Q1184

Sharper recoils

Recommended Posts

Excellent job Q1184 for your mod thumbs-up.gif, but i've a question, is it doable to add recoil to statics? For instance, m2 mounted on hmmwv should have recoil, although light, same for DshKM.

Assigning recoil in config does nothing to static/mounted weapons, so I've no idea how to do it.

Another thing i noticed, the MP5A5 has no recoil in single and full auto fire mode.

I don't know what they wanted to do, but I don't like the outcome. I'm not blaming them, it's just I put quite some time and effort in this mod and some weapon packs, and now it all goes to hell and I have to start from scratch.

uh... it's a BETA you chose to download and run the patch, it's an unfinished product, your fault. Run 1.08 if it bothers you that much.

Go do something more useful than replying to my long forgotten rants.

will you update this for 1.11? im thinking it might be unnecessary since i dont think they changed how recoil works from 1.09 to 1.11 so it should work with 1.11. havent tried it in 1.11 yet though

The 1.09 version should work fine with 1.11 patch. If you find any issues let me know.

What about the new 1.12.beta?

The recoil handling has changed again, so the recoils with my mod will feel slow. I guess I'll make a new version sometime.

Do you know anything about the new recoil notation? I can't

make head nor tail of it now. Could you explain it to us? My

painstakingly-crafted custom recoils for my crappy addon

guns are busted now too.    help.gif

Hehe I know the feeling smile_o.gif Basically you need to divide the time values (1st value in a 3-value group) in you current recoils roughly by 2 or 3. That will give you a good start, and then it's just tweaking and fine-tuning.

This mod is top notch. Combined with NWD's ballistics, it totally revitalized the 'feel' of shooting in ArmA.

I'd love to see these two addons becoming something of a defacto standard amongst addon creators weapon mod projects.

Thanks, I'll try that. I notice that as of the latest patch the

recoil values add some kind scaling factor or something. For

example:

AK74Recoil[] = {0.04,"0.006*( (4/7))","0.05*.5*( (4/7))",0.01,"0.009*( (4/7))",0,0.045,0,"-0.025*.5*( (4/7))"};

I know the patch was just released a short time ago, but curious if there will be any update to this eventually for it? smile_o.gif

Sorry for the late response. You can still use the 1.08-specific version of my addon without any problems. It seems to work just as it used to. As for a new version, I might eventually assemble my current stuff into a stand-alone pack and release it. In the recent months I've revised my approach so recoils feel a bit different.

I don't know if it's included in the mod at this point already but it's worth a question:

In the SLX mod (I think, or it's Cameron McDonald's 1st Infantry, in which case you can't do much about it) they have a good system of recoil, where rather than just the arms moving, the whole upper body is affected by the shot, so it looks a lot more realistic.

Is it possible to include this, should you agree it is realistic?

Q1184

Just a quick question to confirm it: is it ok to use the 1.08 version of your recoils with 1.14?

You mentioned sometime back that recoil info structure was changed between 1.08 and 1.09 and there is a large size difference between the two versions.

Thx,

Yes apparently that stuff was changed back to 1.08 style. I tried my old addon with 1.14 and saw no problems.

I know what you're talking about, but those are animation-related changes and it would take some time and effort for me to learn how those values work and tweak them to my liking. So it might be possible but not in the nearest future.

The barrel rise and the kickback are the same, i just slightly changed the timing (for assault rifles).

Thanks for info. Btw, what about M4? It have  a shorter barrel, and therefore a different pressure in it. I couldn't find any comparison between M16 and M4 in terms of ROF.

700-950 rpm is the safe operating rpm of the AR15 family under and its too slow to consistantly lock the bolt and over its too fast to consistantly unlock the bolt after the bullet is fired so it will damage the bolt lugs. All riflels and carbines are tested prior to shipping and will have a rpm closer to 700 at the start of the rifle's life then gradualy increase to 950 as components get worn. The ROF of the M16 and M4 are identical(not the same) if I remmember correct. long barrel weapons have more muzzel lift and short barrel rifles have sharper recoile and less muzzel lift atleaste in the AR15 family.
