ARMA 2 got 83% score from PC Gamer Sweden (and I think PCG UK since they used the same text (translated).

Pros:

Vivid and alive world

Feeling of accomplishment when you do something right

Map/Mission Editor

Multiplayer

Cons:

Shoddy and inconsistent AI

System hog

all in all it was a good review. They explained features, and really got the message across that there is no other game like it out there. Unfortunately the bugs and often retarded AI can mess up the experience. They complained about the unnecessarily complicated control interface.

I think it it was pretty much spot on.

Swedish online game site fragzone has put out a review of Arma 2 http://www.fz.se/artiklar/20090702/arma-2/

The score is 3/5 and reviewer is a old school Arma Ofp veteran.

I think its a fair score, he also talks about how much better it is expected to be with future patches and addons.

An honest review of Arma2 in its current state from a Arma player :)

Ign just released their review.. No suprises really... 7.8

IGN didn't even mention the editor once. Lasting Appeal should have been a 10 easily.

I wouldn't necessarily disagree with the score but it's obvious they didn't play the whole thing or try every feature, let alone the editor which is a big part of the game. Not worth a read, to be honest.

They make good points. I probably would give it slightly higher overall score

Not too bad really, obviously, ARMA type gameplay is a shock to the system for the unitiated, even reviewers. How many other games try what it does ?. The reviewer probably didnt even know about the vast potential - the addons, mods, patches that will keep a fanbase for the next 10 years...

reviewer didn't even mention the editor once. lasting appeal should have been a 10 if he had known about all the mods being worked on. I agree that the interface was pretty bad (causes you to stop and look at your keyboard in the middle of a firefight) but at least you can change the key settings. I'd never expect a 9 or higher from any popular mainstream review site though, even if there were no bugs, because the average casual gamer is too dull to play the game for more than 5 seconds before ragequitting.

i agree but understand why he wrote such a review for example when you buy a game you exspect it to be complete/offer what you get out the box, and not need to rely on the modders to make the game better.

I coulndt see "Top Gear" giving a car full marks saying this car drives like crap but the modding and ICE potencial is amazing we love it.

Not necessarily because the game includes a mission editor for precisely that reason that is to increase the fun that you get far and beyond what is in the box (not that what is offered so far is by any means not good).

Obviously mods and missions have to factor in a review or score of a game. I mean even 7 - 9 years ago I cant believe that the people who were buying the newer installments of the half life series or the unreal series did not even once consider the great modding potential of those games.

Yeah but the general public do not buy a game for the editor, even if they know about its potential.

When you buy a game, you expect it to work out of the box, without having to stuff around with it. A lot of people will buy for the campaign and MP, and maybe then discover the editor and start messing with it.

Yes they would if they really knew what the editor was about. This editor is not farcry or halo editor it's what BOHEMIA uses to make all the SP and MP missions and so much more.

Your right the general public wants a game that works out of the box but if they really had a clue a lot of them would look past all because what the game can give to them what no other game can.

I am a big fun of BOHEMIA but they should have got some of the bugs out before the release but somthings were out of there hands with the publisher in germany.

The NA hard copy release is only 3 days away and no major stores here, still have no clue or information about ARMA2.
