ARMA II Patch 1.03 & Dedicated Server Released .

Recommended Posts

Steam seemingly did download the whole game again - just checked my useage and there was 4.5GB downloaded while I was asleep and I had no downloads queued.

Oh well, was all down before I woke up. :)

A) can be launched from service (if it's that what you mean)

B) copy arma2.exe to arma2_server1.exe and arma2_server2.exe and run each with -server and other parameters (different profiles and so on)

C) use offline mode (Go offline) mode and -server works fine

C) The service is executed in the background and as such no user is logged into the machine to run steam. How would we perform this and why would i waste precious resources with steam running?

Can we at least get a timeframe for when the dedicated server will be released??!! Are we talking hours, days, or weeks?

I'm really frustrated by the lack of communication from BI.

Woah, nice work... speed patching a go-go. Allow us to loot a red beret off a SpecOp corpse at some point and this game'll knock Hidden & Dangerious 2 off my podium as all time best Co-Op. :yay:

I think the dedi patch will come quite fast.

Right now im busy testing the hearing of the AI. And i managed to sneak up (with ghillie suit and CAREFUL sneaking in slow crawl) to 13 meters behind the AI. At 12 meters he heared me and started turning. Very nice.

Overall, the patch improves many significant aspects of the game and this is more than appreciated. However, I can't hide my disappointment about 1 major point which in my judgement, have not received the necessary attention:

- The vegetation streaming still requires more effort to make it look more real, as having bushes popping up when you advance through forrests is kind of frustrating and looks very unreal.

I guess that this is due to the LOD switching and hope this will get fixed within the next incoming days.

But the rest is very satisfying, including the performance.

Regards,

TB

Honestly, things that really do need improvement, are :

- the voices and the sounds in general in the game.

Voices on the radio are way too loud.

Trying to change this in the options has clearly NO EFFECT.

Especially obvious in the first missions of the campaign, like during the "powerpoint briefing" on the ship, or anywhere.

Way too loud and the settings don't respond correctly.

- graphics optimization : a lot of work need to be done on this. How come you loose so many FPS when moving your eyes from sky or low vegetation areas to simply building and/or fights views ?

ArmA1 was running smoother than this.

Honestly, things that really do need improvement, are : [...]

Don't forget :

- Airplanes automatic rudders,

- Stationary CH-29 when launched up to 4000m from target.

...

But thank you BIS for your work on 1.03.

Anyone else getting this error ?

ArmA 2: Updating version 1.02 to version 1.03...

Update 1.02-1.03\ADDONS\AIR.PBO.BI.BISIGN.UPD cannot be applied, error xdelta3 returned error code: 1

I've tried two download servers, both times being corrupted ? Or is it that particular file on my installation ?

Stop press - it has now installed thepatch - off to see the result . . .

Stop stop press - now getting a Pixel Shader error and game fails to load. Any ideas ?

Unfortunately Steam is yet not able to patch your addons using data differences. Steam must copy whole new addon over.

So: next patch = new 4 gig download?? :( :butbut:

You should find a place for this in the 'Suggestions' section. This is not it.

It would help people greatly if they read the first post.

If they had done so they would know that it was recommended to backup your present game files if you wanted to keep them as it was not possible to otherwise rollback.

EDIT: I emboldened the relevant passage for any future readers.

Planck

The only problem is, that makes this a Beta Patch, not an official Patch. Why would ppl need to backup their files if this is an official patch. Essentially you guys have got everyone to download a beta patch with no serve files to play it only.

Why would you release a patch without server files to play it online, that doesn't make any sense. This is a total mess up guys, really bad idea. You should have warned everyone in advance that there would be no server files with this release & most ppl would have waited.

Or the best way would have been to wait on releasing this until you had server files also.

For all those lucky ppl who downloaded the new patch, the Server files haven't been released yet, so you can't play your game online. You also can't roll back the version, so you will have to re-install ARMA2 to play online. You might want to pass the word around as it would appear that info about the server files not being included was left out of the release notes of the 1.03 patch.

No Servers files = no online servers being updated, so you can't play online, unless you re-install back to 1.02

Can you ask them for a link, because the word from BIS is

Dedicated server will be released later, no idea when that later will be, but it goes without saying it will be as soon as we possibly can release it.

Excuse my ignorance but sometimes the blind needs directions also.

* Fixed: 3D Editor - civilian and resistance units did not work correctly

What 3D editor?

Any way to make it update the .pbos that I've modified?

It skips over wheeled.pbo and wheeled2 because I edited the VW golf to make it faster offroad.
