VME PLA MOD for ARMA II

Good work!

Let's hope this mod gains on popularity, so that we can further modify and improve it, based on the community.

I hope Alex will upload the source files soon, so the work can begin.

Chinese voices and some smaller bug fixes should be the first priority... And maybe the inclusion of the OA:BAF artillery module for the PLZ-05 self-propelled artillery, which now still lacks it due to being made for vanilla ArmA2...

I Placed every Vehicle and 2 Squads on the Map, and got these errors.

As for the timer by the way, yeah you can see in the pic and further below where ive translated it.

in the picture below you will see this line:

LoL impossible waiting times...

mean: file status: will not avaliable to download after 28 days 2 hours 31 minites 42 secends

Well mate, if you dont understand perfectly good English then thats what my translation was sounding the same as! your just using a poxy translator software!

if you can speak Chinese like me then you will know that "Zhong guo han zi" has many meanings and translations per character! I did it the best way so that others could understand.

Are there chinese voice files for the PLA units ?

There is no bigger immersion killer as PLA shouting russian commands...

If there arent any, are there some recorded chinese voice files you can choose ingame via a trigger or something ?

And the faces, do the PLA units only use asian faces ?

Or is this up to the scenario designer to give each soldiers asian faces ?

lurch again! this is always happening! ... sad as me and many others wanna play it.

I'm sorry, the 2011-10-01 to 2011-10-07 is Chinese National Day holiday, so I was not to play game or visit BI Forums.

We not to upload the Files on abroad site because it is very slow to visit or upload files to them from China.

I have the same exact questions. I am using "enablevoice = false" at the moment and trying to work on voices with some Hong Kong, Mainland Chinese friends. Not so easy to get people to make the ogg files.

Alex has a whole community going. Maybe he can ask his members to make some .ogg files?? hint hint:)

I'm in China at the moment and Alex is right, National Holiday combined with the internet sucks at this time

What I said, in other words, is download time provided by the 115 network disk is not permanent, if you wanna download the file, you can do it from now on to 28days 2hours 31minutes 42seconds later. Man, I live and work in China and have done for the past 8 years! ive never ever ever ever came across a Chinese guy or girl using words

such as "wanna" and also saying a whole sentence without and "chinglish" in it! your English reply to me was perfect, so sorry... dont believe your Chinese!

The translation I gave was perfect for anyone else to understand, there wasnt any complaints was there? so... anyways lets just forget it. :)

@Alex.XP - I know it was the holiday mate, didnt mean it like that... even im here in China and been around my computer at least a minute to

answer/help with the problems, please do think next time about uploading it whatever then dont use a busy period in which will just cause many more problems, lol.

Not so easy to get people to make the ogg files.

If the issue is the time to make the sounds I understand. But with Audacity or another similar sound program it is easy to convert almost any format (.wav, .mp3) to .ogg -- so don't worry about the source file being an .ogg.

I agree the biggest pity for VME_PLA is the lack of chinese dubbing. Need a organizer and at least 5~8 volunteers with distinct accent.

I personlly helped LWM2000AAA with some config.cpp. LWM2000AAA is almost the last man still dedicated to VME PLA. Many talented people have left the team.

And I've ever sourced from Fromz(OHPLA developer)that BIS ever tried to invite him to co-develop a DLC about PLA, but finally run aground...maybe BIS decided to focus its energy on ArmA3...Anyway, as a chinese guy, I do expect a great PLA MOD for ArmA2.

OHPLA has good small arms and chinese dubbing, whilst VME PLA equiped with descent vehicles, heavy arms ...if they could be combined, would be much better...

I know Fromz had some sort of issue with the Chinese government taking his models for their use, at least his aircraft models. It's possible they decided to use his other stuff as well and he just didn't want to spend the time to make brand new models of everything. I definitely agree that combining them into one mod would improve things for everybody, although aligning armor values, ammo types, etc. etc. might be a bit of a pain.

If you have the chinese voice files from OHPLA it would be easy via a script to make the chinese soldiers use the correct voice files (at least while in combat).

Believe me, that alone would be a huge improvement...all you need is the voice files...

Im not sure if we just can use the OHPLA voice files in our missions.

But again, are you sure that there are no chinese voice files inside the VME PLA MOD ?

Maybe they are there, just place a trigger, go to effects and take a look, maybe there are voice files, just not used for the soldiers.

Either that, or better remake a whole new set of voices from Chinese voice actors (including me). However the major problem is the formatting of sentences. If not to follow the Chinese one it will be sound like OFP DR from CM.

To be honest; the Chinese voices from OFDR werent even half bad.

Sure, they werent perfect and had some problems, but at least they sounded like real mainland/north-eastern chinese mandarin. The voices from RR, on the other hand, sounded all as if the VA's where non-native mainlanders or Taiwanese people...

It would be a great feat if the mod could attain DR's level of mandarin at the very least, plus the correct Chinese military jargon (especially in terms of numbers and tactical language).

But that's the question. If they could be combined.

Tell you what, I've just finished a 20 hour intensive Putonghua course in Kunming, China.

That, mixed with my American accented, terrible nasty speaking Gondonghua, maybe we can put together some .ogg files??:butbut:

All we need is someone capable of knowing how to put together configs and VOILA!:D

With Fromz's help, the Chinese voice will be add in OpenPLA project, and he will help me to improve the models and animations, these also will appear in that project.

I am planning the OpenPLA, and I well give you more explanation on dev-heaven in next few days.(Thanks kju to help me create the repository).

The VME PLA's soldiers has the chinese face, but can not use to custom face.

I will add more Chinese face into OpenPLA, they will base on VME PLA and OH PLA.
