dmarkwick 261 Posted September 23, 2009 In my ArmA1 install I have the Durg's vegetation fix, is there a recommended approach to using it in CAA1? Just copy across the file? Place the file in it's own mod folder? Any need to rename the file?
.kju 3245 Posted September 23, 2009 From what I recall, someone tried to use PROPER plants (which includes Durg's work) and he got visual problems. It is easy to try though.
dmarkwick 261 Posted September 23, 2009 Isn't Durg's fix all about creating visual problems? ;)
bigshot 64 Posted September 23, 2009 sometimes when i copy over an arma1 addon into arma2 i get an error stating that a certain version is required to run the addon and so the addon in question never gets loaded into the game...anyone know if theres an easy fix for this problem? dimitri_harkov 10 Posted September 23, 2009 un-pbo the files, open the config, search for the line 'requiredVersion' and delete it, save, re-pbo, done. Sounds difficult, but it's easy and well worth the trouble. Cheers, D.
bigshot 64 Posted September 24, 2009 many thanks for the heads-up, Dimitri!...much appreciated :-)
Aelin 10 Posted September 24, 2009 kju i cant understand:if i want just the maps can i dw caa1 only?will it work?also...does it contain civilians from a1?do i need oac or cba for them?the oac address in the wiki is empty
.kju 3245 Posted September 24, 2009 to get a1 worlds in a2 you need * caa1 * oac * at times tweak the world a bit ofc its not a polished port, yet most times works fairly well The infantry skeleton has change. So porting infantry models is not as simple. Unless someone else converts them they won't be part of caa1. CBA is only needed for the camel and ah6 for their scripts (or remove their caa1_f_* files). Please post a link to the page you have a problem with.
BD1 0 Posted September 25, 2009 Superb work sir! I just added a post to TG advising all to download... http://www.tacticalgamer.com/arma-2-general-discussion/147990-caa1-do.html#post1364025 Will you have the update for the MH6's etc to download as a patch? Or would you prefer everyone to use Yoma's addon tool now? Ta BD1
.kju 3245 Posted September 25, 2009 Blackdog if someone else is up to creating the patch, otherwise I will just compile the installer again with the latest version after the next soonish update. So in other words, the initial download can be torrent or standard HTTP link (installer), or YAS (or single file download via HTTP). The update is meant to be done via YAS. --- It'd be cool get a1 terrain ported properly. If some people are willing to join the effort, especially ppl to get permission, people into world editing to fix bugs and improve to a2 standards, we could get this going. Excellent OK mate...I am getting the guys in the TG-22nd to start using Yoma's Sync tool anyway, so thats fine. Also I have noticed some shadow issues on certain buildings, I didnt check if this has already been mentioned , but certainly a couple of buildings on Porto and also Avgani namely the barns across from the white factory south of town! The shadow almost goes through other buildings, i.e. you can see it when stood on the other side of the factory, but also it does not follow the sun tracking. Anyway... if you need us to help test anything at all...give me a shout. I am just making a 22nd mission for Porto currently... Best BD1
.kju 3245 Posted September 26, 2009 You need to use very high shadow (or high?). Normal (and high?) shadow is calc by CPU. NO GOOD AT ALL TO USE! So try, off, high or very high.
Smuke 10 Posted September 26, 2009 Gents, Whenever I try to download CAA1 using Yoma's Addon Sync, it gets to the 50th file, then after that the rest are red, and cant be downloading saying "extracting failed". Any ideas?
.kju 3245 Posted September 26, 2009 What is the 50th file? What happens if you try again (in detail)?

Any ideas? I got the same error when i was downloading the caa1 files. Not sure which file it was though. It seemed 7zip was attempting to unpack a non 7zip file. I restarted the download and didn't get that error anymore. YAS did stop downloading many times because of timeouts. Must have been the connection between yas and the sync server because i never get connection timeouts on internet. I kept restarting it and eventually all was downloaded. Dl-speed was slow. If i had to do it again i would download the full installer. Cheers ;) PS: v1.0.

Also changes in YAS will make it easier to mirror repo's so maybe someday soon we can get some mirrors going to enhance the experience.
Nickos 10 Posted September 26, 2009 Ahh...finally downloaded this fine...thing! Bah, i even starting making missions thanks to CAA1. Right now i'm making "Sahrani Ops" freeroam-mercenary mission. BD1 0 Posted September 27, 2009 (edited) I downloaded YAS09 and it seems great, but I have a problem trying to get the default servers function to work says "cannot import table" so I cannot update the CAA1 file at the moment. Also having not had a problem prior to this, I suddenly have an error on porto where certain buildings are no longer showing up. I hope the update may in fact be a fix for this, but for example Hut4 for the south west corner has suddenly gone missing... Ok so having checked it with jons editor the same issue occurs, the following have gone missing.. ca\buildings\misc\data\zidka01.pac also ca\buildings\shop5.p3d also on Sahrani the building "Abrezi.p3d" seems to be missing..
