PROJECT'85 TOPIC

Please release P85 with an full replacement config, this would be much better than it would only work with missions that are made for p85.

Can`t wait to get back to the "good old times". inlove.gif

Replacement files are in since the first internal beta, all BIS things get replaced when you run P85.

Intention is to have some missions right away even if thats not too original

Hopefully people will make missions or even campaigns with the mod later.

As we use replacements one could basicly already start to make missions.

Mission makers who got soem work samples are already welcome to pm me though if one is good he may be able to join.

95 % of BIS Vehicles/Aircrafts/Troops/Weapons are replaced by P'85 Models.

To say the least, but enough said, heh.

Maybe we need to say less to keep the 'expectations' level quite reasonable.

What is the "grill" in front of the truck? Anti RPG? or some radiator?

no, just cover against bushes, rocks, stones and other things that can destroy radiator, lights

maybe to mount leafs, bush for cover

I think the point is, no one really awaits a 100% complete and perfect balanced mod.

Everyone surely realizes the scale of mods like ACE, Project 85, CWR, CWM, etc.

So i believe no-one would really "care" if you would release the mod as a beta in the stage it is currently.

@Mr.  I disagree.  Waiting can give you a biger and better mod.  I would like to wait and see what else P85 has to offer.  You never know what they might throw in?

Also I found a link showing all cold war aircrafts for the US and the USSR.  Some other places also, but US and USSR mainly.

There were a lot more aircrafts being used than I realized.

From the link I was wondering if P85 going to add the Apache and Kiowa Warrior.  Just wonding because if that link is true than those are two great helicopters durning that time.  Thats just my opinion.  Anyways there are a few other questions I have about Aircrafts but I'll save them for another day and time.

aircrafts ?

we have Su-25 :] MiG-29 and Mi-8, Mi-24, AH-64, CH-47 :]

for the moment it is nonsense to loose time for aircrafts in game which has horrible fly-ability

many players cannot fly in this game, which in OFP was very easy

so we not waiste time on aircrafts in game which flyings is to hard :[

planes may be objects to black-ops to blow up, like heavy artillery which is nonsense in game engine too , cause in this game AI cannot use artillery support in attack, only player can use advanced scripting

in real fight first artillery covers with fire area on which enemy has been spoted, here ... here AI has problem to cross the bridge :[

we focus on infantry/vehicles, ground actions

I admire you for all your great work and effort but I really disagree with you here. In my opinion flying in ARMA with a fixed wing aircraft is not as difficult as it was in ofp. Certanly not when you use a joystick. Especially when you can up the viewdistance to around 5000m when flying high without a significant frame drop. In ofp you werent able to see this far, and thus was it hard to aproach your target at an good angle. While Arma has some flaws in its flying part. Especially the rudder for choppers and planes. So I think that the aircraft controls are not that bad at all. Dont get me wrong, I dont want to offend you, but I really disagree with you here.

i seee no real difference with ofp. +greater viewdistance makes flying more easy.

if you use 'advanced' scripts to make player use artillery why you can not script Ai to use it as well ? wink_o.gif

but anyway, do what you can - relativelly script free ground fights with MP compability. it's fun and it's bugless

I would seriously consider to try a joystick, mate.

It´s a very different feeling than keyboard use.

Vilas is right with distance and combat range. If you take this great Schmalfelden map do you really think planes make sense there except for nice show effects or special operations? You need much bigger maps for air combat. Today most air combat is done beyond visual range (BVR) search for AIM-120, R-27. wink_o.gif

I wonder will this mode have some nice "features" like FLIR display for AH-64, somewhat better missile usage(no ultra fast tab-lock-fire but actually guiding the missile), tank FCS and realistic penetration and stuff like that. Or is it only more vehicles only?

it would require game engine modification, mod is mod, not new game (software)

such thing i don't if will be in Arma 2 (as we know for the moment there ain't no informations about such possibilities , only new models and island, BIS do not show working vests, ERA functioning, different hit of vehicles)

Probably Arma 2 won't have this, cause nothing seems it will be more realistic in physics than 1, maybe it will be VBS 1.5 ?

people expect i don't know what kind of fountains for free

it is hobbyst mod , not Arma 3

Hellfire missiles are not wire guided, their target and trajectory type is chosen before launch, if it were made guideable by mouse and not the TADS (as AH-64A is limited to, and I'm not expecting it to be done) it would be even less realistic then it is right now.

But future word of caution if you're shooting for realism, TADS and PNVS do not move together so only tie the bottom sensors to the M230.

Geez vilas, all he did was asking if there are any new features coming with your mod.

And you approach him as if he would have demanded the moon on a stick.  crazy_o.gif

Maybe he's not so experienced with modding and stuff as some other people here and simply don't know what is possible and what not?

If you get that upset by requests or questions from the community then you're maybe in the wrong "business".  tounge2.gif

And yes... BI is evil, they don't show anything, give no informations away and on top of that they even are developing VBS.

I daily work with Vilas and after one year of very close team-cooperation, I'm just starting to get used to his temperament... :-p

But to answer Rakgitarmen, yes, the Apache will get the 'FLIR' system, and the MOD will feature some other little goodies alongside with realistic ballistics, just wait'n see.

Ok thanks, I'm not "demanding" anything by the way. It's your mod, it's your will. I just wanted to know if there's something "under the hood" rather than new models.

game engine is far not perfect and far not realistic and it not possible to do such features (as they saw in other games) here

Arma game looks for me like eye-candied OFP

if there were no such possibilities in OFP, there won't be here
