WIP: stuff you are working on!

I have converted the OFP's ukraine mod T-55 to ArmA:

But for a public release, I need a permission from the ukraine mod. I tried to post a thread in the armed assault ukraine forum with the help of babelfish, but I fail to post such a thread  confused_o.gif

Please PM me, if anyone is in contact with the ukraine mod  wink_o.gif

could you maybee add the BIS DSHK to the commanders position?

The T-55 is a 4-man tank without autoloader. The commander's turret is located on the left side, but the DSHK position is on the right (loader's turret).

I plan to release a conversion, 3 crew positions, no DSHK. But when released, I will transfer my MLOD's to the ukraine mod for further developent.

Rygugu's and P85 T-55 versions will include the DSHK. At least rygugu's WIP showed a DSHK.

Kill two birds with stone they say.

I supose you could say everything in this pic is kind of WIP. The Tiger was actually done about a year ago and was kind of a learning project for me (and ADF Mod appeared short on hands). Goes to show how difficult that musk\tan is to get right. (Good luck Tankcommander! ) At the end of the day I was thinking err on the side of red instead of tan coz it will look awkward if they ever got used in a good Australian environment. Though given todays deployment and scope of play erring towards tan may make more sense.

And as bravo6 will notice. I have the 'carpark' in game now  tounge2.gif

Off now to see if I can't improve my texturing skills crazy_o.gif

Well kind off. Taken some pretty big artistic licences. And basicaly used only a few pics and my decades old memory of the place as reference. I've also used only the older stands as they are what gave it such a distictive appearance for so many years and made it a great deal easier to model segments that fit together in any arangement.

Haha yeh, i think a 'realistic' model of it would be abit of a tall order for anyone to make for arma, looks good mate smile_o.gif

BTW the colours on the Tiger look good.

Coz then I'd have to make some even more feral Collingwood supporters just to maintain that whole ArmA and its 3 factions thing.

PS; Soul Assasin, looks great, I had been wondering when a Rus heavy lifter would appear

It's still very rough and I don't have time to work on it for more than a few hours per month, but the Havok is ingame.

Credits for the base model goes entirely to Mats Liljeroos aka Digital Centurion, who kindly provided me his work a few months ago.

I made a series of heavily optimized LODs, reworked the UVs (which were screwed up anyway in the LOD process) and textures (standard color, specular and normal + damage color, specular and normal + standard reflective glass, + half damage glass + full damage glass) and slapped a basic config to make it playable. It flies, it shoots, it has working dampers and the turret turns.

The PSD of the textures is easily editable if you want to make camo variations (a neutral base with baked GI, with separate layers for for camo stripes and roundels)

From the outside, I think it's a done job. Now it lacks an interior and a proper config without bugs, but hey, that's a start.

instead of fanboy-ish approval something more constructive:

the spec doesnt really seem to come through too well.

it overall appears very flat.

try to boost it up a bit.

the diffuse texture looks VERY noisy, like its been a dirt layer applied over the top. it looks way too uniform in term of dirt.

eg the area around the exhaust should be dirtier, whereas blank parts should be cleaner etc etc.

the colors also vary very much cause of the dirt, especially seen on the radardome.

it would be better if youd add that "dirt" into the spec map and make the dirt in the diffuse way more subtle.
