Placebo 29 Posted May 29, 2009 Does arma 2 only come out on steam? No :)
Laqueesha 474 Posted May 30, 2009 ArmA 1 is available on Direct2Drive.com, maybe ArmA 2 will be? Direct2Drive is a good way to get games, I've bought and downloaded several games from there with little-to-no problem.

Steakslim 1 Posted June 1, 2009 (edited) wow, the forums were down all weekend, at least when I clicked the link that's what it said, I got a message that the forums had be temporally disabled due to all the traffic for the patch, I just check not long ago and it was still down, now I come on & there are all these new forums, threads & posts........ what happened, I thought the forums were down??Well, ether way their back up now & yes, we are still without any kind of solid news about the US release. Not sure why...... just frustrated.... The forums were taken down, and moved to a new server if I read Placebo's posts on Armaholic correctly. I just now was able to get on this forum, but it has all posts listed as unread, perhaps that's what you are seeing because before you post TCEd, the last psots was of the morning of the 30th in this thread. So no, we just now got the forums back. Aaanndd for some reason my posts is showing up before yours TCEd, I have no clue as of why. Steakslim 1 Posted June 1, 2009 I saw a preorder popup for ArmA 2 on Steam that has a release date of June 26th. I see it too, this is good news if it's true and not Steam having a blooper. One week after the UK release rather than a month or more.
Steakslim 1 Posted June 1, 2009 the forums have gone wonky, threads posted after me, show up before me, whats the deal... Probably some strange bug that occured after the forum went up but has since went away for any other posts. You post will be in the future till 5:16pm eastern. New server must be powered by a flux compacitor.

BOTA:16 0 Posted June 1, 2009 Yeah it's up on Steam for pre-order. Though no mention of a publisher. I wonder if the boxed copies are going to be released on the 19th and Steam the 26th. If not then I will be pre-ordering it on Steam.
TCEd 0 Posted June 1, 2009 (edited) The much anticipated wait is over, the news of when -who - how the US market would get ARMA2 is that Steam is now offering a per-order option as of today! This will probably be only the first option to US fans, as more eTailers & Game sites will follow suit. Prague, Czech Republic, June 1st — Bohemia Interactive, creators of award winning military simulator games Operation Flashpoint and ArmA: Combat Operations and Valve Corporation, a developer of leading-edge technologies and software, announced today one of the most anticipated PC Game of 2009,ARMA II, is available for pre-purchase worldwide via Steam, Valve's leading platform for digital content distribution and management. You can download Steam below, then check out the Steam News or Coming Soon tabs to pre order. http://store.steampowered.com/about/ Edited June 1, 2009 by TCEd

sbsmac 0 Posted June 1, 2009 Ha - looks like we were both browsing steam as they published this. See my thread here about the UK steam distribution. Interesting that the UK version will not unlock until 30th June vs 26th for US.

Dangerdog 0 Posted June 1, 2009 BIS is self publishing then? No retail boxed copies in NA market?
zoog 18 Posted June 1, 2009 Strange that it's release date is set to 30th june while Europeans are also able to buy via Steam... Shouldn't it be the 19th?
Sweeet 10 Posted June 1, 2009 Nice! Since it's a US release as you say(or whatever) does that mean you can get it earlier when actually buying it on dvd in europe? Edit: What zoog said!:P
NoQuarter 0 Posted June 1, 2009 So given something options like Steam, the 505 edition from CD WOW!, and the possibility of some new Publisher for our market with timing and price differences -- where do your preferences fall:· get it ASAP regardless of source or price · love Steam, will wait for that · want a CD from a reseller I know & trust · what/who ever has the lowest price I had originally intended on pre-ordering this title but considering the current state of the game, the lack of any concrete info of or for a NA distributor, and the fact that I just don't do DD...I'm settling in and waiting till the box hits the shelves here. hoak 0 Posted June 1, 2009 Updated the post at the top of this thread with the all resellers and channels that are or will offer English versions to all North America (no Canada or U.S. exclusives posted)... :)
Placebo 29 Posted June 1, 2009 It'll be on Sprocket roughly same week as the EU box version.
TCEd 0 Posted June 1, 2009 The Steam news is obviously great news to ppl who like to download the game, rather than buy a disk. I personally like to download my games, hence the reason I was excited about the news. It does say "worldwide" on their news post, which means........ oh, you know. So to all those who had no solid info on where/how they could download the game in the USA, this fills that void of info, also for everyone "worldwide". As for buying a hard copy, if that is your intent, CD WOW, which as you will see on the link, is US, you can also select in the upper right corner the flag of your location to visit that page. They are selling the DVD version for less than all other countries & sites, including the UK prices. They are selling it at $39.99, which I believe includes shipping. So, if it's a DVD your wanting to pre-order & you live in the US, you can already pre-order by visiting their site, which was posted on these forums last week sometime. TCEd 0 Posted June 1, 2009 Well, it says "worldwide" so I would take that for what it means.
