Anyone tried it yet? i did. But i havent played the standard version, i installed the 1.2 patch right after i installed the standard. So i dont know if anything changed into english. Almost everything is english. When playing the only things that are in french is in the action menu sometimes. So thats not so bad

BVE 0 Posted May 30, 2007 russians. Their figures look a litle differend then the normal ARMA soldiers http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/Richardvanluit/rus2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/Richardvanluit/rus.jpg Tracers are the same as Cents http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/Richardvanluit/tracers.jpg
Sgt_Eversmann 1 Posted May 30, 2007 looks like they made it to convert old vbs/ofp models into arma
NoRailgunner 0 Posted May 30, 2007 Nice ideas... but why (russian) special forces wear in games "target marks" like Spetznaz... they never do it in combat Special Forces of the world wear all kind and type of clothes, bdu's and combat stuff. They never want to be the bull's eye
Shadow NX 1 Posted May 30, 2007 These russian units look pretty cool, didnt expect them to be completely new although i had a feeling that i had seen new vests in the trailer. Do they have normalmaps and all the other bells n whistles the normal ArmA units have. One hint to the makers though, on Sahrani not even a russian would wear a ushanka on his head, replace it with a flora or vsr fieldcap and youre good to go About the Spetsnaz patch, well never say never im pretty sure that units already had these on their vest in combat zones. Maybe not GRU but some of the other units for sure, especially in the mid to late 90s everything was possible in the russian army. Sometimes you want your enemy to know who you are, i remember reading of situations in chechnya where rebels saw that vehicles with the blue white marines flag entered their area that made them go chicken on their radios right away because they know what they had comming their way... Anyway, if they have soldiers with eyepatches then a lil Spetsnaz patch shouldnt worry us.
Skaven 0 Posted May 30, 2007 In my opinion as I said before this units don't look half as good as Arma ones, the soldiers are a lot thinner and seem to lack detail... . Once in game you will be able to note the difference. From the textures I saw the models are defenately from Ofp or VBS, they use lots of textures like the old ofp method which as we all know ain't good. Nevertheless, the rest of the MOD is pretty amazing and it's a big step forward in the addon making scene. About the patches, as Shadow said I do think it makes the units look a lot better even if they don't use it in real life.
HamishUK 0 Posted May 30, 2007 Do these replace existing units and is game changing or is it a PBO file you can add to your add-ons folder?
colligpip 0 Posted May 30, 2007 Love the see through map in the m1a1 and the commander zoom. This looks a bit like steel beasts please say its like steel beasts I wont be able to stop playing if it is. If somebody could make it have the same lase targeting o my word Arma would be good. Ps I dont care if the opfor are coverted ofp units before they get close they are dead anyway so who cares.
Shadow NX 1 Posted May 30, 2007 For some people the enemys are the guys in ACU ( when playing that is ) so offcourse they want ArmA quality units

The little I caught from viewing those clips told me is that it is far from anything as realistic as SB, it's better that default ArmA though. I wish some of the really experienced addon/mod makers would look into making a tank sim mod/addon for ArmA because ArmA has so much potential to become a high fidelity tank sim. Personally I'm looking into learning how to mod ArmA for one reason and reason only, and that is the possibility of providing a highly realistic SB mod, however it is looking quite futile at the moment due to the amount of knowledge I need to consume Also I'm not super computer literate so who knows... colligpip 0 Posted May 30, 2007 Yeah same here. I would love to turn arma into a high end tank/air sim - looking at this perhaps something near is possible. Just installing this mod so fingers crossed its at least a bit like SB.
mrj-fin 0 Posted May 30, 2007 Steal Beast style tanks weapons handling systems could rly take a far steep ahead in realism. There wasnt in OFP anything special in this case what rly was sad but I hope that ArmA will let us more capasities to include this into game.
ThePredator 0 Posted May 30, 2007 Well, for the size of the mod there is not much fancy included. The tank stuff is not really user friendly, but I am no tanker. The ghillie suits are nice, but I'd like them more authentic in color. You can only hide in grass with them but on distance, they stick out like living trees. Sahrani has more deserted hills, so some brown/dark green/tan colored burlaps won't hurt. The sounds are poor, the only nice feature is the T-72 autoloader and radio chatter, which is hardly important. Sounds are too loud, you can hear tanks reloading a mile away, the vanilla tracers are still there and centipedes tracers work for tank cannons.
colligpip 0 Posted May 30, 2007 I had a look the m1a1 controll station shows what could be done - it is similar to Steel beasts but alas quite a long way off but i reckon its a step in the right direction. There are buttons that you can click to eject smoke/ nightvsion etc and you can pan around and zoom, good for stalking enemy tanks, but as far as i could see you could not access the gui interface to controll units in this view which is a shame. I think the sounds are good had quite a wack to them but they do seem a bit loud. All in all the inclusion of a button clickable controll interface is good if this can be done then perhaps it can be added to aircraft as well for targeting etc.
BVE 0 Posted May 30, 2007 Yes, like thepredator said.. There aint so much changes or new things. The things i do like from this mod Ãs the new explosion they made for destroying tanks etc. That looks pretty cool. My opinion about the sounds.. The new sounds for some weapons are nice, but the sounds for the tanks are much too loud yes. Tracers only for some weapons / vehicles. Vulcan should have tracers in my opinion. Ghilli suit is nice, yes.. could have more color variation, and watching a ghilli sniper from distance makes the ghilli suit almost dissapear and u almost see just a normal soldier. Overall, they made some nice things with this mod, but there aint so many new things, thats a pitty, i expected a litle more by watching the videos from EAM. Chris Young 3 Posted May 31, 2007 As far as I know, the next version (1.3) will be released when the 1.07 final patch is released. The XAM team does not want to make a release for a beta patch, so it works with the last stable version we have in France, that is the 1.05. About the English translation, well, the language the most spoken on Earth is Chinese, English will come after... I just wanted to say that the team is French so they firstly wanted to make the mod available for French people. I don't know when it will be totally translated. I'll ask some guys from the team to come to answer your questions. Regards, Chris. EDIT : I just saw on their website that there will soon be a modified version of the 1.2 for the 1.07 beta patch.
