Broileri 0 Posted December 23, 2007 I hope you are not saying that the M4 is more effective than an AK74 in real life. The M4's barrel is short, thus muzzle velocity is lost, making it weak and inaccurate at range. You would not want that in a close up enviroment mate. My point exactly. The AK74 is a bad weapon compared even to the M4 in the 1.09 beta. Unlike in real life.

walker 0 Posted December 23, 2007 im tryin to load QG but it wont load cause im gettin errors. Â what is the correct way to install it Hi all I do this to get QG runnning with the 1.09 beta. It works for me. Instal the 1.09 beta Make a copy of your Queens Gambit shortcut. Rename it to "Launch QG Arma Beta 1-09" Right click your new shortcut and alter the target field to read: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">"C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA\beta\arma.exe" -nosplash -mod=DBE1;beta Kind Regards walker
SlipperyJim 0 Posted December 23, 2007 There is a game balance issue with US and Russian assault rifles and carbines that is rather serious, IMHO.However, the patch makes the AKs worse than before. Their recoil seems the same as before (although it has been tweaked and now affects the weapon as it should, moving the barrel up, not down). The problem is that they do less damage. Perhaps this was a quick and lazy fix for the problem of the Russians being able to pick us off so easily. Instead of fixing the AI they just tweaked the weapon stats. Some of the feedback in this thread from people who have tried the beta scares me. They need to set aside Arma 2 for a while and fix Arma 1.
Sevan 0 Posted December 23, 2007 I just want to point out there are no Russians in the game.
ONI.au 0 Posted December 23, 2007 thing i like the best is the removal of the CLU (firing device) from the javelin prior to firing and if you go prone with the jave the clu is removed thanks BI for taking that on in this patch it was anoying to say the least to have to look through textures if you went prone with a jav on your back
Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted December 23, 2007 I wonder if we will see christmas trees again Back in 2001, the 1.42 (if I remember correctly) patch added those trees just right before xmas Cheers!
tonedog12 2 Posted December 23, 2007 ok tried that and still gettin errors. Â what are the two files for that come along with the patch? why release a patch that doesnt work with QG?
Planck 1 Posted December 23, 2007 If I recall correctly the patch included 2 folders, one called addons and the other called DBE1. DBE1 has an addons folder inside it, the files in this folder go in the DBE1\Addons folder you have in ArmA root. (presuming you have queens gambit) The files in the lone addons folder go into beta\addons folder. Planck

kabong 1 Posted December 24, 2007 My Line:"C:\Program Files\Atari\ArmA\beta\arma.exe" -mod=beta -nosplash  -mod=DBE1 I think that should read: "C:\Program Files\Atari\ArmA\beta\arma.exe" -mod=beta;DBE1 -nosplash Or maybe (don't know if the mod order matters): "C:\Program Files\Atari\ArmA\beta\arma.exe" -mod=DBE1;beta -nosplash

Maciver 0 Posted December 24, 2007 Just a note: I didnt read the whole thread, so these are probably repeats. But just what I've found. Dirtbike not fixed, still throws you off randomly. Sound inside some vehicles messed up. Other than that patch is great. My fps went up quite a bit. Thumbs up guys. For my personal request, fix the dirtbike, I love that thing! kanotson 2 Posted December 24, 2007 Voice over net doesn't work, it's like in 1.08, I played with a friend (my pc as server), and it works, but after a while he couldn't hear me. Later I couldn't hear him also. We can see the name below when someone speaks, but the sound is gone. First time it brokes, was when we get out from a blackhawk. Second time, just at the start of a mission. Another strange thing: at sound options I have hardware acceleration deactivated, but I cannot activate it (the state doesn't change). My friend had it activated and he couldn't deactivate it. Mi rig: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.21 Ghz, RAM 2 GB Sound: Realtek AC'97 Audio Windows XP Professional SP2 On the other hand, very good patch, specially the solved CTDs when loading very big missions (at last I could complete last mission in Gloria campaign!...saving and loading, of course )

Benoist 0 Posted December 24, 2007 So, i can install this and play in a 1.08 server as usual? And if i erase beta folder i "uninstal" the patch? EDIT: Sorry, i read the readme :P
BraTTy 0 Posted December 25, 2007 Don't even have to erase it, just run your other .exe I have about 3 hrs on this patch and I can say now that altho i didn't have serious problems before. It is definately alot smoother now,its like you upgraded my video card.I don't have texture switching like some users report, I have less than I did before and it looks a great deal better. Flying or riding I was in awe looking around how much better it looks. No serious bugs to report The walking, anim switching ..it all seems smoother now.I'm impressed I was on a server and a user died on a motorcycle on the lawn in front of me, I drove one for like 15 minutes and drove like a madman and didn't die (weird) When I played earlier I noticed when I turned voices up louder so I could hear talk, all it did was make the other sounds lower so I put it back (all 7 default) In game VON works for me, I hear others and talked a few times (i don't really like chat unless its squad/clan based necessity) PIV 3.0,1 gig ddr400,7600gs 512m,winxp home Bought this cheap Diamond soundcard few weeks ago because my built-in sound didn't allow me to enable hardware accel: http://www.staples.com/webapp....L140474 Arma Works great!
