atm.

It always works regardless if your squad leader/team leader or not. But it only works as a squad waypoint if your squad leader.

But it will always work as a personal waypoint regardless.

Yes, it works when you have no group, since then you are technically the leader of a 1-man squad ;)

Shift-click waypoints are extra awesome as a pilot. Suddenly makes navigation 100x easier.

This is a cool find. Will stop all those "ground interface violations" while the pilot is looking at the map. :)

I use this for many things;

A:Marking friendly locations so I know where not to rain down M203 rounds.

B:Giving myself a waypoint so I don't keep having to refer to the map

C:Marking the edge of a hot zone so I can gauge my distance to an AO.

D:Putting the marker on top of a spotted "red"/enemy vehicle on the map so I can find it easier.

I cant tell if its difficulty setting related though, but I normally play on the 7th Cav Domination server and I used to be able to see it even when on foot. Now I can only see it when in some vehicles; M1a1 and AAV in any position (driver gunner etc). You cant see it when you drving the LAV however, only when your in the gunners seat.

Are these bugs, difficulty setting or intentional?

Yeah, gotta be team lead. Since I ONLY play warfare, I'm always team lead. :)

Either you're wrong or my game is bugged because I cannot create a blip on the map by doing this if I'm a peon (non-commander).
