CodyLang 0 Posted September 19, 2007 sounds AMAZING!
Jarvis 0 Posted September 19, 2007 Very nice, it gives you a sense of realism having those things fly over or come in for a landing...great stuff.
max power 21 Posted September 19, 2007 I think the cobra sound could use some work. I can hear it looping. I really like the volume, but I think the actual cobra is quieter than that. I got one of the guys at OPEVAL to upload a video flyby. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nv47azqkJiI It's also nice to hear some turbine when you're flying from in the cockpit. These are just my 2ce! CodyLang 0 Posted September 19, 2007 Here another flyby if your interested:) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v....search=
LeftSkidLow 1 Posted September 19, 2007 Plaintiff1, that youtube was actually the only sound I could find anywhere of the AH-1Z and since its a flyby I couldn't use it. I'm aware of the looping but haven't figured out how to fix it yet. As for the turbine sound I can't help you, these are not realistic sounds as far as what the pilot would hear. For me thats fine, because helicopters don't sound that sexy in cabin. Have you ever flown in a Hughes 500? Its not a pleasant sound, thank god for ANR headsets and helmets. The loudness problem may be partly because Evenlease made the video, and he plays with the volume at max . CodyLang, your video is an AH-1W, a semi-rigid 2 blade varient that sounds like a Huey, ArmA uses the Zulu model. EvEnLeaSe44, do what you want with them as I said, just don't forget to give credit. EvEnLeaSe44 0 Posted September 19, 2007 yeah, thanks again LeftSkidLow, i knew i forgot something.
LeftSkidLow 1 Posted September 19, 2007 No worries Evenlease, I just upped a quick video of the cobra at a lower volume so maybe it gives a better idea of how loud it is. And you can also hear the looping. http://files.filefront.com/ah1zwmv/;8589899;/fileinfo.html
max power 21 Posted September 19, 2007 You can try chopping up the sound a bit and rearranging it, and putting another sound over top of it to make the loop at bit. FDF mod did this with mixed results. You can really hear the loop in most of their helicopter sounds. Depending on the software you're using, you can try to normalize the volume levels. To be honest, I didn't hear any audio clipping or anything, just that the sound's simulation was very loud.. this may have something to do with a config value. LeftSkidLow 1 Posted September 19, 2007 I've tried rearranging a bit, and just couldn't quite get it, I'm not an expert at sound editing but I will keep trying. If its too loud, thats an easy fix, I don't know how to do configs but I can just turn down the volume of file and reconvert to wss. Originally I just made these for myself and have been using them for quite a while, except for the cobra sound which Is pretty new. I just wanted them to sound realistic, and they are from recordings of the respective aircraft except for the AH-1Z which I used a bell 407 sound and tweaked a little. Opticalsnare 12 Posted September 19, 2007 Using Reverse+Fades is your friend when getting stuff to loop good like helicopter sounds, just a hint to a sound design trick

NoRailgunner 0 Posted September 19, 2007 Finally different and good heli-sounds in ArmA! Little more tweaking the soundvolume: far away and distances between 0-1500m Nice work, keep those typical helisounds! Better spotting type of helicopter by hearing... max power 21 Posted September 20, 2007 Hi there,i founded one sound of ah-1z, check this video from Arma That one loops uneasy too. There's a part where the turbine pulses 3 times that really sticks out. You can hear it turning over and over again. The loop also sounds very short! The sounds you guys are making are quite good, though! They have a good feel, I think.
bravo 6 0 Posted September 22, 2007 @EvEnLeaSe44 - Any ETA for these sounds? are only these 3 choppers that you will work on? What about the others?

GD Mast 0 Posted September 23, 2007 The Cobra just doesn't sound right. Sounds more like a Apache. The Litttle Bird and Blackhawk do sound great. That Cobra video that RobertHammer posted does sound alot better IMO. GD Mast
