Chammys Sound Mod

Recommended Posts

I often gets the following message:

You cannot play/edit this mission; it is dependent on downloadable content that has been deleted. csmsound

ehm, now what?

We are aware of this error message, however it does not effect game play, therefore, the fix will be in the V1.0 release.

For now, you can just ignore that message.  sad_o.gif

ok, thanks. Now i can sleep again wink_o.gif

clownbassie, just rename the CSM directory to CSMSound and edit the shortcut to the game accordingly. That will get rid of the error.

I love these sounds, they are all perfect. Now here's an idea, since all of the vehicle sounds are high pitched and sound disgusting, why don't you replace those sounds; your choice.

Regards

Yup, I'm replacing them as I speak, er type. Some a very difficult to find, and when I do find them, there's just too muchbacground noise, like people talking, the wind, and such. But I will, if someone can send me a link of a Littlebird would be great, and possibley a dirt bike , the ones in the ArmA game sound like mopeds. I'd take the ones from Nova Logics JointOps, but that would be plagerism.

At the moment also, I am replacing every other sound that is in ArmA's sound files, ones that need replacing that other wise probably wont be replaced in the standalone, in other words, ArmA has lots of sound samples that are hidden that you wouldnt normally hear at times, but when you do they stand out like a sore thumb if they are triggered and not changed. If you want all the sounds not to be mismatched when playing other mods this would be the thing to do.

Is there anyway you can get them from blackhawk down?

i still think that the main weapon sounds, m4, m16 etc, are too low.

Even the recouchets are louder then the fire it self.

i also liked the older explosions too. smile_o.gif i keep older version just in case

edit: in file.rar you should rename it and put CSM_v2.rar, people might get confused.

There was a previouse version before this one.. was smaller and it was also nice.

for future updates would be usefull,

cheers

i didnt pay for the sounds.. i payed for the engine it self smile_o.gif

You can do anything with it.. its open source. No other game does this..

anyway, i agree with the sounds in the cockpit. inside planes, vehicles etc.. they all need to be changed smile_o.gif

You should think about asking for the AK sounds from Skaven and ShadowNX's Russian Fed Troops, they sound pretty wicked.

Is the Config hotfix in the first post still required? Or does the lastest version have this corrected?

Well thats the thing, I think I remmeber hearing theirs, they are pretty good at that they are loud BUT, like I've said before, it isnt what you'd hear at all on the battlefield or at a shooting range, and most, they wont fit with the sounds in the mod. But then if I used someone elses then our mod wouldnt be authentic or "realistic", though, its a good idea , but then like I said, sounds would be mismatchd.

This sound mod is great. Tried out the beta, and was overwhelmed with the sounds (especially at a distance). Played a test mission on arma, and I was actually frightened knowing the fact that there was a distant firefight in process and I had to go there and assist the poor souls caught in that mess. I pretty much agree with everyone else about the volume being raised etc. What I didn't see addressed (so far), was the bullet cracks chammy's beta had, wasn't heard in the v0.2. I'm wondering if this is just me, or if its was removed. Otherwise, that's my only fuss really. This mod kick's so much a**.

I have noticed also in ArmaVidz awesome video ( not kissing ass now heheh ) that I heard the stock sounds for the supersonic bullet cracks. If the total sound replacement was not installed then those cracks are a result of the sounds not being replaced. I guess at some point the game will play the stock ones if you have them still, if you have downloaded and installed the full replacement then you would be hearing mine. Durq is on that department right now and should be fixed already. thanks sas and everyone else again for the props yay.gif

Exactly, just went to the shooting range the other day, your sound mod is the closest ive seen, only it was way louder as you would expect...

I hear very annoying hiss noises just after the bullet bang (AK74 is the worst offender).

Also is the shooter supposed to be able to hear the bullet whiz?

I think the distance gun fire sounds are good

but actually using the guns sounds poor.

The config fix is still needed for the original link afaik, but for the megaupload and rapidshare mirrors the config is included

Hi, I'm pretty new to Arma, I bought it after watching a video on youtube with Chammy's Sound mod and Madmatts graphics mod. I love the game but I have followed all the instructions on this forum of how to install these mods but can't get them to work. I have downloaded all the tools that I need however when I try to use Unpbo1.5 on Chammys PBO file it does nothing, I can get to the standard game wss files using Unpbo1.5 no problem but I can't replace these with Chammy's as IO can't decompress them. Any help would be appreciated. Also I have found that when I turn on EAX on my sound card I get a reduction in FPS so I have turned it off, is this normal?

Hi Stratman

If you download the V2 of the sound only mod here... http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=65537

you dont need to do the un pbo stuff. you do however need to follow the instructions for the config fix ( I think some versions feature the fix but I'm not sure which ).

Hope this helps and enjoy the mod  smile_o.gif

Steven.

Thanks Steve, I've actully tried that but I seem to be having trouble with editing my shortcut target. I have this

"D:\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA\arma.exe"-mod=@CSM

which points to my directory but when I enter this as a shortcut it tells me the name in the target box in not valid.

Hi Stratocastor man,

The problem is simple, "-mod=@CSM, there should be a space between the " and the - .

That has to be it.

It looks like theres no space between the mod. I do mine like this, see below.

"C:\Program Files\Atari\ArmA\arma.exe" -nosplash -mod=@CSM;@TrueView;@ArmAEffects

There is a space between the quotation mark and the dash I dont see it in your example.

Hope this helps!
